Have banned non veg food in Raj Bhavan, says Meghalaya governor Vijayashankar
Mysuru: CH Vijayashankar, the governor of Meghalaya, announced on Sunday that he has issued orders prohibiting non-vegetarian food and alcohol consumption in Raj Bhavan, his official residence in Shillong.
During the 109th Shivarathri Rajendra Swami Jayanti celebrations at Suttur Mutt near Mysuru, he expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for appointing him as the governor and asked him to open the doors of Raj Bhavan to reach out to the poor, adivasis, and common people in the state.

As a native of Mysuru, Vijayashankar pledged to make honest efforts to uphold the legacy, dignity, and pride of his hometown and state. He also urged the JSS Mahavidyapeetha to expand its educational, religious, spiritual, and health promotion activities to hill states like Meghalaya.
The event was inaugurated by the governor of Goa, Sridharan Pillai, who highlighted the contributions of Suttur Mutt in various fields. Writer Morabada Mallikarjuna, in his keynote address, remembered the contributions of the 23rd pontiff of Suttur Mutt, Shivarathri Rajendra Swamji, in building hostels for poor students, encouraging mass feeding, and seeking help from the Maharajas of Mysore.
The Mahavidyapeetha honoured its employees, retired staff, and family members of 12 employees who passed away in the last year. The Mutt also felicitated SSLC and PU toppers from JSS educational institutions and hostel inmates.
As in previous years, the JSS Mahavidyapeetha donated Rs 1 lakh to the Mysore Zoo to feed its animals and birds to mark the occasion.
Suttur Mutt seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami, Siddaganga Mutt chief Siddalingaswami, and Muddenahalli Satya Sai Ashram Sadguru Madusudana Sai were present.
