Measurements of circular polarization of $γ$-ray emitted from neutron capture reactions provide valuable information for nuclear physics studies. The spin and parity of excited states can be determined by measuring the circular polarization from polarized neutron capture reactions. Furthermore, the $γ$-ray circular polarization in a neutron capture resonance is crucial for studying the enhancement effect of parity nonconservation in compound nuclei. The $γ$-ray circular polarization can be measured using a polarimeter based on magnetic Compton scattering. A polarimeter was constructed, and its performance indicators were evaluated using a circularly polarized $γ$-ray beam. Furthermore, as a demonstration, the $γ$-ray circular polarization was measured in $^{32}$S($\vec{\textrm{n}}$,$γ$)$^{33}$S reactions with polarized neutrons.

Abstract:
Specular reflection of neutrons on material surfaces has been demonstrated in the energy range of 0.09-0.7 eV. The results suggest that the applicable energy range of reflective neutron optics can be extended to the near-epithermal region by using existing techniques.

Transform-limited photon emission from quantum emitters is essential for high-fidelity entanglement generation. In this study, we report the coherent optical property of a single negatively-charged lead-vacancy (PbV) center in diamond. Photoluminescence excitation measurements reveal stable fluorescence with a linewidth of 39 MHz at 6 K, close to the transform-limit estimated from the lifetime measurement. We observe four orders of magnitude different linewidths of the two zero-phonon-lines, and find that that the phonon-induced relaxation in the ground state contributes to this huge difference in the linewidth. Due to the suppressed phonon absorption in the PbV center, we observe nearly transform-limited photon emission up to 16 K, demonstrating its high temperature robustness compared to other color centers in diamond.

Largely enhanced parity-violating effects observed in compound resonances induced by epithermal neutrons are currently attributed to the mixing of parity-unfavored partial amplitudes in the entrance channel of the compound states. Furthermore, it is proposed that the same mechanism that enhances the parity-violation also enhances the breaking of time-reversal-invariance in the compound nucleus. The entrance-channel mixing induces energy-dependent spin-angular correlations of individual $γ$-rays emitted from the compound nuclear state. For a detailed study of the mixing model, a $γ$-ray yield in the reaction of $^{117}$Sn(n,$γ$)$^{118}$Sn was measured using the pulsed beam of polarized epithermal neutrons and Ge detectors. An angular dependence of asymmetric $γ$-ray yields for the orientation of the neutron polarization was observed.

Improvements in fabrication devices such as 3D printers are becoming possible for personal fabrication to freely fabricate any products. To clarify who is liable for the product, the fabricator should keep the fabrication history in an immutable and sustainably accessible manner. In this paper, we propose a new scheme, "Fabchain," that can record the fabrication history in such a manner. By utilizing a scheme that employs a blockchain as an audit-able communication channel, Fabchain manages print jobs for the fabricator's 3D printer over the blockchain, while maintaining a history of a print job. We implemented Fabchain on Ethereum and evaluated the performance for recording a print job. Our results demonstrate that Fabchain can complete communication of a print job sequence in less than 1 minute on the Ethereum test network. We conclude that Fabchain can manage a print job in a reasonable duration for 3D printing, while satisfying the requirements for immutability and sustainability.

In Bitcoin, to independently verify whether new transactions are correct or not, a type of a node called "Full Node" has to hold the whole of historical transactions. The transactions are stored in ledger called "Blockchain. " Blockchain is an append-only data structure. Thus, to operate Full Nodes, the required storage capacity would grow too large for resource-constrained devices. Due to the limitation, the existing lightweight node scheme is that a node relies on other Full Nodes. In this thesis, to reduce storage capacity with keeping the independence of each node, we propose a storage load balancing scheme "KARAKASA" using Distributed Hash Table (DHT). In KARAKASA, nodes distributedly keep the whole blockchain among DHT networked nodes. We evaluated KARAKASA from the view of storage capacity and independence. As a result, a node in a cluster does not need to trust other nodes. We concluded that nodes in a DHT cluster can behave like Full Nodes without holding the whole blockchain.

We first confirm that Nishijima's method of the $π^0 \rightarrow γ+γ$ calculation can precisely reproduce the observed life time of $π^0$ decay. Then, we calculate, for the first time, the T-matrix of the $Z^0 \rightarrow γ+γ$ process in which the vertex of the $γ^μγ_5$ is responsible for the decay of the weak vector boson. Even though the decay rate itself vanishes to zero due to the symmetry nature of two photons (Landau-Yang theorem), the T-matrix of the process has neither linear nor logarithmic divergences. Therefore, there is no room for the regularization of the triangle diagrams with the $γ^μγ^5$ vertex. Further, the T-matrices of all the triangle diagrams do not have any divergences at all, and therefore it is rigorously proved that the anomaly equation is spurious and appears only because of the improper regularization of unphysical amplitudes.

Molecular clouds around a run-away O star z Oph have been surveyed with NANTEN telescope and their streaming motion caused by z Oph has been detected. z Oph is the earliest member of the Sco OB2 association and is a runaway star rapidly moving with an HII region, S27. We detected 2 major filamentary cloud complexes; one including L156 (L156 complex) is lying across nearly the center of S27, and the other one (L204 complex) is located near the eastern edge of S27. Total masses of them traced by the 12CO are 520 Mo and 1110 Mo, respectively. Denser cloud cores detected in C18O are locally distributed on the near side of the L204 complex to z Oph, and lower density gas traced by 12CO spreads toward the opposite side. Both complexes have radial velocity shifts that are correlated with the gas density. These spatial and velocity structures can be interpreted as follows; (1) the L156 complex is stuck on the expanding Stromgrem sphere and has been accelerated, (2) the gas in L204 complex was compressed and has also been accelerated outward by z Oph, resulting the radial velocity shifts of diffuse low-density gas relative to the dense cores embedded in the clouds. These density and velocity structures indicate dynamical interaction between the HII region and the molecular clouds. The cloud complexes are divided into 7 clouds by intensity distributions. In order to investigate the acceleration mechanism, we calculated momentum and kinetic energy for each cloud. They range from 60 to 800 Mo km/s and from 0.9 to 21 times 10^45 erg, respectively. We examined the effects of the stellar wind and photo evaporation by UV field of z Oph and found that the stellar wind can hardly input the momentum during the crossing time of the movement of z Oph. UV radiation seems to be a more likely origin of the streaming gas motion.
