Abstract: Using $(2712.4 \pm 14.3) \times 10^6~ψ$(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we search for the hadronic transition $h_c \to π^+π^-J/ψ$ via $ψ(3686)\to π^0 h_c$. No significant signal is observed. Abstract: In this Letter, a systematic study of the weak radiative hyperon decay $Ξ^{0}\toΛγ$ at an electron-positron collider using entangled $Ξ^{0}\barΞ^{0}$ pair events is presented. Model-independent determination of the strong-phase difference between $D^0$ and $\bar{D}^0 \to π^+π^-π^+π^-$ decays

The reported results are valuable for measurements of the $C\!P$-violating phase $γ$ (also denoted $φ_3$) in $B^\pm \to DK^\pm$, $D \to π^+π^-π^+π^-$ decays, and the binning schemes are designed to provide good statistical sensitivity to this parameter. The expected uncertainty on $γ$ arising from the precision of the strong-phase measurements, when applied to very large samples of $B$-meson decays, is around $1.5^\circ$ or $2^\circ$, depending on the binning scheme. The binned strong-phase parameters are combined to give a value of $F_+^{4π} = 0.746 \pm 0.010 \pm 0.004$ for the $C\!P$-even fraction of $D^0 \to π^+π^-π^+π^-$ decays, which is around 30\% more precise than the previous best measurement of this quantity. △ Less

Broad-band X-ray spectral and timing properties of the accreting millisecond X-ray pulsar IGR J17498$-$2921 during the 2023 outburst

Abstract: We report on the broadband spectral and timing properties of the accreting millisecond X-ray pulsar IGR J17498$-$2921 during its April 2023 outburst using data from NICER (1$-$10 keV), NuSTAR (3$-$79 keV), Insight-HXMT (2$-$150 keV), and INTEGRAL (30$-$150 keV). We detect significant 401 Hz pulsations across the 0.5$-$150 keV band. The pulse fraction increases from $\sim$2% at 1 keV to $\sim$13% a… ▽ More We report on the broadband spectral and timing properties of the accreting millisecond X-ray pulsar IGR J17498$-$2921 during its April 2023 outburst using data from NICER (1$-$10 keV), NuSTAR (3$-$79 keV), Insight-HXMT (2$-$150 keV), and INTEGRAL (30$-$150 keV). We detect significant 401 Hz pulsations across the 0.5$-$150 keV band. The pulse fraction increases from $\sim$2% at 1 keV to $\sim$13% at 66 keV. Five type-I X-ray bursts have been detected, including three photospheric radius expansion bursts, with a rise time of $\sim$2 s and an exponential decay time of $\sim$5 s. The recurrence time is $\sim$9.1 h, which can be explained by unstable thermonuclear burning of hydrogen-deficient material on the neutron star surface. The quasi-simultaneous 1$-$150 keV broadband spectra from NICER, NuSTAR, and INTEGRAL can be well fitted by an absorbed reflection model, relxillCp, and a Gaussian line of instrumental origin. The Comptonized emission from the hot corona is characterized by a photon index $Γ$ of $\sim$1.8 and an electron temperature $kT_{\rm e}$ of $\sim$40 keV. We obtain a low inclination angle $i\sim34^{\circ}$. The accretion disk shows properties of strong ionization, $\log(ξ/{\rm erg~cm~s^{-1}})\sim4.5$, over-solar abundance, $A_{\rm Fe}\sim 7.7$, and high density, $\log(n_{\rm e}/{\rm cm^{-3}})\sim 19.5$. However, a lower disk density with normal abundance and ionization could also be possible. From the inner disk radius $R_{\rm in}=1.67R_{\rm ISCO}$ and the long-term spin-down rate of $-3.1(2)\times10^{-15}~{\rm Hz~s^{-1}}$, we constrain the magnetic field of IGR J17498$-$2921 in the range of $(0.9-2.4)\times10^8$ G. △ Less

