Early in my career, I used to think that working with a reputed brand should be the goal. But, after making 3 switches in 5 years of my career, I have realized one thing. That is, it is never about the brand you are working with. In the initial few days after joining, you feel ecstatic in bragging about the brand you are working with. But, in the long run, it is all about the work and the manager you are working with. So, if you are changing your job, do your research on the quality of work you would be doing. And find out about the work culture where you would be joining.
That's true, at the end of the day it's your manager and the actual work that'll define how long you will stay committed to your organization!
That's True, but are there any practical ways to find out about the manager or work culture of any firm?
Absolutely, the prestige of a brand can be exciting initially, but it's the quality of work and the work culture that truly defines our job satisfaction and career growth. A fulfilling role with a supportive manager often outweighs the allure of a high-profile company. Doing thorough research about the role and company culture can make a significant difference in our long-term happiness and success. Great insights—thanks for sharing!
In my experience, your first job only should be of good brand value in order to switch to your next job. Next all jobs are based on manager, work culture and the responsibilities you have.

Agreed Sourav Kumar!! Brand name might be the reason you join but work culture is the only reason that can make you stay.

1moTotally agree, but What to do in the case, when you join a company based on your research on culture, leadership and quality of work, but majority of that gets changed in negative ways as part of org restructuring?
