Taking into account the zero-point length correction to the gravitational potential and using the entropic force scenario, we derive a modified expression for entropy that includes zero-point length correction terms. We then apply the thermodynamics-gravity conjecture and the emergent gravity scenario to derive the modified Friedmann equations. These equations describe the evolution of the universe with zero-point length corrections included in the entropy expression. Further, we examine the time evolution of the total entropy, including the entropy of the apparent horizon and the matter field entropy inside the horizon and find that the generalized second law of thermodynamics is satisfied. Besides, we investigate cosmological implications of the modified cosmology through zero-point length. We study several cases, including radiation dominated era, matter dominated era and universe filled with matter and cosmological constant. We observe that the zero-point length correction does not change the general profile of the universe evolution, however, it shifts the time of the phase transition in a universe filled with matter and cosmological constant. We explore the age of the universe for our model and observe that the predicted age of the universe becomes larger compared to the standard cosmology. By calculating the explicit form of Ricci and Kretchmann invariants, we confirm that in our model, the initial singularity of the universe is removed. This is an expected result, because the main motivation for considering zero-point length correction in the gravitational potential is to remove singularity at the origin.

Applying the modified Barrow entropy, inspired by the quantum fluctuation effects, to the cosmological background, and using thermodynamics-gravity conjuncture, the Friedmann equations get modified as well. In this paper, we explore the holographic dark energy with Granda-Oliveros (GO) IR cutoff, in the context of the modified Barrow cosmology. First, we assume two dark components of the universe evolves independently and obtain the cosmological parameters and explore the cosmic evolution. Second, we consider an interaction term between dark energy (DE) and dark matter (DM). We observe that the Barrow parameter $δ$ crucially affects the cosmic dynamics, causes the transition from the decelerating phase to the accelerating phase occurs later. We find out that the equation of state parameter is in the quintessence region in the past and crosses the phantom divide at the present time. Finally, we examine the squared speed of sound analysis for this model. According to the squared sound speed diagrams, the results indicate that the presence of interaction between DM and DE as well as increasing in the value of $δ$ leads to the manifestation of signs of instability in the past $(v_s^2<0)$. Furthermore, by examining the statefinder, we find that presence of $δ$ also makes a distinction between holographic dark energy in Barrow cosmology with GO-IR cutoff and the $Λ$CDM model. In fact, increasing $δ$ causes the statefinder diagram move away from the point of $\left\lbrace r,s\right\rbrace= \left\lbrace 1,0\right\rbrace$ at $z=0$.

According to the thermodynamics-gravity conjecture, any modification to the entropy expression leads to the modified cosmological field equations. Based on this, we investigate the cosmological consequences of the modified Friedmann equations when the entropy associated with the horizon is in the form of Tsallis/Barrow entropy and the dark energy (DE) component is in the form of ghost dark energy (GDE). We perform a dynamical system analysis and see that the Tsallis GDE(TGDE) and Barrow GDE(BGDE) can exhibit a correct phase space evolution for suitable range of the free parameters($0<Δ<1$ for BGDE and $β<3/2$ for TGDE). We find that in BGDE and TGDE (with $Q=3b^2 H(ρ_D+ρ_m)$), there exist an early radiation dominated phase of expansion which is absent for GDE model in standard cosmology. It is worth mentioning that seeking an unstable phase of matter dominated in TGDE leads to a new constraint on $β$($<3/2$). Using the resulting range of free parameters from latter step we find that both models are capable to explain the cosmic evolution from deceleration to an accelerated phase. We observe that increasing $Δ$ ($β$) parameters leads to a delay in the cosmic phase transition. We conclude that BGDE and TGDE are viable cosmological models which predict a consistent phase transition of the cosmic expansion for suitable ranges of the parameters. We also calculate the squared sound speed for both models and find out that they are unstable against perturbations...

We derive modified field equations to the linear order of perturbations in the context of $f(R,T)$ model. We then investigate the growth of perturbations in the context of $f(R,T)$ modified gravity. Primary numerical investigations based on matter power spectra diagrams indicates a structure growth suppression in $f(R,T)$ gravity, which exhibits consistency with local measurements. Also, we notice that matter-geometry interaction in $f(R,T)$ model would results in the specific feature named as "matter acoustic oscillations" appeared in matter power spectra diagrams. Moreover, we put constraints on the cosmological parameters of $f(R,T)$ model, utilizing current observations, chiefly cosmic microwave background, weak lensing, supernovae, baryon acoustic oscillations, and redshift-space distortions data. Numerical results based on MCMC calculations imply that $f(R,T)$ is a qualified theory of modified gravity in reconciling Planck CMB data with local probes of large scale structures, by reporting lower values for the structure growth parameter $σ_8$ compared to the standard model of cosmology.

