Although, in the previous paper [arXiv:2402.14512], we considered different types of the dilaton boundary conditions, but since the behavior of $β$-function as a function of running coupling does not depend significantly on the boundary condition, we chose one. The corresponding $β$-functions are negative and monotonically decreasing functions, and have jumps on the 1-st order phase transitions for both light and heavy quarks. In addition, we compare our holographic results for $β$-function as a function of running coupling with perturbation results that obtained within 2-loop calculations.

We use the boundary condition that ensures the agreement with lattice calculations of string tension between quarks at zero chemical potential. The location of the 1-st order phase transitions in $(μ, T)$-plane does not depend on the dilaton boundary conditions. We observe that running coupling $α$ decreases with increasing magnetic field for the fixed values of chemical potential and temperature. At the 1-st order phase transitions the functions $α$ undergo jumps depending on temperature, chemical potential and magnetic field.

We consider running coupling constant and beta-function in holographic models supported by Einstein-dilaton-Maxwell action for heavy and light quarks. To obtain the dependence of the running coupling constant $α$ on temperature and chemical potential we impose boundary conditions on the dilaton field that depend on the position of the horizon. We use two types of boundary conditions: a simple boundary condition with the dilaton field vanishing at the horizon, and a boundary condition that ensures agreement with lattice calculations of string tension between quarks at zero chemical potential. The location of the first-order phase transitions in $(T,μ)$-plane does not depend on the dilaton boundary conditions for light and heavy quarks. At these phase transitions, the functions $α$ and $β$ undergo jumps depending on temperature and chemical potential. We also show that for the second boundary conditions the running coupling decreases with increasing temperature and the dependence on temperature and chemical potential for both light and heavy quarks are actually specified by functions of one variable, demonstrating in this sense auto-model behavior.

Placing a black hole in a cavity is known to be a natural way to study different scales in gravity, issues related to the thermodynamic instability and gravity effective theories. In this paper, we consider the evolution of the entanglement entropy and entanglement islands in the two-sided generalization of the Schwarzschild black hole in a cavity. Introducing a reflecting boundary in the eternal black exteriors we regulate infrared modes of Hawking radiation and find that entanglement entropy saturates at some constant value. This value could be lower than black hole thermodynamic entropy, thus not leading to Page formulation of information paradox. Concerning the entanglement islands, we find a universal effect induced by the boundary presence, which we call ``blinking island" -- for some time the entanglement island inevitably disappears, thus leading to a short-time information paradox.

Black holes violate the third law of thermodynamics, and this gives rise to difficulties with the microscopic description of the entropy of black holes. Recently, it has been shown that the microscopic description of the Schwarzschild black hole thermodynamics in $D = 4$ spacetime dimensions is provided by the analytical continuation of the entropy of Bose gas with non-relativistic one particle energy to d =-4 negative spatial dimension. In this paper, we show that the D=5 and D=6 Schwarzschild black holes thermodynamics can be modeled by the d-dimensional Bose gas, d=1,2,3..., with the one particle energy $\varepsilon(k)=k^α$ under conditions $α=-d/3$ and $α=-d/4$, respectively. In these cases the free energy of the Bose gas has divergences and we introduce a cut-off and perform the minimal renormalizations. We also perform renormalizations using analytical regularization and prove that the minimal cut-off renormalization gives the same answer as the analytical regularization by the Riemann zeta-function.

However, that model did not describe the magnetic catalysis (MC) phenomena expected from lattice results for the QGP made up from heavy quarks. In this paper we fill this gap and construct the model that improves the previous one. It keeps typical properties of the heavy quarks phase diagram, and meanwhile possesses the MC. The deformation of previous model includes the modification of the "heavy quarks" warp factor and the coupling function for the Maxwell field providing the non-trivial chemical potential.

