Labor and Freedomby Eugene V. Debs
Published by Phil Wagner, St. Louis, MO, 1916.
Collection of articles by Socialist leader Gene Debs reprinted from the pages of the radical press. None of this material is included in the 1908 campaign biography, Life and Writings.
Notable is the epigram at the front, "While there is a lower class, I am in it..." etc. This may be the first time that this famous quote appeared in print, although it was made prominent during the trial after the 1918 Canton speech.
