A recent survey revealed that 87% of Ukrainian parents believe their children face more threats today than ever before. Globally, this concern is shared by 75% of parents 🌍
For Ukrainians, the reasons are quite clear: war is leaving a devastating mark on children. 1 in 4 children (23%) around the world is directly impacted by war. In Ukraine, the number rises to 99%.
But war isn't the only concern. Here's a look at what children around the world are worried about:
📍 war: top concern in Ukraine, Japan, Serbia, and Türkiye
📍 mental health: Brazil, Estonia, Finland, the UK, the USA, and Lithuania
📍 environmental issues: Denmark and France
📍 school safety: Iraq and Qatar
📍 family concerns: Kenya
These findings are part of the 'Protection of Childhood: Security Dimensions for Children and Adolescents' survey, which gathered data from 15 countries. Children aged 13–17 and parents of children aged 10–17 were interviewed for the survey on such topics: the impact of war, school safety, online risks, well-being at home, and environmental threats.
The survey was conducted for the Fourth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen by an American company Catalyse Research. Presented at the Summit, it highlights global and local challenges today's youth face.
This research reminds us that protecting children is a priority we all share, no matter where you live 🫂
