It's not difficult to see why The Old Monk is one of Dallas' favorite watering holes. The place, adorned with ecclesiastical antiquities-- including lights from an old monastery, reclaimed dark wood paneling from confessional booths and a turn of the century altar door, is literally gushing with charm. It's also gushing with an exhaustive list of beer. We're talking Trappist brews like Dubbal and Chimay as well as draft and bottled beers from England, Holland, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, the Czech Republic and the United States. Also, on offer is a curated selection of whiskey as well as wine and craft cocktails. Oh, and the food (think wurst boards, fish &chips and Belgian-style steamed mussels) isn't too shabby here either.
