#KAPSARC's side-event at ONS wrapped up yesterday emphasizing the urgent need for a transition to sustainable energy systems, while acknowledging the changing global context where trade-related #climate measures and industrial policies for clean energy are coming up in response to concerns around carbon competitiveness. Panelists discussed the challenges of balancing domestic objectives like economic growth, job creation, energy security, and climate goals, while highlighting the importance of international collaboration, a fair global trading system, and technological innovation for an efficient energy transition. The session also underscored the risks of protectionism and the need for diversified and inclusive approaches to achieve global #energy transition objectives. We thank our attendees for the fruitful engagement.
