We present a comprehensive study of the angular structure functions for Drell-Yan leptons in $Z/γ$-boson production within the framework of the transverse momentum dependent (TMD) factorization theorem, including kinematic power corrections (KPCs). We find good agreement with the data in the applicability region of the TMD factorization theorem. The inclusion of KPCs allows us to describe all angular coefficients in a frame-independent manner using only the leading-twist TMD distributions: the unpolarized and the Boer-Mulders functions. The value of the Boer-Mulders function is determined using the ATLAS measurement of the $A_2$ angular coefficient. The analysis is performed at N$^4$LL perturbative order. Additionally, we discuss the technical implementation and impact of KPCs on the phenomenology of TMD distributions.

We address the problem of finite products that attain the joint spectral radius of a finite number of square matrices. Up to date the problem of existence of "forbidden products" remained open. We prove that the product $AABABABB$ (together with its circular shifts and their mirror images) never delivers the strict maximum to the joint spectral radius if we restrict consideration to pairs $\{A,B\}$ of real $2\by 2$ matrices. Under this restriction circular shifts and their mirror images constitute the class of isospectral products and hence they all have the same spectral radius for any pair $\{A,B\}$ of $2\by 2$ matrices, even complex. For pairs of complex matrices we have numerical evidence that $AABABABB$ is still a fobidden product. A couple of binary words that encode products from this isospectral class also happen to be the shortest forbidden patterns in the parametric family of double rotations.

They depend on three momentum fraction variables, which are restricted to a hexagon region, and the evolution kernels are defined via two-dimensional convolution in these variables. We present the numerical realisation of the twist-3 evolution equations at leading order in the strong coupling for all kinds of twist-3 PDF (quark, gluon, chiral-even/odd, etc). We provide two independent codes (in C and Fortran) that have been extensively cross-checked, and are ready-to-use. We supplement the paper with a review of known properties of twist-3 PDFs.

We establish robust relations between Transverse Momentum Dependent distributions (TMDs) and collinear distributions. We define weighted integrals of TMDs that we call Transverse Momentum Moments (TMMs) and prove that TMMs are equal to collinear distributions evaluated in some minimal subtraction scheme. The conversion to the $\bar{MS}$-scheme can be done by a calculable factor, which we derive up to three loops for some cases. We discuss in detail the zeroth, the first, and the second TMMs and provide phenomenological results for them based on the current extractions of TMDs. The results of this paper open new avenues for theoretical and phenomenological investigation of the three-dimensional and collinear hadron structures.

The correlation properties of a dense random system of disks with a power-law size distribution are analyzed in momentum space in the thermodynamic limit. The limit assumes that the total number the disks increases infinitely, while the mean density of the disk centers and the range of the size distribution are kept constant. The structure factor dependence on momentum transfer is investigated for various numbers of disks and extrapolated to the thermodynamic limit. The fractal power-law decay of the structure factor is recovered in momentum space within the fractal range, which corresponds to the range of the size distribution in real space. The fractal exponent coincides with the exponent of the power-law size distribution as was shown previously by the authors [Cherny, Anitas, Osipov, J. Chem. Phys. 158 (4), 044114 (2023)]. The finite-size effects are also studied at very small momentum of order of the inverse system size. We show that the structure factor is parabolic in this region and calculate the prefactor analytically. The obtained results reveal fractal-like properties of the packing. Our findings can be used to analyze small-angle scattering from such systems.

A neutral delay differential equation (NDDE) model of a Kerr cavity with external coherent injection is developed that can be considered as a generalization of the Ikeda map with second and higher order dispersion being taken into account. It is shown that this model has solutions in the form of dissipative solitons both in the limit, where the model can be reduced to the Lugiato-Lefever equation (LLE), and beyond this limit, where the soliton is eventually destroyed by the Cherenkov radiation. Unlike the standard LLE the NDDE model is able to describe the overlap of multiple resonances associated with different cavity modes.