In this paper, we consider the entanglement entropy of conformal matter for finite and semi-infinite entangling regions, as well as the formation of entanglement islands in four-dimensional de Sitter spacetime partially reduced to two dimensions. We analyze complementarity and pure state condition of entanglement entropy of pure states as a consistency test of the CFT formulas in this geometrical setup, which has been previously used in the literature to study the information paradox in higher-dimensional de Sitter in the context of the island proposal. We consider two different types of Cauchy surfaces in the extended static patch and flat coordinates, correspondingly. For former, we found that entanglement entropy of a pure state is always bounded from below by a constant and never becomes zero, as required by quantum mechanics. In turn, the difference between the entropies for some region and its complement, which should be zero for a pure state, in direct calculations essentially depends on how the boundaries of these regions evolve with time. Regarding the flat coordinates, it is impossible to regularize spacelike infinity in a way that would be compatible with complementarity and pure state condition, as opposed, for instance, to two-sided Schwarzschild black hole. Finally, we discuss the information paradox in de Sitter and show that the island formula does not resolve it, at least in this setup. Namely, we give examples of a region with a time-limited growth of entanglement entropy, for which there is no island solution, and the region, for which entanglement entropy does not grow, but the island solution exists.

In this paper, infrared regularization of semi-infinite entangling regions and island formation for regions of finite size in the eternal Schwarzschild black hole are considered. We analyze whether the complementarity property and pure state condition of entanglement entropy can be preserved in the given approximation. We propose a special regularization that satisfies these two properties. With regard to entangling regions of finite size, we derive two fundamental types of them, which we call "mirror-symmetric" (MS) and "asymmetric" (AS). For MS regions, we discover a discontinuous evolution of the entanglement entropy of Hawking radiation due to finite lifetime of the island. The entanglement entropy of matter for semi-infinite regions in two-sided Schwarzschild black hole does not follow the Page curve. The lifetime of AS regions is bounded from above due to the phenomenon that we call "Cauchy surface breaking". Shortly before this breaking, the island configuration becomes non-symmetric. For both types of finite regions, there is a critical size, below which the island never dominates. For regions smaller than some other critical size, the island does not emerge. Finally, we show that the island prescription does not help to solve the information paradox for certain finite regions.

The dependence of the 5-dim black hole solution and confinement/deconfinement phase diagram on this magnetic field is considered. The effect of the inverse magnetic catalyses for light quarks phase diagram is obtained. Positions of critical end points are found. We also study the behavior of the conductivity for light quarks in both isotropic and anisotropic cases and show that behaviour of the conductivity near critical points essentially depend on quark masses, meanwhile at high temperature they are similar.

We examine the dependence of the effective potential on the spatial Wilson loops orientation in fully anisotropic background. For this purpose we obtain general formulas for the effective potential and study appearance of the effective potential dynamical wall. We consider particular fully anisotropic model [arXiv:2011.07023] supported by Einstein-Dilaton-three-Maxwell action. The effective potential strongly depends on the parameters of anisotropy and magnetic field, therefore the energy loss depends on physical parameters $-$ $T$, $μ$, $c_B$ and orientation. Orientation is determined by angles between the moving heavy quark velocity, the axis of heavy ions collision and their impact parameter vector.

We discuss a general five-dimensional completely anisotropic holographic model with three different spatial scale factors, characterized by a Van der Waals-like phase transition between small and large black holes. A peculiar feature of the model is the relation between anisotropy of the background and anisotropy of the colliding heavy ions geometry. We calculate the holographic entanglement entropy (HEE) of the slab-shaped region, the orientation of which relatively to the beams line and the impact parameter is characterized by the Euler angles. We study the dependences of the HEE and its density on the thermodynamic (temperature, chemical potential) and geometric (parameters of anisotropy, thickness, and orientation of entangled regions) parameters. As a particular case the model with two equal transversal scaling factors is considered. This model is supported by the dilaton and two Maxwell fields. In this case we discuss the HEE and its density in detail: interesting features of this model are jumps of the entanglement entropy and its density near the line of the small/large black hole phase transition. These jumps depend on the anisotropy parameter, chemical potential, and orientation. We also discuss different definitions and behavior of c-functions in this model. The c-function calculated in the Einstein frame decreases while increasing $\ell$ for all $\ell$ in the isotropic case (in regions of $(μ,T)$-plane far away from the line of the phase transition). We find the non-monotonicity of the c-functions for several anisotropic configurations, which however does not contradict with any of the existing c-theorems since they all base on Lorentz invariance.

