  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Agrees to seven-year contract

Seider signed a seven-year, $59.85 million contract with the Red Wings on Thursday.

Seider was a restricted free agent, and this agreement, along with locking Lucas Raymond up to an eight-year, $64.6 million contract Monday, puts Detroit's books in order going into the 2024-25 campaign. As is the case with Raymond's deal, Seider's cap hit ($8.55 million) looks solid now for what he brings to the table and could become tremendous value as he continues to develop and the salary cap increases further. The 23-year-old defenseman had nine goals and 42 points in 82 contests last season, making it the third straight campaign in which he surpassed the 40-point mark. Seider is expected to enter the season as a member of Detroit's top four and receive steady work with the man advantage.

  • Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Ready to go

Rasmussen has recovered from his upper-body injury that forced him to miss the last seven regular-season games in 2023-24, according to Max Bultman of The Athletic.

Rasmussen is practicing alongside Andrew Copp and Christian Fischer at the opening day of training camp Thursday. He ended last season with a career-high 33 points in 75 regular-season appearances. The 25-year-old is expected to see third-line duty in 2024-25 along with being an integral part of the Detroit penalty-killing unit.

  • Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Healthy at training camp

Larkin (upper body) is centering the first line at training camp Thursday, Max Bultman of The Athletic reports.

Larkin underwent offseason surgery in June but is healthy heading into the regular season. The Detroit captain had 33 goals, 36 assists, 221 shots on goal and 26 power-play points in 68 regular-season games last season. He is expected to play with Alex DeBrincat and Lucas Raymond on what should be an outstanding top line in 2024-25.

  • Red Wings' Alex Chiasson: Agrees to PTO

Chiasson signed a professional tryout agreement with the Red Wings, per Ansar Khan of MLive.com on Wednesday.

Chiasson had six goals and nine points in 20 contests with Detroit in 2023-24. He also recorded nine goals and 20 points in 29 AHL outings with Grand Rapids. The 33-year-old should be in the mix for a bottom-six spot.

  • Red Wings' Lucas Raymond: Locked up by Detroit

Raymond signed an eight-year, $64.6 million contract with the Red Wings on Monday.

Raymond, an unsigned RFA before penning an extension Monday, will now be tied to Detroit through the 2031-32 season. The 22-year-old was the No. 4 selection in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the Red Wings. The Swedish winger is an integral part of Detroit's core going forward, and that was made clear by the substantial raise that Raymond received following the completion of his entry-level deal. The right-shot forward will likely slot in on the top line while skating with the top power-play unit. Raymond had his most productive season yet as a professional in 2023-24, banking 31 goals and 72 points in 82 regular-season contests.

  • Red Wings' Jonatan Berggren: Pens one-year contract

Berggren signed a one-year, $825,000 contract with Detroit on Monday.

Berggren produced two goals and four assists in 12 regular-season outings with Detroit in 2023-24. He also had 24 goals and 56 points in 53 contests for AHL Grand Rapids last campaign before adding five tallies and five helpers in nine playoff games. The 24-year-old forward will compete for a bottom-six role with the Red Wings during training camp, and he could see power-play time if he manages to secure a spot for Opening Night.

  • Red Wings' Austin Watson: Receives tryout offer from Detroit

Watson signed a professional tryout agreement with the Red Wings on Wednesday, per his agency.

Watson will enter training camp on a tryout for a second year in a row. Last season, he turned his tryout into a one-year deal with the Lightning and proceeded to post just four points, along with 85 hits and 93 PIM, in 33 regular-season games. He'll likely have to settle for a fourth-line role if the Red Wings end up offering him a full deal.

  • Red Wings' Joe Veleno: Inks two-year deal

Veleno signed a two-year, $4.55 million contract with the Red Wings on Friday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Veleno was a restricted free agent coming off a one-year, $825,000 contract. He had 12 goals and 28 points in 80 contests last season. The 24-year-old is likely to start the 2024-25 campaign in a bottom-six role, but he does have some upside.

  • Red Wings' Michael Brandsegg-Nygard: Inks entry-level contract

Brandsegg-Nygard signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Red Wings on Thursday.

Brandsegg-Nygard, the highest-drafted Norwegian forward in NHL history, has taken the first step on his journey with the Red Wings. The winger had 18 points in 41 regular-season contests with Mora IK of the Swedish second-tier league, HockeyAllsvenskan, in 2023-24. He's expected to move up to the SHL with Skelleftea AIK in 2024-25, so it'll likely be another year or two before Brandsegg-Nygard makes the jump to North America.

