Find the Best Things to Do in Brixton

About Brixton
Brixton is a district in the South of London in the borough of Lambeth. Brixton has always been known for its vibrant social scene; in recent years, like many other parts of London it's acquired a 'village' centre and some great eating spots too. A destination for many in London.
See & Do
Brixton is famous for the Dutch artist Van Gogh having lodged in the borough for a time, although the private house has not been turned into a museum. It is also famous for a beautiful old Windmill, built 1816 and later converted to steam to mill white flour to meet public demand. Free guided tours are bookable too although you need to be fairly agile to climb the steps.
Eat
There are so many great places to eat in Brixton, that concentrating on just one restaurant or cafe would do a disservice to the others. For burgers, try 'Honest Burgers'; for cafe culture there are any number of great places to try, Federation Coffee is a good start though. Franco Manca is great for Pizza and has won lots of awards and mentions since it opened too. SE Asian, African and S Asian also great.
Party
The Brixton Academy is just the starting point for nightlife in the area. Big name bands and DJs as well as the latest up and coming names in the scene play here. Also in Brixton, you can find old style ball rooms, salsa clubs, pop, rock, indie and raves in pubs and clubs and special one off nighters. It's basically a brilliant place to go out, and fast by night bus back to central London.
Shop
Brixton has had a vibrant market since the 19th Century. The market has evolved along with Brixton's eclectic and ever changing population. In recent years it has become even more of a foodie paradise, but the prices and chi chi-ness have shot up in line with its popularity. As well as taking a culinary tour of the world, you can also shop antiques, clothes, presents and furniture to your heart's content.
