2 separately accused of Social Security benefits fraud

A Butler Township woman and a Pittsburgh man have been separately indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh for allegedly getting Social Security money they were not entitled to receive.

Amy Lynn Snow, 50, of 812 Bullcreek Road, Butler Township, and Gerald Edward Black, 48, of 208 Jarvis St., Pittsburgh, are facing charges, U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady said Wednesday.

Snow is charged with receiving Supplemental Security Income money and making two false statements material to her entitlement to receive SSI.

According to his indictment, Black received about $20,000 in SSI benefits that he knew he wasn’t entitled to.

He is also charged with failing to disclose changes to his child’s living arrangements with the intent to deceive the Social Security Administration as well making a false statement material to his child’s right to receive SSI benefits.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Rebecca L. Silinski is prosecuting both cases, and the Social Security Administration’s Office of Inspector General conducted both investigations.
