In the present work, we consider a spin 1/2 paramagnetic dimer embedded in a magnetic tunnel junction driven out of equilibrium by means of an applied voltage and an applied temperature gradient, in the presence of an external magnetic bias, which can be turn on/off. Here, we derive the spin excitation spectrum for a two spin 1/2 system analytically and show that an external magnetic field is required to lift the degeneracy in the triplet state, whether both spin units experience the magnetic field in the same direction or in opposite staggered directions. We show that an applied bias voltage in the absence of a magnetic field, transfers the magnetization from the magnetic leads into the spin units embedded in the molecule, hence breaking a symmetry and lifting the triplet degeneracy in the absence of external magnetization. From this theoretical demonstration, we then propose two schemes of magnetic driving to lift spin degeneracy in the spin excitation spectrum, which we named PMD (Parallel Magnetic Driving) and AMD (Anti-Parallel Magnetic Driving). We argue that a symmetry breaking is then required to project the spin configuration of a dimer into quantum transport measurements, and hence propose different schemes to detect the spin triplet state and the spin singlet state using differential conductivity measurements in the non-degenerate non-symmetric configuration of the spin dimer, and compare our results with the ones reported in the literature.

Novel understanding of the recent nanomagnet tailoring experiments and the possibility to further unveil the mechanisms by which the magnetic interactions arise in an atom by atom fashion covers importance as the demand for spin qubit and quantum state detection architectures increases. Here, we address the spin states of a molecular trimer comprising three localized spin moments embedded in a metallic tunnel junction and show that the pair spin interactions can be engineered through the electronic structure of the molecular trimer. We show that bias and gate voltages induce either a completely ferromagnetic state of the localized moments or a spin frustrated state with different stabilities, and that switching between these states is possible on demand by electrical control. The role of quantum coherence in the molecular trimer is discussed with regards to the spin ordering as well as the interplay among electronic interference and induced dephasing by the metallic leads. This work sets foundations for more robust all electrically controlled spin architectures usable in quantum engineering systems and serves as a test bench for exploring unresolved questions in magnetic ordering and symmetry.

Abstract:
New sequences of hyperoperations \cite{BE15,HI26,ACK28,GO47,TAR69} are presented together with their local algebraic properties. The commutative hyperoperations reported by Bennet \cite{BE15} are presented as a sequence of monoids. After identifying the semirings along the sequence, the corresponding fields are constructed via inverse completion.

The experimental realization of a coupled spin pair has been reported by Heiko Webber et.al and its theoretical description has been previously discussed including the condition that local magnetization of the junction is required for the individual moments to affect the electrons in the molecular ligand through the Kondo interaction. Here in this work, we show that when the couple spin pair is placed in an interferometry set up of the Aharonov-Bohm type additional features related to the switching behavior of the coupled spin pair emerge. This features lead to a phase dependent exchange magnetic field coming from the ferromagnets in proximity with the molecule, a phase dependent commutation of the singlet/triplet ground state around zero bias and it leads to variations in the voltage dependent effective exchange profile between the spin pair. These predictions contribute to the acceptance of the hypothesis that spin polarization can be harvested from quantum coherence in molecular quantum mechanics

We address the electronically induced anisotropy field acting on a spin moment comprised in a vibrating magnetic molecule located in the junction between ferromagnetic metals. Under weak coupling between the electrons and molecular vibrations, the nature of the anisotropy can be changed from favoring a high spin (easy axis) magnetic moment to a low spin (easy plane) by applying a temperature difference or a voltage bias across the junction. For unequal spin-polarizations in the ferromagnetic metals it is shown that the character of the anisotropy is essentially determined by the properties of the weaker ferromagnet. By increasing the temperature in this metal, or introducing a voltage bias, its influence can be suppressed such that the dominant contribution to the anisotropy is interchanged to the stronger ferromagnet. With increasing coupling strength between the molecular vibrations and the electrons, the nature of the anisotropy is locked into favoring easy plane magnetism.

An optimal measurement rate is found that minimizes the time to stably encode a Bell state in the target qubits, being of advantage in order to reduce detrimental effects from possible interactions with the environment. The quality of the entanglement is assessed in terms of the concurrence and the distance between the qubits state and the target Bell state is quantified by the fidelity.

