Radiation Pressure Induced Oscillations of an Optically Levitating Mirror
Abstract: Optical Fabry-Perot cavity with a movable mirror is a paradigmatic optomechanical systems. While usually the mirror is supported by a mechanical spring, it has been shown that it is possible to keep one of the mirrors in a stable equilibrium purely by optical levitation without any mechanical support. In this work we expand previous studies of nonlinear dynamics of such a system by demonstrating a… ▽ More

On optical forces in spherical whispering gallery mode resonators
Abstract: In this paper we discuss the force exerted by the field of an optical cavity on a polarizable dipole. Ab initio description of nonlinear dynamics of coupled microdisk resonators with application to self-trapping dynamics
Abstract: Ab initio approach is used to describe the time evolution of the amplitudes of whispering gallery modes in a system of coupled microdisk resonators with Kerr nonlinearity. It is shown that this system demonstrates a transition between Josephson-like nonlinear oscillations and self-trapping behavior. Manifestation of this transition in the dynamics of radiative losses is studied.
