The substantial threat of concurrent air pollutants to public health is increasingly severe under climate change. To identify the common drivers and extent of spatio-temporal similarity of PM2.5 and ozone, this paper proposed a log Gaussian-Gumbel Bayesian hierarchical model allowing for sharing a SPDE-AR(1) spatio-temporal interaction structure. The proposed model outperforms in terms of estimation accuracy and prediction capacity for its increased parsimony and reduced uncertainty, especially for the shared ozone sub-model. Besides the consistently significant influence of temperature (positive), extreme drought (positive), fire burnt area (positive), and wind speed (negative) on both PM2.5 and ozone, surface pressure and GDP per capita (precipitation) demonstrate only positive associations with PM2.5 (ozone), while population density relates to neither. In addition, our results show the distinct spatio-temporal interactions and different seasonal patterns of PM2.5 and ozone, with peaks of PM2.5 and ozone in cold and hot seasons, respectively. Finally, with the aid of the excursion function, we see that the areas around the intersection of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties are likely to exceed the unhealthy ozone level for sensitive groups throughout the year. Our findings provide new insights for regional and seasonal strategies in the co-control of PM2.5 and ozone. Our methodology is expected to be utilized when interest lies in multiple interrelated processes in the fields of environment and epidemiology.

Quantum cloning is an essential operation in quantum information and quantum computing. Similar to the `copy' operation in classical computing, the cloning of flying bits for further processing from the solid-state quantum bits in storage is an operation frequently used in quantum information processing. Here we propose a high-fidelity and controllable quantum cloning scheme between solid bits and flying bits. In order to overcome the obstacles from the no-cloning theorem and the weak phonon-photon interaction, we introduce a hybrid optomechanical system that performs both the probabilistic cloning and deterministic cloning closed to the theoretical optimal limit with the help of designed driving pulse in the presence of dissipation. In addition, our scheme allows a highly tunable switching between two cloning methods, namely the probabilistic and deterministic cloning, by simply changing the input laser pulse. This provides a promising platform for experimental executability.

Time series anomaly detection strives to uncover potential abnormal behaviors and patterns from temporal data, and has fundamental significance in diverse application scenarios. Constructing an effective detection model usually requires adequate training data stored in a centralized manner, however, this requirement sometimes could not be satisfied in realistic scenarios. As a prevailing approach to address the above problem, federated learning has demonstrated its power to cooperate with the distributed data available while protecting the privacy of data providers. However, it is still unclear that how existing time series anomaly detection algorithms perform with decentralized data storage and privacy protection through federated learning. To study this, we conduct a federated time series anomaly detection benchmark, named FedTADBench, which involves five representative time series anomaly detection algorithms and four popular federated learning methods. We would like to answer the following questions: (1)How is the performance of time series anomaly detection algorithms when meeting federated learning? (2) Which federated learning method is the most appropriate one for time series anomaly detection? (3) How do federated time series anomaly detection approaches perform on different partitions of data in clients? Numbers of results as well as corresponding analysis are provided from extensive experiments with various settings. The source code of our benchmark is publicly available at https://github.com/fanxingliu2020/FedTADBench.

Through advanced experimental techniques on CrI$_{3}$ single crystals, we derive a previously not discussed pressure-temperature phase diagram. We find that $T_{c}$ increases to $\sim$ 66\,K with pressure up to $\sim$ 3\,GPa followed by a decrease to $\sim$ 10\,K at 21.2\,GPa. The experimental results are reproduced by theoretical calculations based on density functional theory where electron-electron interactions are treated by a static on-site Hubbard U on Cr 3$d$ orbitals. The origin of the pressure induced reduction of the ordering temperature is associated with a decrease of the calculated bond angle, from 95$^{\circ}$ at ambient pressure to $\sim$ 85$^{\circ}$ at 25\,GPa. Above 22\,GPa, the magnetically ordered state is essentially quenched, possibly driving the system to a Kitaev spin-liquid state at low temperature, thereby opening up the possibility of further exploration of long-range quantum entanglement between spins. The pressure-induced semiconductor-to-metal phase transition was revealed by high-pressure resistivity that is accompanied by a transition from a robust ferromagnetic state to gradually more dominating anti-ferromagnetic interactions and was consistent with theoretical modeling.