Abstract: Although access to sufficient screen space is crucial to knowledge work, workers often find themselves with limited access to display infrastructure in remote or public settings. While virtual displays can be used to extend the available screen space through extended reality (XR) head-worn displays (HWD), we must better understand the implications of working with them in public settings from both… ▽ More Although access to sufficient screen space is crucial to knowledge work, workers often find themselves with limited access to display infrastructure in remote or public settings. While virtual displays can be used to extend the available screen space through extended reality (XR) head-worn displays (HWD), we must better understand the implications of working with them in public settings from both users' and bystanders' viewpoints. To this end, we conducted two user studies. We first explored the usage of a hybrid AR display across real-world settings and tasks. We focused on how users take advantage of virtual displays and what social and environmental factors impact their usage of the system. A second study investigated the differences between working with a laptop, an AR system, or a VR system in public. We focused on a single location and participants performed a predefined task to enable direct comparisons between the conditions while also gathering data from bystanders. The combined results suggest a positive acceptance of XR technology in public settings and show that virtual displays can be used to accompany existing devices. We highlighted some environmental and social factors. We saw that previous XR experience and personality can influence how people perceive the use of XR in public. In addition, we confirmed that using XR in public still makes users stand out and that bystanders are curious about the devices, yet have no clear understanding of how they can be used. △ Less

Nonlocal Attention Operator: Materializing Hidden Knowledge Towards Interpretable Physics Discovery

This t… ▽ More Despite the recent popularity of attention-based neural architectures in core AI fields like natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision (CV), their potential in modeling complex physical systems remains under-explored. Learning problems in physical systems are often characterized as discovering operators that map between function spaces based on a few instances of function pairs. This task frequently presents a severely ill-posed PDE inverse problem. In this work, we propose a novel neural operator architecture based on the attention mechanism, which we coin Nonlocal Attention Operator (NAO), and explore its capability towards developing a foundation physical model. In particular, we show that the attention mechanism is equivalent to a double integral operator that enables nonlocal interactions among spatial tokens, with a data-dependent kernel characterizing the inverse mapping from data to the hidden parameter field of the underlying operator. As such, the attention mechanism extracts global prior information from training data generated by multiple systems, and suggests the exploratory space in the form of a nonlinear kernel map. Consequently, NAO can address ill-posedness and rank deficiency in inverse PDE problems by encoding regularization and achieving generalizability. We empirically demonstrate the advantages of NAO over baseline neural models in terms of generalizability to unseen data resolutions and system states. Our work not only suggests a novel neural operator architecture for learning interpretable foundation models of physical systems, but also offers a new perspective towards understanding the attention mechanism. △ Less

The upper limit of the branching fraction at the 90\% confidence level is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(ψ(2S)\toγη_{c}(2S),η_{c}(2S)\toωφ)<2.24\times 10^{-7}$. We also update the branching fractions of $χ_{cJ}\to ωω$ and $χ_{cJ}\toωφ$ decays via the $ψ(2S)\toγχ_{cJ}$ transition. The branching fractions are determined to be $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c0}\toωω)=(10.63\pm0.11\pm0.46)\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c1}\toωω)=(6.39\pm0.07\pm0.29)\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c2}\toωω)=(8.50\pm0.08\pm0.38)\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c0}\toωφ)=(1.18\pm0.03\pm0.05)\times 10^{-4}$, $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c1}\toωφ)=(2.03\pm0.15\pm0.12)\times 10^{-5}$, and $\mathcal{B}(χ_{c2}\toωφ)=(9.37\pm1.07\pm0.59)\times 10^{-6}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. △ Less

Regeneration of Spin Wave in Atomic Vapor

Abstract: Conventionally, atomic vapor is perceived as a non-living system governed by the principles of thermodynamics and statistical physics. However, the demarcation line between life and non-life appears to be less distinct than previously thought. In a study of amplifying spin waves, we observe a phenomenon reminiscent of life: The atomic spin wave stored in atomic vapor has a capability of absorbing… ▽ More Conventionally, atomic vapor is perceived as a non-living system governed by the principles of thermodynamics and statistical physics. In a study of amplifying spin waves, we observe a phenomenon reminiscent of life: The atomic spin wave stored in atomic vapor has a capability of absorbing energy from an external light source, and exhibits behaviors akin to active regeneration. We demonstrate that this regeneration significantly enhances the lifetime and retrieval efficiency of the spin wave, while concurrently the noise is effectively suppressed. Our results suggest that the regeneration mechanism holds promise for mitigating the pronounced decoherence typically encountered in spin waves carried by room-temperature media, therefore offering potential applications in the realms of quantum information and precision measurements at ambient conditions. △ Less

