Trump says Joe Biden ‘owes’ Elizabeth Warren the VP spot on his ticket because ‘she is responsible for his win’

PRESIDENT Donald Trump said Joe Biden "owes" Elizabeth Warren the vice president spot on his ticket because "she is responsible for his win."

Trump's comments come nearly two months after Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, announced he will be picking a woman as his running mate.

In an interview with the New York Post on Monday, Trump said: “I think Elizabeth Warren is responsible for Joe Biden’s win because she didn’t drop out and [Vermont Sen.] Bernie [Sanders] would have won every single state on Super Tuesday."

“I think he should pick Elizabeth Warren because Elizabeth Warren, more than any other person, including [South Carolina Rep.] Jim Clyburn and including anybody you can name, is responsible for the win of Joe Biden,” he added.

Both Warren and Clyburn endorsed Biden earlier this year.

Warren was the latest Democrat to end her run in the 2020 presidential race, following billionaire Mike BloombergSen. Amy Klobuchar, and Pete Buttigieg.

Trump told the NY Post: “If he’s gonna win — and I don’t know that he makes it to the starting gate — but if he does make it to the starting gate, [Warren is] responsible.

“She was responsible for his win so therefore I think he owes an obligation to pick Pocahontas."

Trump has previously called Warren "Pocahontas," poking fun at her claim to have American Indian heritage.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), a former presidential primary challenger of Biden, and former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, said she would accept the role if asked to run.

Trump also stated he was the one who helped Georgia Gov Brian Kemp beat Stacey Abrams.

He told the Post: “If you look at Stacey Abrams, I was the one that went to Georgia and fought Oprah Winfrey, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama.

“Kemp wasn’t given a chance. Kemp wasn’t given a chance to win and he won.

“They were there all the time campaigning for Stacey Abrams, their new great star. That didn’t work out too well."
According to a CBS News poll released Sunday, Warren is Democratic voters’ top choice for Biden to pick as a vice president.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), another one of Biden’s former primary challengers, also said she would be “honored” if she was considered.

Meanwhile, some Democrats have been urging Biden, 77, to draft Michelle Obama for the open VP spot.

A new committee called 'Draft Michelle Obama' is pushing for the former first lady to join Bide.

The former first lady has been praised as the best option both to defeat Trump in November and to aid Biden in leading the country if he wins.

“The Committee to Draft Michelle Obama firmly believes that Ms. Obama will not only benefit the Democratic ticket this November but also help lead this country to be more just and caring,” the committee said in a statement released Monday.
