Soniya Malhar defends Dileep in actress assault case: "Don’t think he could commit such a crime"

Actress Soniya Malhar, who recently made headlines with allegations against a young actor for groping her during the filming of a 2013 movie in Thodupuzha, addressed her previous support for Dileep.

During an interview with Reporter channel, when asked why she had publicly backed Dileep in a 2022 Facebook post, Soniya explained that her opinion stemmed from her knowledge of the actor.“The Dileep I know wouldn’t be able to commit such a crime. He wouldn’t ruin his career by doing such an act,” she stated.

Soniya’s 2022 Facebook post, “With you Dear brother. Truth will win. With prayers,” has resurfaced and drawn criticism from those who believe the actor is guilty. However, Soniya remains steadfast in her belief that Dileep is innocent, arguing that the real mastermind behind the crime has yet to be uncovered. She urged the authorities to find concrete evidence against Dileep if he is indeed guilty but expressed doubt that he would affect his career by committing such a heinous act.
Despite her defense of Dileep, Soniya was clear in her stance against the crime itself. She emphasized that all those involved in the actress assault case should be held accountable and face appropriate punishment. Moreover, she expressed her solidarity with the victim, stating, “I stand with the actress who was assaulted.”