Based on a… ▽ More The branching fraction of $D^+\to K_{S}^{0} π^{0}e^+ν_e$ is measured for the first time using $7.93~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=3.773$~GeV with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, and is determined to be ${\mathcal B}$($D^+\to K_S^0π^0e^+ν_e$) = $(0.881~\pm~0.017_{\rm stat.}~\pm~0.016_{\rm syst.})$\%. Based on an analysis of the $D^+\to K_S^0π^0e^+ν_e$ decay dynamics, we observe the $S\text{-}{\rm wave}$ and $P$-wave components with fractions of $f_{S\text{-}{\rm wave}}$ = $(6.13~\pm~0.27_{\rm stat.}~\pm ~0.30_{\rm syst.})\%$ and $f_{\bar K^{*}(892)^0}$ = $(93.88~\pm~0.27_{\rm stat.}~\pm~0.29_{\rm syst.})$\%, respectively. From these results, we obtain the branching fractions ${\mathcal B}$($D^+\to (K_S^0π^0)_{S\text{-}{\rm wave}}~e^+ν_e$) = $(5.41~\pm~0.35_{\rm stat.}~\pm~0.37_{\rm syst.})\times10^{-4}$ and ${\mathcal B}$($D^+\to \bar K^{*}(892)^0e^+ν_e$) = $(4.97~\pm~0.11_{\rm stat.}~\pm~0.12_{\rm syst.})$\%. In addition, the hadronic form-factor ratios of $D^{+} \to \bar {K}^{*}(892)^0e^+ν_e$ at $q^2=0$, assuming a single-pole dominance parameterization, are determined to be $r_V=\frac{V(0)}{A_1(0)}= 1.43~\pm~0.07_{\rm stat.}~\pm~0.03_{\rm syst.}$ and $r_2=\frac{A_2(0)}{A_1(0)}=0.72~\pm~0.06_{\rm stat.}~\pm~0.02_{\rm syst.}$. △ Less

Measurement of the Branching Fraction of \boldmath{$ψ(2S) \to γπ^0$}

Here, ${\cal B}$ is the branching fraction of $ψ(2S)\rightarrowγπ^{0}$ and $φ$ is the relative phase angle between the $ψ(2S)$ and continuum amplitudes. Due to insufficient off-resonance data, the branching fraction ${\cal B}(ψ(2S)\rightarrowγπ^{0})$ is determined to be in the range $[2.7, 9.7]\times10^{-7}$ within one standard deviation of the contour region. △ Less

Measurement of $Σ^+$ transverse polarization in $e^+e^-$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 3.68-3.71$ GeV

Abstract: Using $e^+e^-$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector at seven energy points ranging from 3.68 to 3.71 GeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $652.1~{\rm pb^{-1}}$, we present an energy-dependent measurement of the transverse polarization, relative phase and modulus ratio of the electromagnetic form factors of the $Σ^+$ hyperon in the $e^+e^- \to Σ^+ \barΣ^-$ reaction. Observation of $η_{c}(2S) \to K^{+}K^{-}η$