This work is dedicated to the study of power expansion in the transverse momentum dependent (TMD) factorization theorem. Each genuine term in this expansion gives rise to a series of kinematic power corrections (KPCs). All terms of this series exhibit the same properties as the leading term and share the same nonperturbative content. Among various power corrections, KPCs are especially important since they restore charge conservation and frame invariance, which are violated at a fixed power order. I derive and sum a series of KPCs associated with the leading-power term of the TMD factorization theorem. The resulting expression resembles a hadronic tensor computed with free massless quarks while still satisfying a proven factorization statement. Additionally, I provide an explicit check of this novel form of factorization theorem at the next-to-leading order (NLO) and demonstrate the restoration of the frame-invariant argument of the leading-power coefficient function. Numerical estimations show that incorporating the summed KPCs into the cross-section leads to an almost constant shift, which may help to explain the observed challenges in the TMD phenomenology.

We present the complete expression for SIDIS structure functions in the TMD factorization formalism at the next-to-leading power. All perturbative elements of the factorization theorem -- coefficient functions and evolution kernels -- are presented at one-loop accuracy. We found several differences with earlier derivations, which are due to accounting for nontrivial kinematics of the quark-gluon interference terms. As a side result, we present the definition and evolution of twist-three TMD fragmentation functions, including the leading-order evolution kernel.

It is the result of a community effort, incorporating insights from a series of workshops conducted between March 2022 and April 2023. With a track record of over 25 years in delivering the world's most intense and precise multi-GeV electron beams, CEBAF's potential for a higher energy upgrade presents a unique opportunity for an innovative nuclear physics program, which seamlessly integrates a rich historical background with a promising future. The proposed physics program encompass a diverse range of investigations centered around the nonperturbative dynamics inherent in hadron structure and the exploration of strongly interacting systems. It builds upon the exceptional capabilities of CEBAF in high-luminosity operations, the availability of existing or planned Hall equipment, and recent advancements in accelerator technology. The proposed program cover various scientific topics, including Hadron Spectroscopy, Partonic Structure and Spin, Hadronization and Transverse Momentum, Spatial Structure, Mechanical Properties, Form Factors and Emergent Hadron Mass, Hadron-Quark Transition, and Nuclear Dynamics at Extreme Conditions, as well as QCD Confinement and Fundamental Symmetries. Each topic highlights the key measurements achievable at a 22 GeV CEBAF accelerator. Furthermore, this document outlines the significant physics outcomes and unique aspects of these programs that distinguish them from other existing or planned facilities. In summary, this document provides an exciting rationale for the energy upgrade of CEBAF to 22 GeV, outlining the transformative scientific potential that lies within reach, and the remarkable opportunities it offers for advancing our understanding of hadron physics and related fundamental phenomena.

We present the extraction of unpolarized transverse momentum dependent parton distributions functions (TMDPDFs) and Collins-Soper kernel from the fit of Drell-Yan and weak-vector boson production data. The TMDPDF are parameterized, as commonly done, using their (large transverse momentum) asymptotic matching to PDF. The analysis is done at the next-to-next-to-next-to-next-to leading logarithmic accuracy (N$^4$LL) (performed only approximately because PDF evolution is known so far at next-to-next-to leading order (NNLO)). The non-perturbative model used for TMDPDF is flavor dependent to reduce the colllinear PDF bias. The estimation of uncertainties is done with the replica method and, for the first time, it includes the propagation of uncertainties due to the collinear distributions.

Our analyses demonstrate the consistency of different lattice extractions of the CS kernel for mesons and baryons, as well as for twist-two and twist-three operators, even though lattice artifacts could be significant. This consistency corroborates the universality of the lattice-determined CS kernel and suggests that a high-precision determination of it is in reach.

