In the research of next-generation wireless communication technologies, orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) modulation is emerging as a promising technique for high-speed mobile environments due to its superior efficiency and robustness in doubly selective channels. Additionally, the cell-free architecture, which eliminates the issues associated with cell boundaries, offers broader coverage for radio access networks. By combining cell-free network architecture with OTFS modulation, the system may meet the demands of massive random access required by machine-type communication devices in high-speed scenarios. This paper explores a massive random access scheme based on OTFS modulation within a cell-free architecture. A transceiver model for uplink OTFS signals involving multiple access points (APs) is developed, where channel estimation with fractional channel parameters is approximated as a block sparse matrix recovery problem. Building on existing superimposed and embedded preamble schemes, a hybrid preamble scheme is proposed. This scheme leverages superimposed and embedded preambles to respectively achieve rough and accurate active user equipment (UEs) detection (AUD), as well as precise channel estimation, under the condition of supporting a large number of access UEs. Moreover, this study introduces a generalized approximate message passing and pattern coupling sparse Bayesian learning with Laplacian prior (GAMP-PCSBL-La) algorithm, which effectively captures block sparse features after discrete cosine transform (DCT), delivering precise estimation results with reduced computational complexity. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme is effective and provides superior performance compared to other existing schemes.

One of the primary challenges in short packet ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (URLLC) is to achieve reliable channel estimation and data detection while minimizing the impact on latency performance. Given the small packet size in mini-slot-assisted URLLC, relying solely on pilot-based coherent detection is almost impossible to meet the seemingly contradictory requirements of high channel estimation accuracy, high reliability, low training overhead, and low latency. In this paper, we explore differential modulation both in the frequency domain and in the time domain, and propose adopting an adaptive approach that integrates both differential and coherent detection to achieve mini-slot-assisted short packet URLLC, striking a balance among training overhead, system performance, and computational complexity. Specifically, differential (especially in the frequency domain) and coherent detection schemes can be dynamically activated based on application scenarios, channel statistics, information payloads, mini-slot deployment options, and service requirements. Furthermore, we derive the block error rate (BLER) for pilot-based, frequency domain, and time domain differential OFDM using non-asymptotic information-theoretic bounds. Simulation results validate the feasibility and effectiveness of adaptive differential and coherent detection.

Serving disaggregated large language models (LLMs) over tens of thousands of xPU devices (GPUs or NPUs) with reliable performance faces multiple challenges. 1) Ignoring the diversity (various prefixes and tidal requests), treating all the prompts in a mixed pool is inadequate. To facilitate the similarity per scenario and minimize the inner mismatch on P/D (prefill and decoding) processing, fine-grained organization is required, dynamically adjusting P/D ratios for better performance. 2) Due to inaccurate estimation on workload (queue status or maintained connections), the global scheduler easily incurs unnecessary timeouts in prefill. 3) Block-fixed device-to-device (D2D) KVCache transfer over cluster-level RDMA (remote direct memory access) fails to achieve desired D2D utilization as expected. To overcome previous problems, this paper proposes an end-to-end system P/D-Serve, complying with the paradigm of MLOps (machine learning operations), which models end-to-end (E2E) P/D performance and enables: 1) fine-grained P/D organization, mapping the service with RoCE (RDMA over converged ethernet) as needed, to facilitate similar processing and dynamic adjustments on P/D ratios; 2) on-demand forwarding upon rejections for idle prefill, decoupling the scheduler from regular inaccurate reports and local queues, to avoid timeouts in prefill; and 3) efficient KVCache transfer via optimized D2D access. P/D-Serve is implemented upon Ascend and MindSpore, has been deployed over tens of thousands of NPUs for more than eight months in commercial use, and further achieves 60\%, 42\% and 46\% improvements on E2E throughput, time-to-first-token (TTFT) SLO (service level objective) and D2D transfer time. As the E2E system with optimizations, P/D-Serve achieves 6.7x increase on throughput, compared with aggregated LLMs.

The emergence of quantum mechanics and general relativity has transformed our understanding of the natural world significantly. However, integrating these two theories presents immense challenges, and their interplay remains untested. Recent theoretical studies suggest that the single-photon interference covering huge space can effectively probe the interface between quantum mechanics and general relativity. We developed an alternative design using unbalanced Michelson interferometers to address this and validated its feasibility over an 8.4 km free-space channel. Using a high-brightness single-photon source based on quantum dots, we demonstrated single-photon interference along this long-distance baseline. We achieved a phase measurement precision of 16.2 mrad, which satisfied the measurement requirements for a gravitational redshift at the geosynchronous orbit by five times the standard deviation. Our results confirm the feasibility of the single-photon version of the Colella-Overhauser-Werner experiment for testing the quantum effects in curved spacetime.

However, prevailing methods often erroneously focus on background areas, neglecting the capture of genuinely effective discriminative information from the subject, thus impeding practical application. To facilitate research into the impact of background noise on models and enhance their ability to concentrate on the subject's discriminative features, we propose an engineered pipeline that leverages the capabilities of SAM and Detic to create fine-grained datasets with only foreground subjects, devoid of background. Extensive cross-experiments validate this approach as a preprocessing step prior to training, enhancing algorithmic performance and holding potential for further modal expansion of the data.