Abstract: By analyzing $(27.12 \pm 0.14)\times10^{8}$ $ψ(3686)$ events accumulated with the BESIII detector, the decay $η_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-} η$ is observed for the first time with a significance of $6.2σ$ after considering systematic uncertainties. The product of the branching fractions of $ψ(3686) \to γη_{c}(2S)$ and $η_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-} η$ is measured to be… ▽ More By analyzing $(27.12 \pm 0.14)\times10^{8}$ $ψ(3686)$ events accumulated with the BESIII detector, the decay $η_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-} η$ is observed for the first time with a significance of $6.2σ$ after considering systematic uncertainties. The product of the branching fractions of $ψ(3686) \to γη_{c}(2S)$ and $η_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-} η$ is measured to be $\mathcal{B}(ψ(3686) \toγη_{c}(2S))\times \mathcal{B}(η_{c}(2S)\to K^{+} K^{-}η)=(2.39 \pm 0.32 \pm 0.34) \times 10^{-6}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical, and the second one is systematic. The branching fraction of $η_{c}(2S)\to K^{+} K^{-}η$ is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(η_{c}(2S)\to K^{+} K^{-}η) = (3.42 \pm 0.46 \pm 0.48 \pm 2.44) \times 10^{-3}$, where the third uncertainty is due to the branching fraction of $ψ(3686) \to γη_{c}(2S)$. Using a recent BESIII measurement of $\mathcal{B} (η_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-}π^{0})$, we also determine the ratio between the branching fractions of $η_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-}η$ and $η_{c}(2S) \to K^{+} K^{-}π^{0}$ to be $1.49 \pm 0.22 \pm 0.25$, which is consistent with the previous result of BaBar at a comparable precision level. △ Less

AvatarPose: Avatar-guided 3D Pose Estimation of Close Human Interaction from Sparse Multi-view Videos

Abstract: Despite progress in human motion capture, existing multi-view methods often face challenges in estimating the 3D pose and shape of multiple closely interacting people. This difficulty arises from reliance on accurate 2D joint estimations, which are hard to obtain due to occlusions and body contact when people are in close interaction. To address this, we propose a novel method leveraging the perso… ▽ More Despite progress in human motion capture, existing multi-view methods often face challenges in estimating the 3D pose and shape of multiple closely interacting people. This difficulty arises from reliance on accurate 2D joint estimations, which are hard to obtain due to occlusions and body contact when people are in close interaction. To address this, we propose a novel method leveraging the personalized implicit neural avatar of each individual as a prior, which significantly improves the robustness and precision of this challenging pose estimation task. Concretely, the avatars are efficiently reconstructed via layered volume rendering from sparse multi-view videos. The reconstructed avatar prior allows for the direct optimization of 3D poses based on color and silhouette rendering loss, bypassing the issues associated with noisy 2D detections. To handle interpenetration, we propose a collision loss on the overlapping shape regions of avatars to add penetration constraints. Moreover, both 3D poses and avatars are optimized in an alternating manner. Our experimental results demonstrate state-of-the-art performance on several public datasets. △ Less

The decay $D^0\to b_1(1235)^-e^{+}ν_{e}$ is observed with a significance of 5.2$σ$ after considering systematic uncertainty, while evidence for the decay $D^+\to b_1(1235)^0 e^+ν_e$ is obtained with a 3.1$σ$ significance. The product branching fractions are determined to be ${\mathcal B}(D^0\to b_{1}(1235)^-e^{+}ν_{e})\times {\mathcal B} (b_1(1235)^-\to ωπ^-) = (0.72\pm0.18^{+0.06}_{-0.08})\times10^{-4}$ and ${\mathcal B}(D^+\to b_{1}(1235)^0e^{+}ν_{e})\times {\mathcal B} (b_1(1235)^0~\to ωπ^0) = (1.16\pm0.44\pm0.16)\times10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The ratio of their partial decay widths is determined to be $\frac{Γ(D^0\to b_{1}(1235)^-e^{+}ν_{e})}{2Γ(D^+\to b_{1}(1235)^0e^{+}ν_{e})}=0.78\pm0.19^{+0.04}_{-0.05}$, which is consistent with unity, predicted by isospin invariance, within uncertainties. △ Less

