Sam Blanchard is the Health Correspondent for The Sun newspaper and website in London and has more than six years of experience of reporting on the NHS, public health and medical and scientific research. He has been a journalist for more than a decade and has specialised in health and science since 2018 after working for local newspapers in Wiltshire. Before joining The Sun in 2021, he was Deputy Health Editor for MailOnline and he has a master's degree in journalism from City, University of London. Sam earned his health stripes while covering Britain's Covid-19 crisis from start to finish, including appearing on TV press conferences and leading The Sun's Give Britain a Booster and Do the Double vaccine campaigns with the support of the Government and NHS England. He has reported in depth on NHS performance and British public health, including recent exclusive stories about healthcare spending on Viagra and weight loss surgery, as well as doctors adding to treatment delays. Sam's health policy interests include trends and regulation in cosmetic procedures and surgery, and the obesity crisis. He also reports on breakthroughs in scientific journals, as well as travelling to some of the world's largest research conferences in Europe and the USA, plus health meetings at home in the UK. Sam's role at The Sun would not be complete without his steady stream of exclusive light-hearted and kooky science, psychology and sex stories, such as 'Swearing makes us happier', 'Wearing stilettos is a workout' and 'British lovers are bang average in bed'.