Inspired by String T-duality and taking into account the zero-point length correction, $l_0$, to the gravitational potential, we construct modified Friedmann equations by applying the first law of thermodynamics on the apparent horizon of the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) Universe. The cosmological viability of this extended scenario is investigated by studying influences on the evolution of the early Universe and performing the cosmographic analysis. Furthermore, we explore the inflationary paradigm under the slow-roll condition. By testing the model against observational data, the zero-point length is constrained around the Planck scale, in compliance with the original assumption from String T-duality. We also study the growth of density perturbations in the linear regime. It is shown that the zero-point length stands out as an alternative characterization for the broken-power-law spectrum, which provides a better fitting for the experimental measurements comparing to the simple power-law potential. Finally, we focus on implications for the primordial gravitational waves (PGWs) spectrum. Should the zero-point length be running over energy scales, as is the case for all parameters and coupling constants in quantum gravity under renormalization group considerations, deviations from General Relativity (GR) might be potentially tested through upcoming PGW observatories.

The purpose of this article is twofold. First, by means of Padmanabhan's proposal on the emergence nature of gravity, we recover the $Λ$CDM model and the effect of the dark matter in the context of cosmology. Toward this goal, we use the key idea of Padmanabhan that states cosmic space emerges as the cosmic time progress and link the emergence of space to the difference between the number of degrees of freedom on the boundary and in the bulk. Interestingly enough, we show that the effect of the cold dark matter in the cosmological setup can be understood by assuming an interaction between the numbers of degrees of freedom in the bulk. In the second part, we follow the Jacobson's argument and obtain the modified Einstein field equations with additional dark matter component emerging due to the interaction term between dark energy and baryonic matter related by $Ω_{DM,0}=\sqrt{2 αΩ_{M,0} Ω_{DE,0}}$, where $α$ is a coupling constant. Finally, a correspondence with Yukawa cosmology is pointed out, and the role of massive gravitons as a possibility in explaining the nature of the dark sector as well as the theoretical origin of the Modified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND) are addressed. We speculate that the interaction coupling $α$ fundamentally measures the entanglement between the gravitons and matter fields and there exists a fundamental limitation in measuring the gravitons wavelength.

We also compare our results with those obtained by attributing the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy bound to the mentioned black holes. Our analysis indicates that, similarly to the standard Boltzmann picture, isolated KNBH in the microcanonical approach are stable against axisymmetric perturbations in both Tsallis and Rényi models. On the other hand, in considering the case when the black holes are enveloped by a bath of thermal radiation in the canonical treatment, the KNBH based on the Tsallis and Rényi entropies can be stable for some values of the entropy parameters, in contrast to the traditional Boltzmann framework. For the case of Rényi entropy, we find that a Hawking-Page transition and a first order small black hole/large black hole transition can occur in a similar fashion as in rotating black holes in an anti-de Sitter space. Finally, we employ the Ruppeneir geometrothermodynamic technique to provide a new perspective on studying the nature of interactions between black hole microstructures, revealing a non-trivial impact of nonextensive entropies.

We find that in modified Kaniadakis cosmology with only pressure-less matter, one can reproduce the accelerated Universe without invoking any kind of dark energy. We delved into the evolution of the Universe during the radiation-dominated era as well. We also investigate the behavior of the scale factor and the deceleration parameter for a multiple-component Universe consisting of pressure-less matter and a cosmological constant/dark energy. Interestingly enough, the predicted age of the Universe in the modified Kaniadakis cosmology becomes larger compared to the standard cosmology which may alleviate the age problem. Furthermore, The findings reveal that in the modified Kaniadakis cosmology, the transition from a decelerated phase to an accelerated Universe occurs at higher redshifts compared to the standard cosmology. These results shed light on the potential implications of incorporating Kaniadakis entropy into cosmological models and provide valuable insights into the behavior of the Universe in different cosmological scenarios. Moreover, they emphasize the crucial role of modifications to the geometry component and the significance of such modifications in understanding the dynamics of the Universe.

Kaniadakis entropy is a one-parameter deformation of the classical Boltzmann-Gibbs-Shannon entropy, arising from a self-consistent relativistic statistical theory. Assuming a Kaniadakis-type generalization of the entropy associated with the apparent horizon of Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) Universe and using the gravity-thermodynamics conjecture, a new cosmological scenario is obtained based on the modified Friedmann equations. By employing such modified equations, we analyze the slow-roll inflation, driven by a scalar field with power-law potential, at the early stages of the Universe. We explore the phenomenological consistency of this model by computation of the scalar spectral index and tensor-to-scalar ratio. Comparison with the latest Planck data allows us to constrain Kaniadakis parameter to $κ\lesssim\mathcal{O}(10^{-12}\div10^{-11})$, which is discussed in relation to other observational bounds in the past literature. We also disclose the effects of Kaniadakis correction term on the growth of perturbations at the early stages of the Universe by employing the spherically symmetric collapse formalism in the linear regime of density perturbations. We find out that the profile of density contrast is non-trivially affected in this scenario. Interestingly enough, we observe that increasing Kaniadakis parameter $κ$ corresponds to a faster growth of perturbations in a Universe governed by the corrected Friedmann equations. Finally, we comment on the consistency of the primordial power spectrum for scalar perturbations with the best data-fit provided by Planck.