Its decay branching fraction is measured to be $(12.24\pm4.60(\mathrm{stat.})\pm2.37(\mathrm{syst.})\pm4.68(\mathrm{extr.}))\times 10^{-4}$, where the first uncertainty is stati… ▽ More Using $(2.712\pm0.014)\times10^{9}$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII, we find an evidence of the $η_{c}(2S)\to K^+ K^- η^{\prime}$ decay with a statistical significance of 3.1$σ$. The process $Λ_c^+\toΛa_0(980)^+$ is observed for the first time, and evidence for the pentaquark candidate $Σ(1380)^+$ decaying into $Λπ^+$ is found with statistical significance larger than $3σ$. The branching fraction product $\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+} \to Λa_0(980)^+) \; \mathcal{B}( a_0(980)^+ \to π^{+}η)$ is determined to be $(1.05 \pm 0.16_{\mathrm{stat}} \pm 0.05_{\mathrm{syst}} \pm 0.07_{\mathrm{ext}})\%$, which is larger than theoretical calculations by $1 - 2$ orders of magnitude. Here the third (external) systematic is from $\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+} \to Λπ^+ η)$. Finally, we precisely obtain the absolute branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(Λ_{c}^{+} \to Λπ^+ η) = (1.94 \pm 0.07_{\mathrm{stat}} \pm 0.11_{\mathrm{syst}})\%$. △ Less

The product of the decay constant and Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cs}|$ is determined to be $f_{D_s^+}|V_{cs}|=(246.5\pm5.9_{\rm stat}\pm3.6_{\rm syst}\pm0.5_{\rm input})_{μν}~\mathrm{MeV}$ and $f_{D_s^+}|V_{cs}|=(252.7\pm3.6_{\rm stat}\pm4.5_{\rm syst}\pm0.6_{\rm input}))_{τν}~\mathrm{MeV}$, respectively. Taking the value of $|V_{cs}|$ from a global fit in the Standard Model, we obtain ${f_{D^+_s}}=(252.8\pm6.0_{\rm stat}\pm3.7_{\rm syst}\pm0.6_{\rm input})_{μν}$ MeV and ${f_{D^+_s}}=(259.2\pm3.6_{\rm stat}\pm4.5_{\rm syst}\pm0.6_{\rm input})_{τν}$ MeV, respectively. Conversely, taking the value for $f_{D_s^+}$ from the latest lattice quantum chromodynamics calculation, we obtain $|V_{cs}| =(0.986\pm0.023_{\rm stat}\pm0.014_{\rm syst}\pm0.003_{\rm input})_{μν}$ and $|V_{cs}| = (1.011\pm0.014_{\rm stat}\pm0.018_{\rm syst}\pm0.003_{\rm input})_{τν}$, respectively. △ Less

Here, on the example of quasi-one-dimensional Kondo lattice compound CeCo$_2$Ga$_8$, we investigated angular dependent magnetotransport properties by planar Hall effect and planar anisotropic magnetoresistance measurements. Upon cooling from $T_K^{on}$ (an onset of incoherent Kondo scattering ) to below $T^*$ (where coherent $c$-$f$ hybridization comes into play), the two-fold symmetrical pattern of planar Hall effect changes sign gradually (i.e. $180^\circ$ phase shift); most strikingly, as a crossover, additional oscillations appear and persist until the heavy-electron state is stabilized below $T^*$. The absolute branching fractions of $D_{s1}(2536)^- \rightarrow \bar{D}^{*0}K^-$ and $D_{s2}^*(2573)^- \rightarrow \bar{D}^0K^-$ are measured for the first time to be $(35.9\pm 4.8\pm 3.5)\%$ and $(37.4\pm 3.1\pm 4.6)\%$, respectively. The measurements are in tension with predictions based on the assumption that the $D_{s1}(2536)$ and $D_{s2}^*(2573)$ are dominated by a bare $c\bar{s}$ component. The $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D_{s1}(2536)^-$ and $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ cross sections are measured, and a resonant structure at around 4.6~GeV with a width of 50~MeV is observed for the first time with a statistical significance of $15σ$ in the $e^+e^-\rightarrow D_s^+D^*_{s2}(2573)^-$ process. It could be the $Y(4626)$ found by the Belle collaboration in the $D_s^+D_{s1}(2536)^{-}$ final state, since they have similar masses and widths. High-Dimensional Distributed Sparse Classification with Scalable Communication-Efficient Global Updates