Different charges of the particle lead to qualitatively different behavior of the particle momenta and consequently change of the operator size behavior. We study thermalization in the holographic (1+1)-dimensional CFT after simultaneous generation of two high-energy excitations in the antipodal points on the circle. The holographic picture of such quantum quench is the creation of BTZ black hole from a collision of two massless particles. We perform holographic computation of entanglement entropy and mutual information in the boundary theory and analyze their evolution with time. We show that equilibration of the entanglement in the regions which contained one of the initial excitations is generally similar to that in other holographic quench models, but with some important distinctions. We observe that entanglement propagates along a sharp effective light cone from the points of initial excitations on the boundary. The characteristics of entanglement propagation in the global quench models such as entanglement velocity and the light cone velocity also have a meaning in the bilocal quench scenario. We also observe the loss of memory about the initial state during the equilibration process. We find that the memory loss reflects on the time behavior of the entanglement similarly to the global quench case, and it is related to the universal linear growth of entanglement, which comes from the interior of the forming black hole. We also analyze general two-point correlation functions in the framework of the geodesic approximation, focusing on the study of the late time behavior.

After the quench, the system comes to equilibrium and the temperature increases from $T_i$ to $T_f$. Holographic dual of this process is provided by an injection of a thin shell of matter in the black hole background. The quantitative characteristics of the evolution depend substantially on the size of the initial black hole. We show that characteristic regimes during non-equilibrium heating do not depend on the initial temperature and are the same as in thermalization. Namely these regimes are pre-local-equilibration quadratic growth, linear growth and saturation regimes of the time evolution of the holographic entanglement entropy. We study the initial temperature dependence of quantitative characteristics of these regimes and find that the critical exponents do not depend on the temperature, meanwhile the prefactors are the functions on the temperature.

We find explicitly the time evolution of the mutual information during the non-equlibrium heating process from the initial temperature $T_i$ to the final temperature $T_f$ for the system of two intervals in the 1+1 dimensional case. We calculate widths and separation of twointervals for which the time dependence of the mutual information has the bell-like form, i.e. it starts from zero value at the wake up time, then reaches a maximal value and vanishes at the scrambling time. This form of the mutual information evolution was previously found in photosynthesis. The zone of the bell-like configurations exists for small distances $x<\log 2/2πT_i$ only for the particular interval sizes. For $x$ large enough, i.e. $x>>\log 2/2πT_i$, it exists only for large enough interval sizes and this zone becomes more narrow when $T_i$ increases and becomes larger with increasing of $T_f$.

To fit the experimental form of dependence of total multiplicity on energy, obtained at LHC, we have to deal with a special anisotropic holographic model, related with the Lifshitz-type background.
Our conjecture is that this Lifshitz-type background with non-zero chemical potential can be used to describe future data expected from NICA. In particular, we present the results of calculations of the holographic confinement/deconfinement phase transition in the $(μ,T)$ (chemical potential, temperature) plane in this anisotropic background and show the dependence of the transition line on the orientation of the quark pair. This dependence leads to a non-sharp character of physical confinement/deconfinement phase in the $(μ,T)$-plane. We use the bottom-up soft wall approach incorporating quark confinement deforming factor and vector field providing the non-zero chemical potential. In this model we also estimate the holographic photon production.