Magnetic reconnection is a process that plays a critical role in plasma astrophysics by converting magnetic energy into plasma particle energy. Recently, Comisso and Asenjo demonstrated that rapid magnetic reconnection within a black hole's ergosphere can efficiently extract energy from a rotating black hole. In this paper, by considering a Kerr black hole in the MOdified gravity (MOG) framework, we investigate the impact of the MOG parameter $α$ on the rotational energy extraction via the Comisso-Asenjo process (CAP). To model energy extraction from supermassive black holes located in the center of galaxies, we set the value of $α$ within the range inferred from the recent observation of Sgr A* by the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT). Our results indicate that the Kerr-MOG black hole is a more efficient host for CAP-based rotational energy extraction compared to the Kerr black hole, since it amplifies the power of energy extraction and efficiency of the plasma energization process. We show that, from the energy extraction viewpoint, the CAP is more efficient than the Blandford-Znajek process (BZP). The latter is another magnetic field-based energy extraction model which is widely believed to be an engine for powering the high-energy astrophysics jets emerging from the supermassive black holes at active galactic nuclei. In particular, we show that the ratio of the energy extraction power of CAP to BZP in the presence of the MOG parameter is greater than that of the Kerr black hole. Our results promise this phenomenological message that the MOG-induced correction on the Kerr black hole background plays an important role in favor of energy extraction via the CAP.

We analyze geometrothermodynamics of charged anti-de Sitter (AdS) black holes with a global monopole in the framework of Tsallis statistics. The latter arises from a non-additive generalization of Boltzmann-Gibbs entropy, which is still recovered as a particular sub-case. We examine the effects of Tsallis entropy on small-large black holes phase-transitions and critical exponents, comparing the results with the liquid-gas change of phase occurring in van der Waals fluids. We also discuss some physical constraints on Tsallis parameter and the impact on sparsity of BH radiation. Thermodynamic curvature behavior is then explored from a geometric perspective within Ruppeiner formalism on the $S-P$ coordinate space. Similar considerations are extended to charged $(2+1)$-dimensional Banados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (BTZ) black holes by computing the entropy-pressure and entropy volume corrected curvatures. Our analysis shows that Tsallis prescription has non-trivial implications on black hole geometrothermodynamics, emphasizing the role of non-additive entropy on the correspondence between black holes and van der Waals systems.

We use parameterized post-Friedmann (PPF) description for dark energy and apply ellipsoidal nested sampling to perform the Bayesian model selection method on different time-dependent dark energy models using a combination of $Planck$ and data based on distance measurements, namely baryon acoustic oscillations and supernovae luminosity distance. Models with two and three free parameters described in terms of linear scale factor $a$, or scaled in units of e-folding $\ln a$ are considered. Our results show that parameterizing dark energy in terms of $\ln a$ provides better constraints on the free parameters than polynomial expressions. In general, two free-parameter models are adequate to describe the dynamics of the dark energy compared to their three free-parameter generalizations. According to the Bayesian evidence, determining the strength of support for cosmological constant $Λ$ over polynomial dark energy models remains inconclusive. Furthermore, considering the $R$ statistic as the tension metric shows that one of the polynomial models gives rise to a tension between $Planck$ and distance measurements data sets. The preference for the logarithmic equation of state over $Λ$ is inconclusive, and the strength of support for $\rm Λ$CDM over the oscillating model is moderate.

Employing the spherical collapse (SC) formalism, we investigate the linear evolution of the matter over-density for energy-momentum-squared gravity (EMSG), which in practical phenomenological terms, one may imagine as an extension of the ΛCDM model of cosmology. The underlying model, while still having a cosmological constant, is a non-linear material extension of the general theory of relativity (GTR) and includes correction terms that are dominant in the high-energy regime, the early universe. Considering the Friedman{Robertson{Walker (FRW) background in the presence of a cosmological constant, we find the effects of the modifications arising from EMSG on the growth of perturbations at the early stages of the universe. Considering both possible negative and positive values of the model parameter of EMSG, we discuss its role in the evolution of the matter density contrast and growth function in the level of linear perturbations. While EMSG leaves imprints distinguishable from ΛCDM, we find that the negative range of the ESMG model parameter is not well-behaved, indicating an anomaly in the parameter space of the model. In this regard, for the evaluation of the galaxy cluster number count in the framework of EMSG, we equivalently provide an analysis of the number count of the gravitationally collapsed objects (or the dark matter halos). We show that the galaxy cluster number count decreases compared to the ΛCDM model. In agreement with the hierarchical model of structure formation, in EMSG cosmology the more massive structures are less abundant, meaning that form at later times.

We disclose a close correspondence between Verlinde's Emergent Gravity (VEG) theory and the non-local gravity theories. Such non-local effects can play crucial role at small distances as well as in large scale structures. In particular, we argue that the emergent gravity effectively is a manifestation of the entanglement entropy and can modify Newton's law of gravity as well as address the flat rotation curves of spiral galaxies. In the cosmological setup, we have considered three different models for the apparent dark matter density. In the first model, we have found that Friedmann equations get modified due to the presence of the apparent dark matter (DM) in such a way that Newton's constant of gravity shifts as $G\rightarrow G\left(1+ζ\right)$, where $ζ$ is a dimensionless small parameter. Using the flat rotating curves we estimate $ζ\sim 10^{-7}$. For such a model, we find out that by rescaling the radial coordinate, $r$, the curvature space constant, $k$, and the scale factor of the universe, $a$, the effect of apparent DM can change the geometry of the universe and can shift the curvature space constant as $k_{\star}=k (1-ζ)$. To this end, we study a more realistic model with evolving densities where we obtain the $Λ$CDM model in Verlinde's gravity and comment on the Hubble tension problem with evolving densities.