Quasi-particle excitations in solids described by the Weyl equation have attracted significant attention in recent years. Thus far, a wide range of solids that have been experimentally realized as Weyl semimetals (WSMs) lack either mirror or inversion symmetry. For the first time, in the absence of both mirror and inversion symmetry, SrSi2 has been predicted as a robust WSM by recent theoretical works. Herein, supported by first-principles calculations, we present systematic angle-resolved photoemission studies of undoped SrSi2 and Ca-doped SrSi2 single crystals. Our results show no evidence of the predicted Weyl fermions at the kz = 0 plane or the Fermi arcs on the (001) surface. With external pressure, the electronic band structure evolved and induced Weyl fermions in this compound, as revealed by first-principle calculations combined with electrical transport property measurements. Moreover, a superconducting transition was observed at pressures above 20 GPa. Our investigations indicate that the SrSi2 system is a good platform for studying topological transitions and correlations with superconductivity.

Cylindrical vector beams (CVBs), which possesses polarization distribution of rotational symmetry on the transverse plane, can be developed in many optical technologies. Conventional methods to generate CVBs contain redundant interferometers or need to switch among diverse elements, thus being inconvenient in applications containing multiple CVBs. Here we provide a passive polarization-selective device to substitute interferometers and simplify generation setup. It is accomplished by reversing topological charges of orbital angular momentum based on polarization-selective Gouy phase. In the process, tunable input light is the only condition to generate CVB with arbitrary topological charges. To cover both azimuthal and radial parameters of CVBs, we express the mapping between scalar Laguerre-Gaussian light on basic Poincaré sphere and CVB on high-order Poincaré sphere. The proposed device simplifies the generation of CVBs enormously, and thus has potentials in integrated devices for both quantum and classic optical experiments.

Here we report a pressure-induced reemergence of superconductivity in recently discovered superconductor K2Mo3As3, which is the first experimental case observed in quasi-one-dimensional superconductors. We find that, after full suppression of the ambient-pressure superconducting (SC-I) state at 8.7 GPa, an intermediary non-superconducting state sets in and prevails to the pressure up to 18.2 GPa, however, above this pressure a new superconducting (SC-II) state appears unexpectedly. High pressure x-ray diffraction measurements demonstrate that the pressure-induced dramatic change of the lattice parameter c contributes mainly to the emergence of the SC-II state. Combined with the theioretical calculations on band strcture, our results suggest that the reemergemce of superconductivity is associated with the change of the complicated interplay among different orbital electrons, driven by the pressure-induced unisotropic change of the lattice.

A Weyl semimetal with strong electron-phonon interaction can show axionic coupling in its insulator state at low temperatures, owing to the formation of a charge density wave (CDW). Such a CDW emerges in the linear chain compound Weyl semimetal Ta$_2$Se$_8$I below 263 K, resulting in the appearance of the dynamical condensed-matter axion quasiparticle. In this study, we demonstrate that the interchain coupling in Ta$_2$Se$_8$I can be varied to suppress the CDW formation with pressure, while retaining the Weyl semimetal phase at high temperatures. Above 17 GPa, the Weyl semimetal phase does not survive and we induce superconductivity, due to the amorphization of the iodine sub-lattice. Structurally, the one-dimensional Ta-Se-chains remain intact and provide a superconducting channel in one dimension. We highlight that our results show a near-complete suppression of the gap induced by the axionic charge-density wave at pressures inaccessible to previous studies. Including this CDW phase, our experiments and theoretical predictions and analysis reveal the complete topological phase diagram of Ta$_2$Se$_8$I and its relationship to the nearby superconducting state. The results demonstrate Ta$_2$Se$_8$I to be a distinctively versatile platform for exploring correlated topological states.