In this paper, we study behaviour of Wilson loops in the boost-invariant nonequilibrium anisotropic quark-gluon plasma produced in heavy-ion collisions within the holographic approach. We describe the thermalization studying the evolution of the Vaidya metric in the boost-invariant and spatially anisotropic background. To probe the system during this process we calculate rectangular Wilson loops oriented in different spatial directions. We find that anisotropic effects are more visible for the Wilson loops lying in the transversal plane unlike the Wilson loops with partially longitudinal orientation. In particular, we observe that the Wilson loops can thermalizes first unlike to the order of the isotropic model. We see that Wilson loops on transversal contours have the shortest thermalization time. We also calculate the string tension and the pseudopotential at different temperatures for the static quark-gluon plasma. We show that the pseudopotential related to the configuration on the transversal plane has the screened Cornell form. We also show that the jet-quenching parameter related with the average of the light-like Wilson loop exhibits the dependence on orientations.

The geodesics prescription in holographic approach in Lorentzian signature is valid only for geodesics which connect spacelike-separated points at the boundary, since there are no timelike geodesics which reach the boundary. There is also no straightforward analytic Euclidean continuation for a general background, such as e. g. moving particle in AdS. We propose an improved geodesic image method for two-point Lorentzian correlators which is valid for arbitrary time intervals in case of the bulk spacetime deformed by point particles. We illustrate that our prescription is consistent with the case when the analytic continuation exists and with the quasigeodesics prescription used in previous work. We also discuss some other applications of the improved image method, such as holographic entanglement entropy and multiple particles in AdS3.

Using black brane solutions in 5d Lifshitz-like backgrounds with arbitrary dynamical exponent $ν$, we construct the Vaidya geometry, asymptoting to the Lifshitz-like spacetime, which represents a thin shell infalling at the speed of light. We apply the new Lifshitz-Vaidya background to study the thermalization process of the quark-gluon plasma via the thin shell approach previously successfully used in several backgrounds. We find that the thermalization depends on the chosen direction because of the spatial anisotropy. The plasma thermalizes thus faster in the transversal direction than in the longitudinal one. To probe the system described by the Lifshitz-like backgrounds, we also calculate the holographic entanglement entropy for the subsystems delineated along both transversal and longitudinal directions. We show that the entropy has some universality in the behavior for both subsystems. At the same time, we find that certain characteristics strongly depend on the critical exponent $ν$.

We present the holographic computation of the boundary two-point correlator using the GKPW prescription for a scalar field in the AdS$_3$ space with a conical defect. Generally speaking, a conical defect breaks conformal invariance in the dual theory, however we calculate the classical Green functions for a scalar field in the bulk with conical defect and use them to compute the two-point correlator in the boundary theory. We compare the obtained general expression with previous studies based on the geodesic approximation. They are in good agreement for short correlators, and main discrepancy comes in the region of long correlations. Meanwhile, in case of $\mathbb{Z}_r$-orbifold, the GKPW result coincides with the one obtained via geodesic images prescription and with the general result for the boundary theory, which is conformal in this special case.

We show that within geodesic approximation the ultra-relativistic massless defect due to gravitational lensing of the geodesics, produces a zone structure for correlators with broken conformal invariance. Meanwhile, the holographic entanglement entropy also exhibits a transition to the non-conformal behaviour. Two colliding massless defects produce more diverse zone structure for correlators and the entanglement entropy.

The solutions to the domain wall profile equations are found. Further, the study makes a connection with the implications for the quark-gluon plasma formation in heavy-ion collisions. According to the holographic approach, the multiplicity of particles produced in heavy-ion collisions can be estimated by the area of the trapped surface formed in shock wave collisions. We calculate the areas of trapped surfaces in the geometry of two colliding Lifshitz domain walls. Our estimates show that for five-dimensional cases with certain values of the critical exponent the dependence of multiplicity on the energy of colliding ions is rather close to the experimental data ${\cal M} \sim s^{\,0.15}$ observed at RHIC and LHC.

