🌟 WMC at UNDP event: Emerging futures: Strategic Partnerships for Effective Blockchain Adoption for Development🌟 On July 2 2024, Tadej Slapnik, CEO at the World Metaverse Council participated in Emerging Futures: Digital Partnerships for Sustainable Finance, an event organized by the UNDP with the financial support of Islamic Development Bank (IsDB). This blockchain-focused gathering was a beacon of innovation, showcasing how digital technology can revolutionize development and humanitarian efforts, particularly in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. 💡 Blockchain as a Catalyst for Change💡 The event brought together participants from over 30 countries, underscoring a global interest in harnessing blockchain for sustainable development. Key figures from the Cardano Foundation, Algorand Foundation and other leading organizations delivered motivational talks and discussions. They highlighted blockchain's ability to enhance transparency, efficiency, and trust among stakeholders. One standout session explored blockchain's role in creating sustainable financing models, covering topics such as digital payments, tokenization, and carbon credit. 🤝 Fostering Collaboration and Building Trust 🤝 The event emphasized the importance of partnerships and networks among UN agencies, non-profits, tech developers, and blockchain industry leaders. It fostered a collaborative platform for stakeholders to implement blockchain solutions, focusing on building, testing, validating, and scaling these initiatives. Cross-chain collaboration and community impact were highlighted, reinforcing the vision of achieving greater changes together. 🎓 Mainstreaming Blockchain Education 🎓 A significant highlight was the launch of the Algorand Blockchain Academy in partnership with UNDP. This initiative aims to empower UN staff with the skills needed to utilize blockchain effectively. Educational sessions provided hands-on experiences, demystifying blockchain for newcomers and deepening understanding for those already familiar with the technology. 🚀 Looking Ahead 🚀 The event laid the groundwork for the future of blockchain in global development, highlighting its potential and setting the stage for further implementation, education, and collaboration. From blockchain-based financial services for unbanked populations to tracking food supply chains for safety and waste reduction, the possibilities are endless. This year’s convention promises several surprises and exciting news. For the first time, artificial intelligence will be used to translate the opening ceremony into all EU languages. The event will commence with the MIPRO Annual ICT Award ceremony, recognizing significant contributions to the development of ICT. One of the award recipients is Nobel laureate Prof. Ferenc Krausz. Following this, Oliver Oberst from IBM will deliver a plenary lecture on "Quantum Computing: A Quantum Leap into the Future." The formal opening will conclude with a roundtable discussion on the topic "Smart Vision of the Future." Tadej Slapnik will also be participating in the panel discussion "Vision of the Smart Future."