High-efficiency absorption of low-frequency sounds (< 1000 Hz) while maintaining a free flow of fluids remains a significant challenge in acoustical engineering due to the rigid trade-off between absorption and ventilation performances. Although ongoing advances in acoustic metamaterials have unlocked unprecedented possibilities and various metamaterial absorbers have been proposed, most of them only work adequately in the condition of no sound transmissions. Unfortunately, such condition requires a complete block of fluid channels due to longitudinal nature of sounds, which allows them to penetrate any small holes. Otherwise, their absorption performance could be drastically degraded and often cannot exceed 50%. This basic trade-off between absorption and ventilation performances definitely constrains their applications in daily scenarios where free air flows are necessary. Though some ventilated sound barriers with large transmission loss have been demonstrated, they essentially only reflect sounds, which are still there and even may be reflected back. Here, to overcome this general difficulty, we propose and demonstrate an ultra-open ventilated metamaterial absorber. The absorber, aiming at low-frequency sounds, simultaneously ensures high-performance absorption and ventilation, confirmed in experiments. Their mechanism is understood from an effective model of coupled lossy oscillators. Furthermore, the absorbers can be simply stacked to work in a customized broadband, while maintaining a good ventilation. The demonstrated absorber provides a clear scheme for achieving high-performance absorption and ventilation at low frequencies, necessary for applications in environment with free air flows.

The charged particles were detected using the silicon-detector array of the Light-charged Particle Detector Array (LPDA) system. The neutron energy E$_{n}$ was determined by TOF (time-of-flight) method, and the valid $α$ events were extracted from the E$_{n}$-Amplitude two-dimensional spectrum. With 15 silicon detectors, the differential cross sections of $α$-particles were measured from 19.2° to 160.8°. Fitted with the Legendre polynomial series, the ($n, α$) cross sections were obtained through integration. The absolute cross sections were normalized using the standard cross sections of the $^{10}$B($n, α$)$^{7}$Li reaction in the 0.3 - 0.5 MeV neutron energy region. The measurement neutron energy range for the $^{10}$B($n, α$)$^{7}$Li reaction is 1.0 eV $\le$ En < 2.5 MeV (67 energy points), and for the $^{10}$B($n, α$$_{0}$)$^{7}$Li and $^{10}$B($n, α$$_{1}$)$^{7}$Li$^{*}$ reactions is 1.0 eV $\le$ En < 1.0 MeV (59 energy points). Although superconductivity in the vicinity of antiferromagnetic (AFM) instability has been extensively explored in the last three decades or so, superconductivity in compounds with a background of ferromagnetic (FM) spin fluctuations is still rare. We report 75As nuclear quadrupole resonance measurements on the A2Cr3As3 family, which is the first group of Cr-based superconductors at ambient pressure, with A being alkali elements. From the temperature dependence of the spin-lattice relaxation rate (1/T1), we find that by changing A in the order of A=Na, Na0.75K0.25, K, and Rb, the system is tuned to approach a FM quantum critical point (QCP). This may be ascribed to the Cr2-As2-Cr2 bond angle that decreases towards 90 degrees, which enhances the FM interaction via the Cr2-As2-Cr2 path. Upon moving away from the QCP, the superconducting transition temperature Tsc increases progressively up to 8.0 K in Na2Cr3As3, which is in sharp contrast to the AFM case where Tsc usually shows a maximum around a QCP. The 1/T1 decreases rapidly below Tsc with no Hebel-Slichter peak, and ubiquitously follows a T5 variation below a characteristic temperature T*=0.6 Tsc, which indicates the existence of point nodes in the superconducting gap function commonly in the family. These results suggest that the A2Cr3As3 family is a possible solid-state analog of superfluid 3He.

By measuring point-contact Andreev reflection (PCAR) spectra in the newly discovered chromium-based quasi-one-dimensional superconductor RbCr$_{3}$As$_{3}$, we find clear evidence of two superconducting components, i.e., one having a gap value of about 1.8 meV and another with a gap value of about 5 meV. Since the current injection may have components in both the direction parallel and perpendicular to the [(Cr$_{3}$As$_{3}$)$^{-}$]$_\infty$ chains in the PCAR measurements, it naturally explains the two-component feature observed in this multi-band superconductor. Detailed analysis shows that the larger gap may have an $s$-wave nature. We then carry out the single-particle tunneling measurements based on a scanning tunneling spectroscope by using the needle-like sample as the tip, and in this case the measured current is mainly parallel to the [(Cr$_{3}$As$_{3}$)$^{-}$]$_\infty$ chains. The single-particle tunneling spectra show only one gap feature with a gap value of about 1.8 meV. Fitting to the single particle tunneling spectra indicates that the gap should have a large anisotropy or even node(s). We argue that the absence of the larger gap may be related to the direction of the injecting current. Therefore, our combined experiments show the multiband superconductivity with one gap being nodal or highly anisotropic.

