Many thanks to #fosbury&sons for organizing this photoshoot session and interviews for women to voice their opinion on topics related to the International Woman's Rights Day. See the result on the link below: https://lnkd.in/d9RDm_C9 We were asked to comment on 2 topics from the list below, which I invite you all to take some minutes of your time to reflect on: * Which woman inspires you the most and why? * What are the biggest challenges you face as a woman in your profession? * How do you balance your personal and professional life? * What steps do you think can be taken to promote gender equality in the workplace? * What advice would you give to young women starting their careers? * What does International Women's Day mean to you personally? * How do you support and uplift other women in your life? And let's help to make this society more egalitarian (at each level). Because yes, we are lucky in most european countries in general, but you'd be suprised by the statistics in particular, and there are still so many small easy steps that can be done !

How will the Online Safety Act help to protect women and girls? 🔒 Our research shows women and girls are disproportionately affected by certain illegal online harms - and they are more likely to be negatively affected by hateful and trolling content. That's why keeping women and girls' safety front of mind is crucial as we build a safer life online. Our upcoming plans will contribute to tackling online gendered harm, by: ➡️Setting out safety measures platforms can put in place to protect people from illegal harms such as intimate image abuse. ➡️Consulting on guidance for online services focusing on content disproportionately affecting women and girls. ➡️Building on existing media literacy work to support positive gender relations. Families and homes should be safe spaces for everyone. Unfortunately, that is not so especially for many women and girls around. It is imperative that stakeholders, community leaders, governments, and institutions pay attention to, and work to ensure homes and families remain safe for women and girls. That is the surest way to win the war on GBV/VAWGs. Winning the war on GBV/VAWGs is the catalyst for world peace.

It's a heartbreaking and unacceptable reality that for far too many women and girls, their own homes and families are not the safe havens they should be. The statistics are truly staggering and disturbing. We need to prioritize women's empowerment and protection as an urgent priority for all nations. Addressing the scourge of gender-based violence, changing deeply-rooted patriarchal attitudes, and prioritizing women's empowerment and protection must be an urgent priority. No more women's lives should be cut short simply for being female. Homes must become the true safe havens they are meant to be for everyone. Families and homes should represent safety, love and security, especially for women and children who are so often made vulnerable by gender inequalities and power imbalances. But the reality is still an unacceptable distance from this ideal for millions globally.

The Civil Commission for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Rule of Law: is a non for profit Palestinian NGO, active in the Palestinian territories, with its headquarters in Ramallah city in the West Bank.
Family is the first place to provide a safe place for women to grow. Violence against women can take many forms other than sexual and physical, emotional abuse, economic violence, and social violence. Usually violence start with one of the aforementioned forms before it ends with the physical violence that kills the women. Awareness on early signs on violence, well-trained police forces to deal with gender-based violence, established reporting mechanisms, specialized institutions to provide aid for women who don't have safe homes is a necessity not a luxury. Laws and policies should be responsive to secure safer environment for women. This can be done on so many levels. Ranging from raising awareness to young girls in schools how to report violence, to robust reporting mechanisms, and effective procedures to hold perpetrators accountable, all are linked and inseparable. We will discuss each in more detailed posts, with more data and information on the situation in Palestine, with focus on women's access to justice, and women in conflict with the law who are in trial or locked up in detention centers.

Time is running out to address urgent threats to human rights in the current text of the UN's proposed Cybercrime Convention. In a joint statement with 100+ other groups, including CyberPeace Institute, Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), Human Rights Watch and ARTICLE 19, we set out the key problems with the Convention, as well as concrete ways to fix them: https://lnkd.in/d6FQrZyV
The fight against cybercrime must not come at the expense of human rights, gender equality, and the dignity of the people whose lives will be affected by the emerging #UN Treaty. The CyberPeace Institute has joined more than a hundred NGOs in a statement delivered to the Ad Hoc Committee that outlines civil society's non-negotiable redlines for the Cybercrime Convention. https://lnkd.in/epbdd8v4

The news that Ottawa is beginning consultations on the creation of a public alert system for missing Indigenous women, girls and Two-Spirit people is hopeful. This is an initiative that we have advocated for and believe is imperative to the safety of Indigenous women, girls and Two-Spirit people. We hope that this can be implemented nationwide and with haste and include the consultation of survivors, frontline workers and families to find the best way forward. https://lnkd.in/gUUD6sH6