The quasi-transverse-momentum dependent (qTMD) distributions are equal-time correlators that can be computed within the lattice QCD approach. In the regime of large hadron's momentum, qTMD distributions are expressed in terms of standard TMD distributions via the factorization theorem. We derive the corresponding factorization theorem at the next-leading power (NLP), and, for the first time, we present the factorized expressions for a large class of qTMD distributions of sub-leading power. The NLP expression contains TMD distributions of twist-two, twist-three, and a new lattice-specific nonperturbative function. We point out that some of the qTMD distributions considered in this work can be employed to extract the Collins-Soper kernel using the standard techniques of different-momenta-ratio. We provide NLO expressions for all the elements of the factorization theorem. Also, for the first time, we explicitly demonstrate the restoration of boost invariance in NLP TMD factorization.

The processes studied include semi-inclusive Deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS) where single hadrons (pions and kaons) were detected in addition to the scattered DIS lepton. The single hadron cross sections and multiplicities were extracted as a function of the DIS variables $x$ and $Q^2$, as well as the semi-inclusive variables $z$, which corresponds to the momentum fraction the detected hadron carries relative to the struck parton and $P_T$, which corresponds to the transverse momentum of the detected hadron relative to the virtual photon. The expected statistical precision of such measurements is extrapolated to accumulated luminosities of 10 fb$^{-1}$ and potential systematic uncertainties are approximated given the deviations between true and reconstructed yields.

We performed feasibility studies for various single transverse spin measurements that are related to the Sivers effect, transversity and the tensor charge, and the Collins fragmentation function. The processes studied include semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS) where single hadrons (pions and kaons) were detected in addition to the scattered DIS lepton. The data were obtained in {\sc pythia}6 and {\sc geant}4 simulated e+p collisions at 18 GeV on 275 GeV, 18 on 100, 10 on 100, and 5 on 41 that use the ECCE detector configuration. Typical DIS kinematics were selected, most notably $Q^2 > 1 $ GeV$^2$, and cover the $x$ range from $10^{-4}$ to $1$. The single spin asymmetries were extracted as a function of $x$ and $Q^2$, as well as the semi-inclusive variables $z$, and $P_T$. They are obtained in azimuthal moments in combinations of the azimuthal angles of the hadron transverse momentum and transverse spin of the nucleon relative to the lepton scattering plane. The initially unpolarized MonteCarlo was re-weighted in the true kinematic variables, hadron types and parton flavors based on global fits of fixed target SIDIS experiments and $e^+e^-$ annihilation data. The expected statistical precision of such measurements is extrapolated to 10 fb$^{-1}$ and potential systematic uncertainties are approximated given the deviations between true and reconstructed yields. The impact on the knowledge of the Sivers functions, transversity and tensor charges, and the Collins function has then been evaluated in the same phenomenological extractions as in the Yellow Report. The impact is found to be comparable to that obtained with the parameterized Yellow Report detector and shows that the ECCE detector configuration can fulfill the physics goals on these quantities.

We present an in-depth analysis of transverse momentum dependent (TMD) distributions of twist-three. In particular, we focus on evolution equations, symmetry relations, parameterization, interpretation, small-b asymptotic behaviour and the structure of singularities. The starting point of discussion are the correlators with the definite TMD-twist. By considering suitable combinations of these correlators, we introduce physical TMD distribution of twist-three that can be used for practical applications. We also establish relations with generic TMD distribution of twist-three, and demonstrate that their evolution equations are autonomous in the large-$N_c$ limit.

Transverse momentum dependent (TMD) distributions match collinear parton density functions (PDF) in the limit of small transverse distances, which is accounted for by global extractions of TMD distributions. We study the influence of the collinear PDF value and uncertainties on the determination of unpolarized TMD distributions and the description of Drell-Yan (DY) and Z-boson production measurements at low transverse momenta. We take into account, for the first time, flavor-dependent non-perturbative TMD profiles. We carry out a Bayesian analysis to incorporate the propagation of PDF uncertainties into TMD extractions. We find that collinear PDF uncertainties and non-perturbative TMD flavor dependence are both essential to obtain reliable TMD determinations, and should be included in future global analyses.