We explore the influences of the higher order Gauss Bonnet (GB) correction terms on the growth of perturbations at the early stage of a (n + 1)-dimensional Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe. Considering a cosmological constant in the FRW background, we study the linear perturbations by adopting the spherically symmetric collapse (SC) formalism. In light of the modifications that appear in the field equations, we disclose the role of the GB coupling constant α, as well as the extra dimensions n > 3 on the growth of perturbations. It, in essence, is done by defining a dimensionless parameter \{beta}=(n-2)(n-3) \{alpha} H_0^2 in which H_0 is the Hubble constant. We find that the matter density contrast starts growing at the early stages of the universe and, as the universe expands, it grows faster compared to the standard cosmology. Besides, in the framework of GB gravity, the growth of matter perturbations in higher dimensions is faster than its standard counterpart (n = 3). Further, in the presence of α, the growth of perturbations increases as it increases. This is an expected result, since the higher order GB correction terms increase the strength of the gravity and thus support the growth of perturbations. For the existing cosmological model, we also investigate the behavior of quantities such as density abundance, deceleration, and the jerk parameter. Finally, we study the imprint of the GB parameter and the higher dimensions in the evolution of the mass function of the dark matter halos.

Adopting the manifest of low-frequency and low mass for the scalar perturbation, we perform a semi-classical analysis of the superradiance phenomenon for a rotating hairy Horndeski black hole (BH). For the spacetime under study enriched by the hairy Horndeski parameter $h$, in addition to the mass $M$ and spin $a$, we compute the amplification factor of scalar wave scattering indicating the energy extraction from the BH. We find that due to the addition of the hairy parameter $h$ in the geometry, the superradiance scattering and its frequency range enhance compared to the Kerr BH. This implies that Horndeski's gravity belongs to those alternative theories of gravity that make the amplification factor larger than the Kerr BH so that the energy extraction in its framework is more efficient than general relativity. Calculating the outgoing energy flux measured by an observer at infinity verifies the role of the hairy parameter $h$ in the increase of energy extraction efficiency from the rotating BH. By implementing the BH bomb mechanism, we present an analysis of the superradiant instability of the underlying BH spacetime against massive scalar fields. Our analysis indicates that the hairy Horndeski parameter leaves no imprint on the standard superradiant instability regime.

We explore a holographic superconductor model in which a real scalar field is non-minimally coupled to a gauge field. We consider several types of the non-minimal coupling function h($ψ$) including exponential, hyperbolic (cosh), power-law and fractional forms. We investigate the influences of the non-minimal coupling parameter $α$ on condensation, critical temperature and conductivity. We can categorize our results in two groups. In the first group, conductor/superconductor phase transition is easier to occur for larger values of $α$, while in the second group stronger effects of the non-minimal coupling makes the formation of scalar hair harder. Although the real and imaginary parts of conductivity are impressed by different forms of h($ψ$), they follow some universal behaviors such as connecting with each other through Kramers-Kronig relation in low frequency regime or the appearance of gap frequency at low temperatures. We find the best form of forms of non-minimal coupling function that gives us better information in wide range of non-minimal coupling constant and temperature. Choosing the best form of h($ψ$), we construct a family of solutions for holographic conductor/superconductor phase transitions to discover the effect of the hyperscaling violation when the gauge and scalar fields are non-minimally coupled. we find that the critical temperature increases for higher effects of hyperscaling violation $θ$ and non-minimal coupling constant $α$. By increasing these two parameters, we obtain lower values of condensation which means that conductor/superconductor phase transition will acquire easier. Furthermore, we understand that the hyperscaling violation affects the conductivity $σ$ of the holographic superconductors and changes the expected relation in the gap frequency. Some universal behaviors like infinite DC conductivity are observed.

In this model a single Lorentz-violating timelike vector field with a nonzero vacuum expectation value (VEV) couples to the Ricci tensor and scalar, as well. Taking the ansatz $B(t)\sim t^β$ for the time evolution of the vector field we derive the relevant dynamic equations of the Universe, where $β$ is a free parameter. In particular, by employing observational data coming from the Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) and the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the Baryogenesis era, we impose some constraints on the VEV of the bumblebee timelike vector field i.e., $ξb^2$, and the exponent parameter $β$. The former and the latter limit the size of Lorentz violation, and the rate of the time evolution of the background Lorentz-violating bumblebee field, respectively.