We study holographic thermalization of a strongly coupled theory inspired by two colliding shock waves in a vacuum confining background. Holographic thermalization means a black hole formation, in fact a trapped surface formation. As a vacuum confining background we considered a well know bottom-up AdS/QCD model that provides the Cornell potential as well as reproduces QCD beta-function. We perturb vacuum background by colliding domain shock waves, that are assumed to be holographically dual to heavy ions collisions. Our main physical assumption is that we can make a restriction on the time of a trapped surface production that makes a natural limitation on the size of the domain where the trapped surface is produced. This limits the intermediate domain where the main part of the entropy is produced. In this domain one can use an intermediate vacuum background as an approximation to the full confining background. In this intermediate background a dependence of the produced entropy on colliding energy is very similar to the experimental dependence of particles multiplicities on colliding ions energy obtained from RHIC and LHC. This permits us to conclude that the entropy produced in collisions of domain shock waves during a short time models rather well the experimental data.

The quark-gluon plasma formed as a result of heavy-ion collisions is currently investigated actively both theoretically and experimentally. According to the holographic approach, forming a quark-gluon plasma in the four-dimensional world is associated with creating black holes in a five-dimensional anti-de Sitter space. The multiplicity of particles produced in heavy-ion collisions is then determined by the entropy of the five-dimensional black hole, which is estimated by the area of the trapped surface. To fit the experimental data for multiplicity Kiritsis and Taliotis have proposed to consider black holes formation in modified ${AdS}_5$ spaces with different $b$-factors. In this paper we consider the formation of black holes under collision of membranes in modified ${AdS}_5$ spaces with $b$-factors. Following the previous proposals we consider the power-law and exponential $b$-factors, as well as mixed types of $b$-factors. We study dynamics of the change of the trapped surface area depending on the energy for each investigated space. We find that the power-law and mixed factors fit better to the experimental date.

The phase diagram of quark gluon plasma (QGP) formed at a very early stage just after the heavy ion collision is obtained by using a holographic dual model for the heavy ion collision. In this dual model colliding ions are described by the charged shock gravitational waves. Points on the phase diagram correspond to the QGP or hadronic matter with given temperatures and chemical potentials. The phase of QGP in dual terms is related to the case when the collision of shock waves leads to formation of trapped surface. Hadronic matter and other confined states correspond to the absence of trapped surface after collision.
Multiplicity of the ion collision process is estimated in the dual language as area of the trapped surface. We show that a non-zero chemical potential reduces the multiplicity. To plot the phase diagram we use two different dual models of colliding ions, the point and the wall shock waves, and find qualitative agreement of the results.

We discuss the classical aspects of dynamics of scalar models with non-positive Higgs potentials in the FRW cosmology. These models appear as effective local models in non-local models related with string field theories. After a suitable field redefinition these models have the form of local Higgs models with a negative extra cosmological term and the total Higgs potential is non-positively defined and has rather small coupling constant. The non-positivity of the potential leads to the fact that on some stage of evolution the expansion mode gives place to the mode of contraction, due to that the stage of reheating is absent. In these models the hard regime of inflation gives place to inflation near the hill top and the area of the slow roll inflation is very small. Meanwhile one can obtain enough e-foldings before the contraction to make the model under consideration admissible to describe inflation.

The OPERA collaboration has claimed the discovery of supeluminal neutrino propagation. However the superluminal interpretation of the OPERA result was refuted by Cohen and Glashow because it was shown that such superluminal neutrinos would lose energy rapidly via the bremsstrahlung of electron-positron pairs (arXiv:1109.6562). We note that the superluminal interpretation is still possible if there exists a new (dark) neutrino which can propagate with a superluminal velocity and which couples with usual neutrinos only via the mass mixing leading to neutrino oscillations. It is supposed that the physical laws are invariant under rotations and translations in a preferred reference frame. Two possible pictures to parameterize departures from Lorentz invariance are discussed: a "conventional" tachyonic dark neutrino and the modification of the Lagrangian by adding perturbations with the maximum attainable speed of the dark neutrino which is larger than the speed of light in vacuum. We analyze also the MINOS and SN1987a data and show that they are consistent with the conjecture that there exists the superluminal dark neutrino.