Asymptotic linear stability analysis of the continuous wave solutions performed in the limit of large delay indicates that in a class-B laser flip instability leading to a period doubling cascade and development of square-wave patterns can be suppressed by a short wavelength modulational instability. A consistent microscopic theory of superconductivity for strongly correlated electronic systems is presented within the extended t-J-V model where the intersite Coulomb repulsion and the electron-phonon interaction are taken into account. The exact Dyson equation for the normal and anomalous (pair) Green functions is derived for the projected (Hubbard) electronic operators. The equation is solved in the self-consistent Born approximation for the self-energy. We obtain the d-wave pairing with high-Tc induced by the strong kinematical interaction of the order of the kinetic energy $\sim t$ of electrons with spin fluctuations which is much larger than the exchange interaction J. The Coulomb repulsion and the electron-phonon interaction give small contributions for the d-wave pairing. These results support the spin-fluctuation mechanism of high-temperature superconductivity in cuprates previously proposed in phenomenological models.

This paper deals with a version of the two-timing method which describes various `slow' effects caused by externally imposed `fast' oscillations. Such small oscillations are often called \emph{vibrations} and the research area can be referred as \emph{vibrodynamics}. The governing equations represent a generic system of first-order ODEs containing a prescribed oscillating velocity u, given in a general form. Two basic small parameters stand in for the inverse frequency and the ratio of two time-scales; they appear in equations as regular perturbations. The proper connections between these parameters yield the \emph{distinguished limits}, leading to the existence of closed systems of asymptotic equations. The aim of this paper is twofold: (i) to clarify (or to demystify) the choices of a slow variable, and (ii) to give a coherent exposition which is accessible for practical users in applied mathematics, sciences and engineering. We focus our study on the usually hidden aspects of the two-timing method such as the \emph{uniqueness or multiplicity of distinguished limits} and \emph{universal structures of averaged equations}. The main result is the demonstration that there are two (and only two) different distinguished limits. The explicit instruction for practically solving ODEs for different classes of u is presented. The key roles of drift velocity and the qualitatively new appearance of the linearized equations are discussed. To illustrate the broadness of our approach, two examples from mathematical biology are shown.

This report describes the physics case, the resulting detector requirements, and the evolving detector concepts for the experimental program at the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC). The EIC will be a powerful new high-luminosity facility in the United States with the capability to collide high-energy electron beams with high-energy proton and ion beams, providing access to those regions in the nucleon and nuclei where their structure is dominated by gluons. Moreover, polarized beams in the EIC will give unprecedented access to the spatial and spin structure of the proton, neutron, and light ions. The studies leading to this document were commissioned and organized by the EIC User Group with the objective of advancing the state and detail of the physics program and developing detector concepts that meet the emerging requirements in preparation for the realization of the EIC. The effort aims to provide the basis for further development of concepts for experimental equipment best suited for the science needs, including the importance of two complementary detectors and interaction regions.
This report consists of three volumes. Volume I is an executive summary of our findings and developed concepts. In Volume II we describe studies of a wide range of physics measurements and the emerging requirements on detector acceptance and performance. Volume III discusses general-purpose detector concepts and the underlying technologies to meet the physics requirements. These considerations will form the basis for a world-class experimental program that aims to increase our understanding of the fundamental structure of all visible matter

We consider an optical resonator containing a photonic crystal fiber and driven coherently by an injected beam. This device is described by a generalized Lugiato-Lefever equation with fourth order dispersion. We use an asymptotic approach to derive interaction equations governing the slow time evolution of the coordinates of two interacting dissipative solitons. We show that Cherenkov radiation induced by positive fourth-order dispersion leads to a strong increase of the interaction force between the solitons. As a consequence, large number of equidistant soliton bound states in the phase space of the interaction equations can be stabilized. We show that the presence of even small spectral filtering not only dampens the Cherenkov radiation at the soliton tails and reduces the interaction strength, but can also affect the the bound state stability.