A novel color image enhancement method is proposed based on Retinex to enhance color images under non-uniform illumination or poor visibility conditions. Different from the conventional Retinex algorithms, the Weighted Guided Image Filter is used as a surround function instead of the Gaussian filter to estimate the background illumination, which can overcome the drawbacks of local blur and halo artifact that may appear by Gaussian filter. To avoid color distortion, the image is converted to the HSI color model, and only the intensity channel is enhanced. Then a linear color restoration algorithm is adopted to convert the enhanced intensity image back to the RGB color model, which ensures the hue is constant and undistorted. Experimental results show that the proposed method is effective to enhance both color and gray images with low exposure and non-uniform illumination, resulting in better visual quality than traditional method. At the same time, the objective evaluation indicators are also superior to the conventional methods. In addition, the efficiency of the proposed method is also improved thanks to the linear color restoration algorithm.

Electrical resistivity and magnetic susceptibility characterizations exhibit the occurrence of superconductivity in both compounds with the onset Tc at 10.6 K and 11.5 K for Rb2Mo3As3 and Cs2Mo3As3 respectively, which exhibit weak negative chemical pressure effect in these A2Mo3As3 (A = K, Rb, Cs) superconductors contrary to the isostructural A2Cr3As3 superconductors. More interestingly, the Cs2Mo3As3 superconductor exhibits much higher upper critical field around 60 T at zero temperature. The discovery of these MoAs/CrAs-based superconductors provide a unique platform for the study of exotic superconductivity correlated with both 3d and 4d electrons in these Q1D compounds.

We report the synthesis, crystal structure, superconductivity and physical property characterizations of the ternary equiatomic compound ScRuSi. Polycrystalline samples of ScRuSi were prepared by an arc-melting method. The as-prepared samples were identified as the orthorhombic Co2P-type o-ScRuSi by the powder X-ray diffraction analysis. Electrical resistivity measurement shows o-ScRuSi to be a metal which superconducts below a Tc of 3.1 K, and the upper critical field μ0Hc2(0) is estimated to be 0.87 T. The magnetization and specific heat measurements confirm the bulk type-II superconductivity in o-ScRuSi, with the specific heat jump within the BCS weak coupling limit. o-ScRuSi is the first Co2P-type superconductor containing scandium. After annealing at 1273 K for a week, o-ScRuSi transforms into the hexagonal Fe2P-type h-ScRuSi, and the latter is a Pauli-paramagnetic metal with no superconductivity observed above 1.8 K.

Here we revisit the electron-doped SmFeAsO polycrystals to make a further investigation for the highest T-c in these materials. To introduce more electron carriers and less crystal lattice distortions, we study the Th and F codoping effects into the Sm-O layers with heavy electron doping. Dozens of Sm1-x Th-x FeAsO1-y F-y samples are synthesized through the solid state reaction method, and these samples are carefully characterized by the structural, resistive, and magnetic measurements. We find that the codoping of Th and F clearly enhances the superconducting T-c more than the Th or F single-doped samples, with the highest record T-c up to 58.6K when x= 0.2 and y= 0.225. Further element doping causes more impurities and lattice distortions in the samples with a weakened superconductivity.

A scheme is presented to optimize the optomechanical cooling of mechanical resonator in instability regime. Based on the stability analysis, we uncovered a distinct bistable effect of photons and phonons, which can be used to realize a strong nonlinear effect even in the single-photon weak coupling regime. Considering the experimental realization, we investigate the sideband cooling in bistable regime with and without quantum nonlinearity. It is shown that the fluctuation of the steady state phonons can be excellently suppressed at a rather low level due to the anti-rotating-wave effect, and it does not require high quality factor of the cavity. Our scheme offers a new perspective for optimizing the sideband cooling of mechanical resonators in the weak coupling regime.