These methods partition the data and exploit parallelism to reduce memory and runtime, but suffer increasingly from communication costs as the data size or the number of iterations grows. Recent work on linear models has shown that a surrogate likelihood can be… ▽ More As the size of datasets used in statistical learning continues to grow, distributed training of models has attracted increasing attention. These methods partition the data and exploit parallelism to reduce memory and runtime, but suffer increasingly from communication costs as the data size or the number of iterations grows. Recent work on linear models has shown that a surrogate likelihood can be optimized locally to iteratively improve on an initial solution in a communication-efficient manner. However, existing versions of these methods experience multiple shortcomings as the data size becomes massive, including diverging updates and efficiently handling sparsity. In this work we develop solutions to these problems which enable us to learn a communication-efficient distributed logistic regression model even beyond millions of features. In our experiments we demonstrate a large improvement in accuracy over distributed algorithms with only a few distributed update steps needed, and similar or faster runtimes. GeoNLF: Geometry guided Pose-Free Neural LiDAR Fields

However, point cloud registration methods struggle to achieve precise global pose estimation, whereas previous pose-free NeRFs overlook geometric consistency in global reconstruction. However, point cloud registration methods struggle to achieve precise global pose estimation, whereas previous pose-free NeRFs overlook geometric consistency in global reconstruction. In light of this, we explore the geometric insights of point clouds, which provide explicit registration priors for reconstruction. Based on this, we propose Geometry guided Neural LiDAR Fields(GeoNLF), a hybrid framework performing alternately global neural reconstruction and pure geometric pose optimization. Furthermore, NeRFs tend to overfit individual frames and easily get stuck in local minima under sparse-view inputs. To tackle this issue, we develop a selective-reweighting strategy and introduce geometric constraints for robust optimization. Extensive experiments on NuScenes and KITTI-360 datasets demonstrate the superiority of GeoNLF in both novel view synthesis and multi-view registration of low-frequency large-scale point clouds. △ Less

Both results are compatible within their uncorrelated systematic uncertainties. The combined result is $\mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to p \bar{p} η)=(1.495 \pm 0.001 \pm 0.023)\times\,10^{-3}$ where the first uncertainty is the combined statistical uncertainty and the second one the combined systematic uncertainty of both analyses, incorporating correlations between them. Robust First and Second-Order Differentiation for Regularized Optimal Transport

A common approach for this optimization is to use a first-order optimizer, which requires the gradient of the OT distance. For faster convergence, one might also resort to a second-order optimizer, which addition… ▽ More Applications such as unbalanced and fully shuffled regression can be approached by optimizing regularized optimal transport (OT) distances, such as the entropic OT and Sinkhorn distances. A common approach for this optimization is to use a first-order optimizer, which requires the gradient of the OT distance. For faster convergence, one might also resort to a second-order optimizer, which additionally requires the Hessian. The computations of these derivatives are crucial for efficient and accurate optimization. However, they present significant challenges in terms of memory consumption and numerical instability, especially for large datasets and small regularization strengths. We circumvent these issues by analytically computing the gradients for OT distances and the Hessian for the entropic OT distance, which was not previously used due to intricate tensor-wise calculations and the complex dependency on parameters within the bi-level loss function. Through analytical derivation and spectral analysis, we identify and resolve the numerical instability caused by the singularity and ill-posedness of a key linear system. Consequently, we achieve scalable and stable computation of the Hessian, enabling the implementation of the stochastic gradient descent (SGD)-Newton methods. Tests on shuffled regression examples demonstrate that the second stage of the SGD-Newton method converges orders of magnitude faster than the gradient descent-only method while achieving significantly more accurate parameter estimations. △ Less

MathOdyssey: Benchmarking Mathematical Problem-Solving Skills in Large Language Models Using Odyssey Math Data