Thermodynamics-Gravity conjecture implies that there is a deep connection between the gravitational field equations and the first law of thermodynamics. Therefore, any modification to the entropy expression, directly modifies the field equations. By considering the modified Barrow entropy associated with the apparent horizon, the Friedmann equations get modified as well. In this paper, we reconsider the holographic dark energy (HDE) model when the entropy is in the form of Barrow entropy. This modification to the entropy not only changes the energy density of HDE, but also modifies the Friedmann equations. Therefore, one should take into account the modified HDE in the context of modified Friedmann equations. We study the Hubble horizon and the future event horizon as IR cutoffs, and investigate the cosmological consequences of this model. We also extend our study to the case where dark matter (DM) and dark energy (DE) interact with each other. We observe that Barrow exponent $δ$ significantly affects the cosmological behavior of HDE, and in particular the equation of state (EoS) parameter can cross the phantom line $(w_{de}<-1)$. Also adding $δ$ remarkably affects the deceleration parameter, and shifts the time of universe phase transition.

We investigate the cosmological consequences of the modified Friedmann equations when the entropy associated with the apparent horizon, given by Barrow entropy, $S\sim A^{1+δ/2}$, where $0\leqδ\leq1$, represents the amount of the quantum-gravitational deformation of the horizon. We study implications of this model in a flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe with/without cosmological constant. Taking the cosmological constant into account, this model can describe the current accelerated expansion, although the transition from deceleration phase to the acceleration phase takes place in the lower redshifts. We investigate the evolution of the scale factor and show that with increasing $δ$, the value of the scale factor increases as well. We also estimate the age of the universe in Barrow cosmology which is smaller than the age of the universe in standard cosmology.

We employ Verlinde's entropic force scenario to extract the modified Friedmann equations by taking into account the zero-point length correction to the gravitational potential. Starting form the modified gravitational potential due to the zero-point length, we first find the logarithmic corrections to the entropy expression and then we derive the modified Friedman equations. Interestingly enough, we observe that the corrected Friedmann equations are similar to the Friedmann equations in braneworld scenario. In addition, from the corrected Friedmann equations, we pointed out a possible connection to the GUP principle which might have implications on the Hubble tension. To this end, we discuss the evolution of the scale factor under the effect of zero-point length. Finally, having in mind that the minimal length is of the Planck order, we obtain the critical density and the bouncing behavior of the universe with a critical density and a minimal scale factor of the order of Planck length.

We study the multi-fractional theory with $q$-derivatives, where the multi-fractional measure is considered to be in the time direction. The evolution of power spectra and also the expansion history of the universe are investigated in the $q$-derivatives theory. According to the matter power spectra diagrams, the structure growth would increase in the multi-fractional model, expressing incompatibility with low redshift measurements of large scale structures. Furthermore, concerning the diagrams of Hubble parameter evolution, there is a reduction in the value of Hubble constant which conflicts with local cosmological constraints. Thus, primary numerical investigations imply that $q$-derivatives theory has no potential to relieve observational tensions. We also explore the multi-fractional model with current observational data, principally Planck 2018, weak lensing, supernovae, baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO), and redshift-space distortions (RSD) measurements. Numerical analysis reveals that the degeneracy between multi-fractional parameters makes them remain unconstrained under observations. Furthermore, observational constraints on $H_0$ and $σ_8$, detect no significant departure from standard model of cosmology.

In this paper, we explore a fractal model of the universe proposed by Calcagni [JHEP{\bf03}(2010)120] for a power-counting renormalizable field theory living in a fractal spacetime. Considering a timelike fractal profile, we derived field equations in fractal cosmology, in order to explore the structure formation and the expansion history in fractal universe. Numerical investigations based on matter power spectra diagrams report higher structure growth in fractal cosmology, being in contrast to local galaxy surveys. Additionally, according to the evolution of Hubble parameter diagrams, it can be understood that Hubble constant would decrease in fractal cosmology, which is also incompatible with low redshift estimations of $H_0$. So, concerning primary numerical studies, it seems that fractal cosmology is not capable to alleviate the tensions between local and global observational probes. Then, in pursuance of more accurate results, we constrain the fractal cosmology by observational data, including Planck cosmic microwave background (CMB), weak lensing, supernovae, baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO), and redshift-space distortions (RSD) data. The derived constraints on fractal dimension $β$ indicate that there is no considerable deviation from standard model of cosmology.

We consider two types of corrections to the area law of entropy, known as Tsallis and Barrow entropies. Using these corrections to entropy, we derive the modified Friedmann equations and explore the growth of perturbations in a flat universe filled with dark matter (DM) and cosmological constant. We employ the spherically symmetric collapse formalism and work in the linear regime for the perturbations. Interestingly enough, we find out that the profile of density contrast quite differs from the standard cosmology in Tsallis and barrow cosmology. We observe that the growth rate of matter perturbations crucially depend on the values of Tsallis and Barrow parameters. With increasing these correction parameters to the entropy, the total density contrast increases as well. This implies that perturbations grow up faster in a universe with modified entropy corrected Friedmann equations.