  • Red Wings' Tory Dello: Inks two-way deal

Dello signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Red Wings on Thursday.

Dello had three goals, 13 points and 28 PIM in 65 games with AHL Chicago in 2023-24. The 27-year-old has never played in the NHL. Although Dello secured a two-way deal -- as opposed to a minor-league contract -- for the first time, he is unlikely to earn any ice time at the top level during the upcoming campaign.

  • Red Wings' Gage Alexander: Sent to Detroit via trade

Alexander was traded from the Ducks to the Red Wings on Wednesday in exchange for Robby Fabbri and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2025.

Alexander has two years of professional experience, but he's mainly been limited to the ECHL. Given the depth of the Red Wings' goaltending contingent, Alexander is likely to link up with ECHL Toledo for 2024-25.

  • Red Wings' Vladimir Tarasenko: Heading to Motor City

Tarasenko signed a two-year, $9.5 million contract with the Red Wings on Wednesday.

Tarasenko had 23 goals and 55 points across 76 regular-season contests between Ottawa and Florida in 2023-24. He also supplied five goals and nine points in 24 playoff games to aid the Panthers in their Cup-winning run. The 32-year-old has surpassed the 60-point milestone on six occasions with the most recent example being 2021-22, when he finished with 34 goals and 82 points in 75 outings with St. Louis. Tarasenko isn't a safe bet to reach the 60-point mark at this stage of his career, but it also can't be ruled out. At worst, he should be a solid middle-six option for Detroit as long as he stays healthy.

  • Red Wings' Tyler Motte: Heading to Motor City

Motte signed a one-year, $800,000 contract with the Red Wings on Tuesday.

Motte was limited to nine points in 69 regular-season games with the Lightning last year, and he added just one goal over five playoff contests. He's an effective bottom-six forward notable for his penalty-killing abilities and physicality, but he's never achieved a 20-point season.

  • Red Wings' Joe Snively: Inks two-way deal

Snively signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Red Wings on Monday.

Snively has spent his entire professional career with Washington and AHL Hershey. Last season, he racked up 18 goals and 77 points in 89 AHL games between the regular season and playoffs. He has 11 points in 27 career NHL contests.

  • Red Wings' Christian Fischer: Inks one-year deal

Fischer signed a one-year, $1.125 million contract with the Red Wings on Monday.

Although Fischer tested the unrestricted free agent market, he ended up returning to Detroit. He had five goals, 19 points, 36 PIM and 138 hits across 79 games with the Red Wings in 2023-24. He'll likely serve in a bottom-six capacity next season.

  • Red Wings' Jack Campbell: Trying to rebound on one-year deal

Campbell signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Red Wings on Monday.

Campbell is an interesting case. He struggled mightily early in the 2023-24 season, posting a 4.49 GAA and an .873 save percentage across five regular-season starts with Edmonton. The Oilers sent him to AHL Bakersfield, and although Campbell did well at that level with a 2.63 GAA and a .918 save percentage in 33 regular-season appearances, he never got another shot with Edmonton. Instead, the Oilers bought out the final three campaigns of his five-year, $25 million deal, which is how he became an unrestricted free agent eligible to sign with Detroit. Campbell will enter training camp looking to revive his career, but he'll face stiff competition for a roster spot with Ville Husso, Cam Talbot and Alex Lyon also under contract. At least one of Detroit's goalies is likely to be traded or waived prior to Opening Night, with Campbell's path to making the roster the longest of the four.

  • Red Wings' Sheldon Dries: Pens two-year pact

Dries signed a two-year, two-way contract with Detroit on Monday.

Dries racked up 29 goals and 52 points in 55 regular-season contests for AHL Abbotsford in 2023-24. He has 16 goals and 26 points in 122 NHL appearances in his career. Dries will probably spend most, if not all, of the 2024-25 campaign in the minors.

  • Red Wings' Erik Gustafsson: Signs two-year deal

Gustafsson signed a two-year, $4 million contract with the Red Wings on Monday, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet on Monday.

Gustafsson had six goals and 31 points in 76 regular-season games with the Rangers in 2023-24. The 32-year-old is likely to serve on either Detroit's second or third pairing, and he should also see some time on the second power-play unit.