Despite these successes, most LLMs still struggle with solving mathematical problems due to the intricate reasoning required. This paper investigates the mathematical problem-solving capabilities of LLMs using the newly developed "MathOdyssey" dataset. The dataset includes diverse mathematical problems at high school and university levels, created by experts from notable institutions to rigorously test LLMs in advanced problem-solving scenarios and cover a wider range of subject areas. By providing the MathOdyssey dataset as a resource to the AI community, we aim to contribute to the understanding and improvement of AI capabilities in complex mathematical problem-solving. We conduct benchmarking on open-source models, such as Llama-3 and DBRX-Instruct, and closed-source models from the GPT series and Gemini models. Our results indicate that while LLMs perform well on routine and moderately difficult tasks, they face significant challenges with Olympiad-level problems and complex university-level questions. Our analysis shows a narrowing performance gap between open-source and closed-source models, yet substantial challenges remain, particularly with the most demanding problems. No significant signal is observed and the upper limits at the 90\% confidence level on the product of the Born cross section $σ(e^+e^- \to φχ_{c1}(3872))$ and the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}[χ_{c1}(3872)\toπ^+π^- J/ψ]$ at 4.914 and 4.946 GeV are set to be 0.85 and 0.96 pb, respectively. The branching fraction of the decay $η_{c}(1S) \to 2(π^{+}π^{-})η$, which is found to have a strong dependence on the interference pattern between $η_c(1S)$ and non-$η_c(1S)$ processes, is measured in both destructive and constructive interference scenarios for the first time. The mass and width of the $η_{c}(1S)$ are measured to be $M=(2984.14 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.38)$ MeV/$c^{2}$ and $Γ=(28.82 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.82)$ MeV, respectively. Clear signals for the decays of the $χ_{cJ}(J=0,1,2)$ and the $η_{c}(2S)$ to $2(π^{+}π^{-})η$ are also observed for the first time, and the corresponding branching fractions are measured. Emotional Conversation: Empowering Talking Faces with Cohesive Expression, Gaze and Pose Generation

While existing methods accurately synchronize lip movements with input audio, they typically ignore crucial alignments between emotion and facial cues, which include expression, gaze, and head pose. These alignments are indispensable for synthesizing realistic vid… ▽ More Vivid talking face generation holds immense potential applications across diverse multimedia domains, such as film and game production. While existing methods accurately synchronize lip movements with input audio, they typically ignore crucial alignments between emotion and facial cues, which include expression, gaze, and head pose. These alignments are indispensable for synthesizing realistic videos. To address these issues, we propose a two-stage audio-driven talking face generation framework that employs 3D facial landmarks as intermediate variables. This framework achieves collaborative alignment of expression, gaze, and pose with emotions through self-supervised learning. Specifically, we decompose this task into two key steps, namely speech-to-landmarks synthesis and landmarks-to-face generation. The first step focuses on simultaneously synthesizing emotionally aligned facial cues, including normalized landmarks that represent expressions, gaze, and head pose. These cues are subsequently reassembled into relocated facial landmarks. In the second step, these relocated landmarks are mapped to latent key points using self-supervised learning and then input into a pretrained model to create high-quality face images. Extensive experiments on the MEAD dataset demonstrate that our model significantly advances the state-of-the-art performance in both visual quality and emotional alignment. △ Less

No significant signal of $h_c\toπ^+π^-η$ is found, and the upper limit of its decay branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(h_c\toπ^+π^-η) < 4.0 \times 10^{-4}$ at 90% confidence level. △ Less

Optimizing the Optimal Weighted Average: Efficient Distributed Sparse Classification

Recent work on non-interactive algorithms shows that approximate solutions for linear models can be obtained efficiently with only a single round of communication among machines. However, this approximation often degenerates as the number of machines increases. In this paper, building on the recent optimal weighted average method, we introduce a new technique, ACOWA, that allows an extra round of communication to achieve noticeably better approximation quality with minor runtime increases. Results show that for sparse distributed logistic regression, ACOWA obtains solutions that are more faithful to the empirical risk minimizer and attain substantially higher accuracy than other distributed algorithms. △ Less

