"Bibi," as Benjamin Netanyahu is often referred to, currently serves as the Prime Minister of Israel and also holds the positions of a Knesset member and Chairman of the Likud party.


He holds the distinction of being the longest-tenured prime minister in the country's history, with service of over 16 years. He is also the first Israeli prime minister born in Israel after the establishment of the state.

Netanyahu's journey in public service began when he joined the Israel Defense Forces shortly after the Six-Day War in 1967. He eventually rose to the rank of a team leader within the Sayeret Matkal special forces unit.

Throughout his military career, he participated in numerous missions, including Operation Inferno (1968), Operation Gift (1968), and Operation Isotope (1972), during which he sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

He also served on the front lines during the War of Attrition and the Yom Kippur War in 1973. His contributions included leading special forces raids along the Suez Canal and commanding a daring assault deep into Syrian territory. His military career culminated with the rank of captain before his discharge.

After completing his education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and earning both Bachelor of Science (SB) and Master of Science (SM) degrees, Netanyahu embarked on a career as an economic consultant for the Boston Consulting Group.

In 1978, he returned to Israel and founded the Yonatan Netanyahu Anti-Terror Institute, named in honor of his brother Yonatan Netanyahu, who lost his life while leading Operation Entebbe. Netanyahu, further went on to become the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations from 1984 to 1988.

In 1993, Netanyahu assumed leadership of the Likud party and then went on to secure victory in the 1996 elections, making him the youngest Prime Minister in Israel's history.
