Gave it a try again.. not so much (~_~)

My daughter recommended Apple Maps saying it had improvements. So I thought I would give it a chance. I like the updated turn by turn directions with well marked traffic lights and next turn coming up. One dislike when I got to my destination; I wanted it to give directions home to test accuracy. I have tried Apple Maps in the pastI put my address in and I got the error “can’t connect to server”. Location was turned on because it took me there. And I was getting data and text messages. Google maps was able to connect and give me directions instantly. Setting up my home and work using my contacts was terrible. Maps changed “My Card” to my work contact through maps then I couldn’t edit it! I had to do several searches to find instructions change “My card” back to my contact. I got this mixed up because I assigned my work contact to the work shortcut in maps. No it is not that easy, you have to add your work address in your own contact that is associated with “My Card”. Again pure frustration!! It was hidden in Siri search and settings not intuitive at all. Frustrating because I haven’t had to do this since I have set up the phone!

Preferred Map app

Not sure why the Apple Maps app continues to have relatively poor reviews. I’ve used google maps and Waze over time and for several years after its release I avoided Apple maps because it was inaccurate, unreliable, and at times even dangerous. However, for the past couple years, I’ve used Apple Maps far more than the others. While it’s not perfect, neither is Google Maps or Waze. The Apple Maps UI is pleasant and easy to use, though search could be improved in terms of how to find things that are not near your current location. Transit directions are great and easy to follow and the new AR guidance for walking directions are super cool. The upgraded maps that has rolled out over the past few years have also dramatically improved the look of the app over Google Maps and Waze. I prefer the voice guidance as well, which seems to provide clearer guidance and instructions in most cases than other apps. Apple definitely still needs to continue to improve the app, but I am happy to say that it’s a great maps app to use on the iPhone and definitely one to consider now over Waze or google maps.

BE QUIET

I am extremely autistic, I have such high anxiety, it is already insane how much Apple Maps talks to you. I drove a mile and on the same block I got four instructions for it. At the next light turn right. One. Go past this light then at the next one make a right. Two. About halfway down the block it says at street name turn right. Then I approach the street and it says get in the right lane and make a right. FOUR. INSANE. That is about 100 feet of driving and then instruction. I dealt with all that because I kind of get it. Today you’ve added this fun little feature where every single time I open Maps you scream to me that if there’s an issue to report it on Siri. I cannot handle the constant stimulation. I CANNOT. I drive for a living. I use Maps about 30 times a day. I hate Google maps. It is so confusing but I don’t care. I literally don’t care. I would rather do anything. Literally than use Apple Maps and support Apple Maps. On top of the fact that you’re wrong, so often. I truly and sincerely from the bottom of my heart know you guys have ruined Apple Maps. A few years ago I loved Apple Maps and used to boast to everyone when they would claim Google was the way to go. I would always say no not for me. But yeah, you have lost me. I literally would rather walk somewhere I don’t know with no direction blindfolded on a bed of knives then use Apple Maps for help.