The crystal structure of A2Cr3As3 is actually a slight variation of the hexagonal TlFe3Te3 prototype although they have different lattice symmetry. Here we report superconductivity in a 133-type KCr3As3 compound that belongs to the latter structure. The single crystals of KCr3As3 were prepared by the deintercalation of K ions from K2Cr3As3 crystals which were grown from a high-temperature solution growth method, and it owns a centrosymmetric lattice in contrast to the non-centrosymmetric K2Cr3As3. The polycrystalline samples were synthesized through solid state reaction method only within a very narrow temperature window around 1073 K. Small single crystals were also grown from a flux method with the size about 100 um. The crystal structure was identified by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis as a monoclinic structure with space group of P21/m. From resistivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements, we found that the parent compound EuFeAs2 shows a Fe2+ related antiferromagnetic/structural phase transition near 110 K and a Eu2+ related antiferromagnetic phase transition near 40 K. La doping suppressed the both phase transitions and induced superconducting transition with a Tc ~ 11 K for Eu0.85La0.15FeAs2.

We study optomechanical entanglement between an optical cavity field and a movable mirror coupled to a non-Markovian environment. The non-Markovian quantum state diffusion (NMQSD) approach and the non-Markovian master equation are shown to be useful in investigating the entanglement generation between the cavity field and the movable mirror. The simple model presented in this paper demonstrates several interesting properties of optomechanical entanglement that are associated with environment memory effects. It is evident that the effective environment central frequency can be used to modulate the optomechanical entanglement. In addition, we show that the maximum entanglement may be achieved by properly choosing the effective detuning which is significantly dependent on the strength of the memory effect of the environment.

The quenched crystal undergoes a collapsed tetragonal structural phase transition around 80 K revealed by the temperature dependent X-ray diffraction measurements. The isothermal magnetization curve measured at 2 K indicates that this is a typical type-II superconductor. For comparison, we systematically characterized the properties of the furnace cooled, quenched, and post-annealed single crystals, and found strong internal crystallographic strain existing in the quenched samples, which is the key for the occurrence of superconductivity in the undoped CaFe2As2 single crystals.

Under the optimal carrier doping concentration of F ~ 0.5, the superconducting critical temperature of LaO0.5F0.5BiSSe is clearly enhanced up to a value of 3.8 K than the 3.2 K of LaO0.5F0.5BiS2.

The (Ca,R)FeAs2 (R=La,Pr and etc.) superconductors with a signature of superconductivity transition above 40 K possess a new kind of block layers that consist of zig-zag As chains. In this paper, we report the electronic structure of the new (Ca,La)FeAs2 superconductor investigated by both band structure calculations and high resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy measurements. Band structure calculations indicate that there are four hole-like bands around the zone center $Γ$(0,0) and two electron-like bands near the zone corner M(pi,pi) in CaFeAs2. In our angle-resolved photoemission measurements on (Ca0.9La0.1})FeAs2, we have observed three hole-like bands around the Gamma point and one electron-like Fermi surface near the M(pi,pi) point. These results provide important information to compare and contrast with the electronic structure of other iron-based compounds in understanding the superconductivity mechanism in the iron-based superconductors.

A single four-level atom interacting with two-mode cavities is investigated. Under large detuning condition, we obtain the effective Hamiltonian which is unitary squeezing operator of two-mode fields. Employing the input-output theory, we find that the entanglement and squeezing of the output fields can be achieved. By analyzing the squeezing spectrum, we show that asymmetric detuning and asymmetric atomic initial state split the squeezing spectrum from one valley into two minimum values, and appropriate leakage of the cavity is needed for obtaining output entangled fields.

Abstract:
In this paper, we present a scheme to generate an entangled coherent state by considering a three-level Λ- type atom interacting with a two-mode cavity driven by classical fields. The two-mode entangled coherent state can be obtained under large detuning conditions. Considering the cavity decay, an analytical solution is deduced.