We disclose the effects of an extra longitudinal degree of freedom on the evolution of perturbations in the framework of mimetic gravity. We consider a flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) background and explore the linear perturbations by adopting the spherically symmetric collapse formalism. By suitably choosing the potential of the mimetic field, we are able to solve the perturbed field equations in the linear regime and derive the matter density contrast δm in terms of the redshift parameter z. We observe that δm starts growing at the early stages and as the universe expands, it grows faster compared to the standard cosmology. This may due to the extra degree of freedom of the gravitational field which affects the growth of perturbations. We observe that in the presence of a mimetic potential, the growth rate function is smaller than ΛCDM model in small redshifts. We then consider the effects of this potential on the density abundance, the deceleration parameter and jerk parameter. We find out that mimetic potential can play the role of dark energy (DE) and affects the dynamics of matter perturbations and cosmological parameters. We also investigate the mass function and the number count for the collapsed objects in the mimetic scenario. We find that the mass function of models with potential is smaller than model without potential. With decreasing the role of DE, the mass function start to grow in smaller redshifts i.e., halo abundance is formed later. It is found that the more massive structures are less abundant and form at later times, as it should be in the hierarchical model of structure formation.

We disclose the effect of Gauss-Bonnet gravity on the properties of holographic $s$-wave and $p$-wave superconductors with higher order corrections in lower-dimensional spacetime. We employ shooting method to solve equations of motion numerically and obtain the effect of different values of mass, nonlinear gauge field and Gauss-Bonnet parameters on critical temperature and condensation. Based on our results, increasing each of these three parameters leads to lower temperatures and larger values of condensation. This phenomenon is rooted in the fact that conductor/superconductor phase transition faces with difficulty for higher effect of nonlinear and Gauss-Bonnet terms in the presence of a massive field. In addition, we study the electrical conductivity in holographic setup. In $D=4$, real and imaginary parts of conductivity in holographic $s$- and $p$-wave models behave similarly and follow the same trend as higher dimensions by showing the delta function and pole at low frequency regime that Kramers-Kronig relation can connect these two parts of conductivity to each other. We observe the appearance of a gap energy at $ω_{g}\approx 8T_{c}$ at which shifts toward higher frequencies by diminishing temperature and increasing the effect of nonlinear and Gauss-Bonnet terms. Conductivity in $D = 3$ is far different from other dimensions. Even the real and imaginary parts in $s$- and $p$-wave modes pursue various trends. For example in $ω\rightarrow 0$ limit, imaginary part in holographic $s$-wave model tends to infinity but in $p$-wave model approaches to zero. However, the real parts in both models show a delta function behavior. In general, real and imaginary parts of conductivity in all cases that we study tend to a constant value in $ω\rightarrow \infty$ regime.

We construct two new classes of analytical solutions in three-dimensional spacetime and in the framework of $f(R)$ gravity. The first class represents a non-rotating black hole (BH) while the second class corresponds to a rotating BH solution. The Ricci scalar of these BH solutions have non-trivial values and are described by the gravitational mass $M$, two angular momentums $J$ and $J_1$, and an effective cosmological constant $Λ_{eff}$. Moreover, these solutions do not restore the $3$-dimensional Bañados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (BTZ) solutions of general relativity (GR) which implies the novelty of the obtained BHs in $f(R)$ gravity. Depending on the range of the parameters, these solutions admit rotating/non-rotating asymptotically AdS/dS BH interpretation in spite that the field equation of $f(R)$ has no cosmological constant. Interestingly enough, we observe that in contrast to BTZ solution which has only causal singularity and scalar invariants are constant everywhere, the scalar invariants of these solutions indicate strong singularity for the spacetime. Furthermore, we construct the forms of the $f(R)$ function showing that they behave as polynomial functions. Finally, we show that the obtained solutions are stable from the viewpoint that heat capacity has a positive value, and also from the condition of Ostrogradski which state that the second derivative of $f(R)$ should have a positive value.

We then consider the Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) metric as the background metric and derive the modified Friedmann equations inspired by Barrow entropy. In order to explore observational constraints on the modified Barrow cosmology, we employ two different combinations of available datasets, mainly "Planck + Pantheon + BAO" and "Planck + Planck-SZ + CFHTLenS + Pantheon + BAO + BAORSD" datasets,. (i) Contrary to the charged AdS black hole, thermodynamic curvature of the spinning AdS black hole diverges at the critical point, without needing normalization.(ii) There is a certain region with small entropy in the space of parameters for which the thermodynamic curvature is positive and the repulsive interaction dominates. Such behavior exists even when the pressure is extremely large. (iii) The dominant interactions in the microstructure of extremal spinning AdS black holes are strongly repulsive, which is similar to an ideal gas of fermions at zero temperature. We observe that increasing the strength of both the power parameter $q$ and \emph{GB} coupling constant $α$ decrease the critical temperature of the holographic model, and lead to the harder formation of magnetic moment in the black hole background. Interestingly, we find out that at low temperatures, the spontaneous magnetization and ferromagnetic phase transition happen in the absence of external magnetic field. In this case, the critical exponent for magnetic moment has the mean field value, $1/2$, regardless of the values of $q$ and $α$. In the presence of external magnetic field, however, the magnetic susceptibility satisfies the Curie-Weiss law.