The rapidity anomalous dimension (RAD), or Collins-Soper kernel, defines the scaling properties of transverse momentum dependent distributions and can be extracted from the experimental data. I derive a self-contained nonperturbative definition that represents RAD without reference to a particular process. This definition makes possible exploration of the properties of RAD by theoretical methods on one side, and the properties of QCD vacuum with collider measurements on another side. Experimental measurements of Drell-Yan (DY) vector-boson production are available from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and from lower-energy collider and fixed-target experiments. In the region of low vector-boson transverse momenta $q_T$, which is important for the extraction of the $W$-boson mass at the LHC, QCD contributions from non-perturbative Sudakov form factors and intrinsic transverse momentum distributions become relevant. We study the potential for determining such contributions from fits to LHC and lower-energy experimental data, using the framework of low-$q_T$ factorization for DY differential cross sections in terms of transverse momentum dependent (TMD) distribution functions. We investigate correlations between different sources of TMD non-perturbative effects, and correlations with collinear parton distributions. We stress the relevance of accurate DY measurements at low masses and with fine binning in transverse momentum for improved determinations of long-distance contributions to Sudakov evolution processes and TMDs.

Abstract:
The stationary radial distribution, $P(ρ)$, of the random walk with the diffusion coefficient $D$, which winds with the tangential velocity $V$ around the impenetrable disc of radius $R$ for $R\gg 1$ converges to the distribution involving the Airy function. Typical trajectories are localized in the circular strip $[R, R+ δR^{1/3}]$, where $δ$ is the constant which depends on the parameters $D$ an…

Abstract:
Using soft collinear effective field theory, we derive the factorization theorem for the quasi-transverse-momentum-dependent (quasi-TMD) operator. We check the factorization theorem at one-loop level and compute the corresponding coefficient function and anomalous dimensions. Using soft collinear effective field theory, we derive the factorization theorem for the quasi-transverse-momentum-dependent (quasi-TMD) operator. We check the factorization theorem at one-loop level and compute the corresponding coefficient function and anomalous dimensions. The factorized expression is built from the physical TMD distribution, and a nonperturbative lattice related factor. We demonstrate that lattice related functions cancel in appropriately constructed ratios. These ratios could be used to explore various properties of TMD distributions, for instance, the nonperturbative evolution kernel. A discussion of such ratios and the related continuum properties of TMDs is presented.

In this paper, we analyse the basic ideas of Vibrodynamics and the two-timing method. To make our analysis most instructive, we have chosen the Newton's equation with a general oscillating force. We deal with its asymptotic solutions in the high frequency limit. Our treatment is simple but general. The targets of our study are \emph{the distinguished limits} and \emph{the universal vibrogenic force}. The aim of \emph{the distinguished limit procedure} is to identify how the small parameter can appear in an equation. The proper appearance of a small parameter leads to \emph{valid successive approximations}, and, in particular, to closed systems of averaged equations. We show, that there are only two distinguished limits. This means that Newton's equation, with high-frequency forcing, has two types of interesting asymptotic solutions. The key item in the averaged equations for all distinguished limits is \emph{the unique vibrogenic force}. The current state-of-the-art in this area is: a large number of particular examples are well-known, effective and advanced general methods (like the Krylov-Bogolyubov approach) are well developed. However, the presented general and simple analysis of distinguished limits and the vibrogenic force, formulated as a compact practical guide, is novel. An advantage of our treatment is the possibility of its straightforward use for various ODEs and PDEs with oscillating coefficients.

We show that depending on the direction of the frequency sweep of a narrowband filter, there exist two bursting cycles determined by different parts of a continuous-wave solutions branch.