The branching fractions are ${\mathcal B}(D_s^+\to ηe^+ν_e)=(2.35\pm0.11_{\rm stat}\pm 0.10_{\rm syst})\%,$ ${\mathcal B}(D_s^+\to η^\prime e^+ν_e)=(0.82\pm0.09_{\rm stat}\pm 0.04_{\rm syst})\%,$ ${\mathcal B}(D_s^+\to φe^+ν_e)=(2.21\pm0.16_{\rm stat}\pm 0.11_{\rm syst})\%,$ ${\mathcal B}(D_s^+\to f_0(980) e^+ν_e,f_0(980)\toπ^+π^-)=(0.15\pm0.02_{\rm stat}\pm 0.01_{\rm syst})\%,$ ${\mathcal B}(D_s^+\to K^0 e^+ν_e)=(0.24\pm0.04_{\rm stat}\pm 0.01_{\rm syst})\%,$ and ${\mathcal B}(D_s^+\to K^{*0} e^+ν_e)=(0.19\pm0.03_{\rm stat}\pm 0.01_{\rm syst})\%.$ These results are consistent with those measured via the $e^+e^-\to D_s^{*\pm}D_s^{\mp}$ process by BESIII and CLEO. The hadronic transition form factors $D^+_s\to ηe^+ν_e$, $D^+_s\to η^\prime e^+ν_e$, and $D^+_s\to K^0 e^+ν_e$ at four-momentum transfer squared $q^2$ = 0 are determined to be $f^η_+(0) = 0.482 \pm 0.011_{\rm stat} \pm 0.009_{\rm syst}\pm0.004_{\rm input},$ $f^{η^{\prime}}_+(0) = 0.562 \pm 0.031_{\rm stat} \pm 0.014_{\rm syst}\pm0.003_{\rm input},$ and $f^{K^0}_+(0) = 0.624 \pm 0.052_{\rm stat} \pm 0.013_{\rm syst}\pm0.002_{\rm input}.$ △ Less

Removable edges in near-bipartite bricks

Abstract: An edge $e$ of a matching covered graph $G$ is removable if $G-e$ is also matching covered. The notion of removable edge arises in connection with ear decompositions of matching covered graphs introduced by Lovász and Plummer. A nonbipartite matching covered graph $G$ is a brick if it is free of nontrivial tight cuts. Carvalho, Lucchesi, and Murty proved that every brick other than $K_4$ and… ▽ More An edge $e$ of a matching covered graph $G$ is removable if $G-e$ is also matching covered. However, most existing works assume an ideal condition that all agents' multi-view cameras are continuously available. In reality, cameras may be highly noisy, obscured or even failed during the collaboration. In this work, we introduce a new robust camera-insensitivity problem: how to overcome the issues caused by the failed camera perspectives, while stabilizing high collaborative performance with low calibration cost? To address above problems, we propose RCDN, a Robust Camera-insensitivity collaborative perception with a novel Dynamic feature-based 3D Neural modeling mechanism. The key intuition of RCDN is to construct collaborative neural rendering field representations to recover failed perceptual messages sent by multiple agents. To better model collaborative neural rendering field, RCDN first establishes a geometry BEV feature based time-invariant static field with other agents via fast hash grid modeling. Based on the static background field, the proposed time-varying dynamic field can model corresponding motion vectors for foregrounds with appropriate positions. To validate RCDN, we create OPV2V-N, a new large-scale dataset with manual labelling under different camera failed scenarios. Extensive experiments conducted on OPV2V-N show that RCDN can be ported to other baselines and improve their robustness in extreme camera-insensitivity settings. Study of the decays $χ_{cJ}\toΛ\barΛω$

Abstract: Using $(27.12\pm 0.14)\times10^{8}$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we present the first observation of the decays $χ_{cJ}\toΛ\barΛω$, where $J=0, 1, 2$, with statistical significances of $11.7 σ, 11.2 σ$, and $11.8 σ$. The evaluation of power electronics converters, particularly when operating at high power levels, presents a significant task, offering designers a deeper understanding of the functionality. Several methodologies have been devised to conduct hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) tests, which are classified into two main categories: controller hardware-in-the-loop (CHIL) and power hardware-in-the-loop (PHIL) tests. This paper explores the advantages and drawbacks of these two approaches and introduces a straightforward and cost-effective CHIL method for initial proof of concept and risk-free controller training. This method is based on the interaction between MATLAB/Simulink and Python. To assess the operation of the proposed system, a modeled battery pack (96S1P) is charged using a modeled battery charger converter, employing a non-linear PID controller. In this scenario, the controller benefits from the CC-CV technique for charging the battery pack. The results are presented in the final section. △ Less