To preserve the conformal invariance in higher dimensions, we consider the Power-Maxwell (PM) electrodynamics as our gauge field. We introduce a massive $2$-form coupled to the PM field and perform the numerical shooting method in the probe limit by assuming the PM and the $2$-form fields do not back-react on the background geometry. The obtained results indicate that the critical temperature decreases with increasing the strength of the power parameter $q$ and dynamical exponent $z$. Besides, the formation of the magnetic moment in the black hole background is harder in the absence of an external magnetic field. At low temperatures, and in the absence of an external magnetic field, our result show the spontaneous magnetization and the ferromagnetic phase transition. We find that the critical exponent takes the universal value $β= 1/2$ regardless of the parameters $q, z, d$, which is in agreement with the mean field theory. In the presence of an external magnetic field, the magnetic susceptibility satisfies the Curie-Weiss law.

Inspired by the Covid-$19$ virus structure, Barrow argued that quantum-gravitational effects may introduce intricate, fractal features on the black hole horizon [Phys. Lett. B {\bf808} (2020) 135643]. In this viewpoint, black hole entropy no longer obeys the area law and instead it can be given by $S\sim A^{1+δ/2}$, where the exponent $δ$ ranges $0\leqδ\leq1$, and indicates the amount of the quantum-gravitational deformation effects. Based on this, and using the deep connection between gravity and thermodynamics, we disclose the effects of the Barrow entropy on the cosmological equations. For this purpose, we start from the first law of thermodynamics, $dE=TdS+WdV$, on the apparent horizon of the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) Universe, and derive the corresponding modified Friedmann equations by assuming the entropy associated with the apparent horizon has the form of Barrow entropy. We also examine the validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics for the Universe enclosed by the apparent horizon. Finally, we employ the emergence scenario of gravity and extract the modified Friedmann equation in the presence of Barrow entropy which coincide with one obtained from the first law of thermodynamics. When $δ=0$, the results of standard cosmology are deduced.

We calculate the observables $n_s$ and $r$ against the free parameter $β$. Comparing these parameters with the observed $n_s$ and $r$ in Planck 2018 paper, we find $β\lesssim 8\times 10^{-3}$ that strongly disfavors the Swampland conjecture.

We employ gauge/gravity duality to study the effects of Lifshitz scaling on the holographic $p$ wave superconductors in the presence of Born-Infeld (BI) nonlinear electrodynamics. By using the shooting method in the probe limit, we calculate the relation between critical temperature $T_{c}$ and $ρ^{z/d}$ numerically for different values of mass, nonlinear parameter $b$ and Lifshitz critical exponent $z$ in various dimensions. We observe that critical temperature decreases by increasing $b$, $z$ or the mass parameter $m$ which makes conductor/superconductor phase transition harder to form. In addition, we analyze the electrical conductivity and find the behavior of real and imaginary parts as a function of frequency which depend on the model parameters. However, some universal behaviors are seen. For instance at low frequencies, real part of conductivity shows a delta function behavior while the imaginary part has a pole which means that these two parts are connected to each other through Kramers-Kronig relation. The behavior of real part of conductivity in the large frequency regime can be achieved by $Re[σ]=ω^{D-4}$. Furthermore, with increasing the Lifshitz scaling $z$, the energy gap and the minimum values of the real and imaginary parts become unclear.

We analyze the microscopic properties of small-large phase transition of black holes with pressure and volume as the fluctuation variables. We observe that strong repulsive interactions dominate among the micro-structures of near extremal small black holes, and the thermodynamic curvature diverges to positive infinity for the extremal black holes. At the critical point, however, thermodynamic curvature diverges to negative infinity.

We revisit critical behaviour and phase structure of charged anti-deSitter (AdS) dilaton black holes for arbitrary values of dilaton coupling $α$, and realize several novel phase behaviour for this system. We adopt the viewpoint that cosmological constant (pressure) is fixed and treat the charge of the black hole as a thermodynamical variable. We study critical behaviour and phase structure by analyzing the phase diagrams in $T-S$ and $ q-T$ planes. We numerically derive the critical point in terms of $α$ and observe that for $α=1$ and $α\geq \sqrt{3}$, the system does not admit any critical point, while for $0<α<1$, the critical quantities are not significantly affected by $α$. We find that unstable behavior of the Gibbs free energy for $q<q_{c}$ exhibits a \textit{first order} (discontinuous) phase transition between small and large black holes for $0\leqα<1$. For $1<α<\sqrt{3}$ and $q>q_{c}$, however, a novel first order phase transition occurs between small and large black hole, which has not been observed in the previous studies on phase transition of charged AdS black holes.

Employing the non-additive Tsallis entropy, $S\sim A^β$, for the large-scale gravitational systems, we disclose that in the cosmological scales both Friedmann equation and the equation of motion for the Newtonian cosmology get modified, accordingly. We then derive the modified Newton's law of gravitation which is valid on the large scales. We show that, in the relativistic regime, the modified Friedmann equation admits an accelerated expansion, for a universe filled with ordinary matter, without invoking any kind of dark energy, provided the non-extensive parameter is chosen $β<1/2$. In the non-relativistic regime, however, the modified Newton's law of gravitation can explain the flat galactic rotation curves without invoking particle dark matter provided $β\lesssim1/2$. Our study may be regarded as an alternative explanation for the "dark side of the universe", through modification of the gravitational field equations.