Classical versions of the Big Bang cosmological models of the universe contain a singularity at the start of time, hence the time variable in the field equations should run over a half-line. Nonlocal string field theory equations with infinite number of derivatives are considered and an important difference between nonlocal operators on the whole real line and on a half-line is pointed out.
We use the heat equation method and show that on the half-line in addition to the usual initial data a new arbitrary function (external source) occurs that we call the daemon function. The daemon function governs the evolution of the universe similar to Maxwell`s demon in thermodynamics. The universe and multiverse are open systems interacting with the daemon environment. In the simplest case the nonlocal scalar field reduces to the usual local scalar field coupled with an external source which is discussed in the stochastic approach to inflation. The daemon source can help to get the chaotic inflation scenario with a small scalar field.

We discuss various mechanisms of catalysis of black holes/wormholes (BH/WH) formation in particles collisions. The current paradigm suggests that BH/WH formation in particles collisions will happen when center of mass energies of colliding particles is sufficiently above the Planck scale (the transplanckian region). To estimate the BH/WH production we use the classical geometrical cross section. We confirm the classical geometrical cross section of the BH production reconsidering the process of two transplanckian particles collision in the rest frame of one of incident particles. This consideration permits to use the standard Thorne's hoop conjecture for a matter compressed into a region to prove a variant of the conjecture dealing with a total amount of compressed energy in the case of colliding particles. We calculate geometrical cross sections for different processes and for different background, in particular, for (A)dS. We show that results are in agreement with closed trapped surface (CTS) estimations though there are no general theorems providing that the BH formation follows from CTS's formation. We show that the process of BH formation is catalyzed by the negative cosmological constant and by a particular scalar matter, namely dilaton, while it is relaxed by the positive cosmological constant and at a critical value just turns off. Also we note that the cross section is sensible to the compactification of extra dimensions and to the particular brane model.

We show that formation of trapped surfaces on the past light cone is only possible when charge is below certain critical - situation similar to the collision of two ultrarelativistic charges in Minkowski space-time. This critical value depends on the energy of colliding particles and the value of a cosmological constant. There is richer structure of critical domains in $dS$ case. In this case already for chargeless particles there is a critical value of the cosmological constant only below which trapped surfaces formation is possible. Appearance of arbitrary small nonzero charge significantly changes the physical picture. Critical effect which has been observed in the neutral case does not take place more. If the value of the charge is not very large solution to the equation on trapped surface exists for any values of cosmological radius and energy density of shock waves. Increasing of the charge leads to decrease of the trapped surface area, and at some critical point the formation of trapped surfaces of the type mentioned above becomes impossible.

For space-time dimension $D\geq3$ there exists a critical value of the shock wave energy above which there is no trapped surface of this type. For $D>3$ the critical value of the shock wave energy depends on the de Sitter radius, and there is no this type trapped surface formation for a large cosmological constant. For D=3, the critical value of the shock wave energy is independent of the cosmological constant. At the critical point the trapped surface is finite. Below the critical energy value, the area of trapped surface depends on the cosmological constant and the shock wave energy.

The stability of isotropic cosmological solutions in the Bianchi I model is considered. We prove that the stability of isotropic solutions in the Bianchi I metric for a positive Hubble parameter follows from their stability in the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric. This result is applied to models inspired by string field theory, which violate the null energy condition. Examples of stable isotro…

We also consider the k-essence model and analyse the stability of solutions of the form $Φ(t)=t$.

Recent results on solutions to the equation of motion of the cubic fermionic string field theory and an equivalence of non-polynomial and cubic string field theories are discussed. To have a possibility to deal with both GSO(+) and GSO(-) sectors in the uniform way a matrix formulation for the NS fermionic SFT is used. In constructions of analytical solutions to open string field theories truncated pure gauge configurations parameterized by wedge states play an essential role. The matrix form of this parametrization for the NS fermionic SFT is presented. Using the cubic open superstring field theory as an example we demonstrate explicitly that for the large parameter of the perturbation expansion these truncated pure gauge configurations give divergent contributions to the equation of motion on the subspace of the wedge states. The perturbation expansion is cured by adding extra terms that are nothing but the terms necessary for the equation of motion contracted with the solution itself to be satisfied.