The well-known Jarzynski equality, often written in the form $e^{-βΔF}=\langle e^{-βW}\rangle$, provides a non-equilibrium means to measure the free energy difference $ΔF$ of a system at the same inverse temperature $β$ based on an ensemble average of non-equilibrium work $W$. The accuracy of Jarzynski's measurement scheme was known to be determined by the variance of exponential work, denoted as ${\rm var}\left(e^{-βW}\right)$. However, it was recently found that ${\rm var}\left(e^{-βW}\right)$ can systematically diverge in both classical and quantum cases. Such divergence will necessarily pose a challenge in the applications of Jarzynski equality because it may dramatically reduce the efficiency in determining $ΔF$. In this work, we present a deformed Jarzynski equality for both classical and quantum non-equilibrium statistics, in efforts to reuse experimental data that already suffers from a diverging ${\rm var}\left(e^{-βW}\right)$. The main feature of our deformed Jarzynski equality is that it connects free energies at different temperatures and it may still work efficiently subject to a diverging ${\rm var}\left(e^{-βW}\right)$. The conditions for applying our deformed Jarzynski equality may be met in experimental and computational situations. If so, then there is no need to redesign experimental or simulation methods. Furthermore, using the deformed Jarzynski equality, we exemplify the distinct behaviors of classical and quantum work fluctuations for the case of a time-dependent driven harmonic oscillator dynamics and provide insights into the essential performance differences between classical and quantum Jarzynski equalities.

We consider charge and thermal transport properties of magnetically active paramagnetic molecular dimer. Generic properties for both transport quantities are reduced currents in the ferro- and anti-ferromagnetic regimes compared to the paramagnetic and efficient current blockade in the anti-ferromagnetic regime. In contrast, while the charge current is about an order of magnitude larger in the ferromagnetic regime, compared to the anti-ferromagnetic, the thermal current is efficiently blockaded there as well. This disparate behavior of the thermal current is attributed to current resonances in the ferromagnetic regime which counteract the thermal flow. The temperature difference strongly reduces the exchange interaction and tends to destroy the magnetic control of the transport properties. The weakened exchange interaction opens up a possibility to tune the system into thermal rectification, for both the charge and thermal currents.

A result of great theoretical and experimental interest, Jarzynski equality predicts a free energy change $ΔF$ of a system at inverse temperature $β$ from an ensemble average of non-equilibrium exponential work, i.e., $\langle e^{-βW}\rangle =e^{-βΔF}$. The number of experimental work values needed to reach a given accuracy of $ΔF$ is determined by the variance of $e^{-βW}$, denoted ${\rm var}(e^{-βW})$. We discover in this work that ${\rm var}(e^{-βW})$ in both harmonic and an-harmonic Hamiltonian systems can systematically diverge in non-adiabatic work protocols, even when the adiabatic protocols do not suffer from such divergence. This divergence may be regarded as a type of dynamically induced phase transition in work fluctuations. For a quantum harmonic oscillator with time-dependent trapping frequency as a working example, any non-adiabatic work protocol is found to yield a diverging ${\rm var}(e^{-βW})$ at sufficiently low temperatures, markedly different from the classical behavior. The divergence of ${\rm var}(e^{-βW})$ indicates the too-far-from-equilibrium nature of a non-adiabatic work protocol and makes it compulsory to apply designed control fields to suppress the quantum work fluctuations in order to test Jarzynski equality.

In the Matrix approach to graph transformation we represent simple digraphs and rules with Boolean matrices and vectors, and the rewriting is expressed using Boolean operators only. In previous works, we developed analysis techniques enabling the study of the applicability of rule sequences, their independence, state reachability and the minimal graph able to fire a sequence.
In the present paper we improve our framework in two ways. First, we make explicit (in the form of a Boolean matrix) some negative implicit information in rules. This matrix (called nihilation matrix) contains the elements that, if present, forbid the application of the rule (i.e. potential dangling edges, or newly added edges, which cannot be already present in the simple digraph). Second, we introduce a novel notion of application condition, which combines graph diagrams together with monadic second order logic. This allows for more flexibility and expressivity than previous approaches, as well as more concise conditions in certain cases. We demonstrate that these application conditions can be embedded into rules (i.e. in the left hand side and the nihilation matrix), and show that the applicability of a rule with arbitrary application conditions is equivalent to the applicability of a sequence of plain rules without application conditions. Therefore, the analysis of the former is equivalent to the analysis of the latter, showing that in our framework no additional results are needed for the study of application conditions. Moreover, all analysis techniques of [21, 22] for the study of sequences can be applied to application conditions.