We construct some new classes of topological black hole solutions in the context of mimetic gravity. We study the uncharged and charged black holes, separately. In the absence of a potential for the mimetic field, our solutions can address the flat rotation curves of spiral galaxies and alleviate the dark matter problem without invoking any kind of particle dark matter. Thus, mimetic gravity can provide a theoretical background for understanding flat galactic rotation curves through modification of the Schwarzschild spacetime. We also investigate the casual structure and physical properties of the solutions. The presence of the mimetic field changes the asymptotic behaviour of the spacetime. We observe that in the absence of a potential, our solutions are not asymptotically flat, while, in the presence of a negative constant potential for the mimetic field, the asymptotic behaviour of the solutions can be anti de-Sitter (AdS). Finally, we explore the motion of massless and massive particles and give a list of the types of orbits. We study the differences of geodesic motion in Einstein gravity and in mimentic gravity. In contrast to Einstein gravity, massive particles always move on bound orbits and cannot escape the black hole in mimentic gravity. Furthermore, we find stable bound orbits for massless particles.

We investigate analytically as well as numerically effects of nonlinear Born-Infeld (BI) electrodynamics on the properties of (1+1)-dimensional holographic $p$-wave superconductor in the context of gauge/gravity duality. We consider the case in which the gauge and vector fields backreact on the background geometry. We apply the Sturm-Liouville eigenvalue problem for the analytical approach as well as the shooting method for the numerical calculations. In both methods, we find out the relation between critical temperature $T_{c}$ and chemical potential $μ$ and show that both approaches are in good agreement with each other. We find that if one strengthen the effect of backreaction as well as nonlinearity, the critical temperature decreases which means that the condensation is harder to form. We also explore the conductivity of the one-dimensional holographic $p$-wave superconductor for different values of b and $T/T_{c}$. We find out that the real and imaginary parts of the conductivity have different behaviors in higher dimensions. The effects of different values of temperature is more apparent for larger values of nonlinearity parameter. In addition, for the fixed value of $T/T_{c}$ by increasing the effect of nonlinearity we observe larger values for Drude-like peak in real part of conductivity and deeper minimum for imaginary part.

We investigate a new class of $(n+1)$-dimensional topological black hole solutions in the context of massive gravity and in the presence of logarithmic nonlinear electrodynamics. Exploring higher dimensional solutions in massive gravity coupled to nonlinear electrodynamics is motivated by holographic hypothesis as well as string theory. We first construct exact solutions of the field equations and then explore the behavior of the metric functions for different values of the model parameters. We observe that our black holes admit the multi-horizons caused by a quantum effect called anti-evaporation. Next, by calculating the conserved and thermodynamic quantities, we obtain a generalized Smarr formula. We find that the first law of black holes thermodynamics is satisfied on the black hole horizon. We study thermal stability of the obtained solutions in both canonical and grand canonical ensembles. We reveal that depending on the model parameters, our solutions exhibit a rich variety of phase structures. Finally, we explore, for the first time without extending thermodynamics phase space, the critical behavior and reentrant phase transition for black hole solutions in massive gravity theory. We realize that there is a zeroth order phase transition for a specified range of charge value and the system experiences a large/small/large reentrant phase transition due to the presence of nonlinear electrodynamics.

Employing a new approach toward thermodynamic phase space, we investigate the phase transition, critical behavior and microscopic structure of higher dimensional black holes in an Anti-de Sitter (AdS) background and in the presence of Power-Maxwell field. In contrast to the usual extended $P-V$ phase space where the cosmological constant (pressure) is treated as a thermodynamic variable, we fix the cosmological constant and treat the charge of the black hole (or more precisely $Q^s$) as a thermodynamic variable. Based on this new standpoint, we develop the resemblance between higher dimensional nonlinear black hole and Van der Waals liquid-gas system. We write down the equation of state as $% Q^s=Q^s(T,ψ)$, where $ψ$ is the conjugate of $Q^s$, and construct a Smarr relation based on this new phase space as $M=M(S,P,Q^s)$, while $% s=2p/(2p-1)$ and $p$ is the power parameter of the Power-Maxwell Lagrangian. We obtain the Gibbs free energy of the system and find a swallowtail behaviour in Gibbs diagrams, which is a characteristic of first-order phase transition and express the analogy between our system and van der Waals fluid-gas system. Moreover, we calculate the critical exponents and show that they are independent of the model parameters and are the same as those of Van der Waals system which is predicted by the mean field theory. Finally , we successfully explain the microscopic behavior of the black hole by using thermodynamic geometry. We observe a gap in the scalar curvature $R$ occurs between small and large black hole. The maximum amount of the gap increases as the number of dimensions increases. We finally find that character of the interaction among the internal constituents of the black hole thermodynamic system is intrinsically a strong repulsive interaction.
