Eyewear is a necessary -- and quite costly -- expense for anyone with less-than-perfect vision. It's important to update glasses and contact lenses periodically so you can maintain your best possible eyesight and keep your precious eyes healthy. If you like having options for different occasions or outfits, you might like keeping multiple pairs of glasses or using a combination of glasses and contacts, and this means spending even more. The cost of glasses can make having multiple options a bit burdensome for your wallet. That's why we're always on the lookout for ways you can save on these necessary goods. Fortunately, many contacts and glasses companies make it easy to save, and some accept vision insurance and FSA/HSA dollars that can be used for additional savings. Since it's almost the end of the year, these deals are a great way to use benefits that aren't going to roll over into the new year.

Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money.

Some places even offer special packages where they will ship you frames to try on for free, which saves the hassle of going into a physical store and lets you test out new frames before committing. In addition to lower overall costs compared to what you'll find in most brick-and-mortar stores, many online retailers offer rotating sales, discounts and pricing bundles to save you even more.

To help you make the most of these offers, we've rounded up some of the best online deals on glasses and contacts below. Plus, if you've signed up for a flexible spending account through your employer, you might be able to apply some of those funds to purchases from the retailers listed below.