User mobility modeling serves a crucial role in analysis and optimization of contemporary wireless networks. Typical stochastic mobility models, e.g., random waypoint model and Gauss Markov model, can hardly capture the distribution characteristics of users within real-world areas. State-of-the-art trace-based mobility models and existing learning-based trajectory generation methods, however, are frequently constrained by the inaccessibility of substantial real trajectories due to privacy concerns. In this paper, we harness the intrinsic correlation between street maps and trajectories and develop a novel zero-shot trajectory generation method, named Map2Traj, by exploiting the diffusion model. We incorporate street maps as a condition to consistently pilot the denoising process and train our model on diverse sets of real trajectories from various regions in Xi'an, China, and their corresponding street maps. With solely the street map of an unobserved area, Map2Traj generates synthetic trajectories that not only closely resemble the real-world mobility pattern but also offer comparable efficacy. Extensive experiments validate the efficacy of our proposed method on zero-shot trajectory generation tasks in terms of both trajectory and distribution similarities. In addition, a case study of employing Map2Traj in wireless network optimization is presented to validate its efficacy for downstream applications.

Score-based methods have demonstrated their effectiveness in discovering causal relationships by scoring different causal structures based on their goodness of fit to the data. Recently, Huang et al. proposed a generalized score function that can handle general data distributions and causal relationships by modeling the relations in reproducing kernel Hilbert space (RKHS). The selection of an appropriate kernel within this score function is crucial for accurately characterizing causal relationships and ensuring precise causal discovery. However, the current method involves manual heuristic selection of kernel parameters, making the process tedious and less likely to ensure optimality. In this paper, we propose a kernel selection method within the generalized score function that automatically selects the optimal kernel that best fits the data. Specifically, we model the generative process of the variables involved in each step of the causal graph search procedure as a mixture of independent noise variables. Based on this model, we derive an automatic kernel selection method by maximizing the marginal likelihood of the variables involved in each search step. We conduct experiments on both synthetic data and real-world benchmarks, and the results demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms heuristic kernel selection methods.

Generative models hold promise for revolutionizing medical education, robot-assisted surgery, and data augmentation for medical AI development. Diffusion models can now generate realistic images from text prompts, while recent advancements have demonstrated their ability to create diverse, high-quality videos. However, these models often struggle with generating accurate representations of medical procedures and detailed anatomical structures. This paper introduces Bora, the first spatio-temporal diffusion probabilistic model designed for text-guided biomedical video generation. Bora leverages Transformer architecture and is pre-trained on general-purpose video generation tasks. It is fine-tuned through model alignment and instruction tuning using a newly established medical video corpus, which includes paired text-video data from various biomedical fields. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first attempt to establish such a comprehensive annotated biomedical video dataset. Bora is capable of generating high-quality video data across four distinct biomedical domains, adhering to medical expert standards and demonstrating consistency and diversity. This generalist video generative model holds significant potential for enhancing medical consultation and decision-making, particularly in resource-limited settings. Additionally, Bora could pave the way for immersive medical training and procedure planning. Extensive experiments on distinct medical modalities such as endoscopy, ultrasound, MRI, and cell tracking validate the effectiveness of our model in understanding biomedical instructions and its superior performance across subjects compared to state-of-the-art generation models.

Automatic and precise segmentation of vertebrae from CT images is crucial for various clinical applications. However, due to a lack of explicit and strict constraints, existing methods especially for single-stage methods, still suffer from the challenge of intra-vertebrae segmentation inconsistency, which refers to multiple label predictions inside a singular vertebra. For multi-stage methods, vertebrae detection serving as the first step, is affected by the pathology and mental implants. Thus, incorrect detections cause biased patches before segmentation, then lead to inconsistent labeling and segmentation. In our work, motivated by the perspective of instance segmentation, we try to label individual and complete binary masks to address this limitation. Specifically, a contour-based network is proposed based on Structural Low-Rank Descriptors for shape consistency, termed SLoRD. These contour descriptors are acquired in a data-driven manner in advance. For a more precise representation of contour descriptors, we adopt the spherical coordinate system and devise the spherical centroid. Besides, the contour loss is designed to impose explicit consistency constraints, facilitating regressed contour points close to vertebral boundaries. Quantitative and qualitative evaluations on VerSe 2019 demonstrate the superior performance of our framework over other single-stage and multi-stage state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods.

This paper derives a generalized class of waveforms with an application to machine-type communication (MTC) while studying its underlying structural characteristics in relation to conventional modulation waveforms. First, a canonical waveform of frequency-error tolerance is identified for a unified preamble and traffic signal design, ideal for MTC use as a composite waveform, commonly known as a transmission burst. It is shown that the most widely used modulation schemes for mIoT traffic signals, e.g., FSK and LoRa modulation, are simply subsets of the canonical waveform. The intrinsic characteristics and degrees of freedom the waveform offers are then explored. Most significantly, a new waveform dimension is uncovered and exploited as additional degrees of freedom for satisfying the MTC requirements, i.e., energy and resource efficiency and robustness. The corresponding benefits are evaluated analytically and numerically in AWGN, frequency-flat, and selective channels. We demonstrate that neither FSK nor LoRa can fully address the mIoT requirements since neither fully exploits the degrees of freedom from the perspective of the generalized waveform class. Finally, a solution is devised to optimize energy and resource efficiency under various deployment environments and practical constraints while maintaining the low-complexity property.

In the sixth generation (6G), ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC) will further develop to achieve TKu extreme connectivity, and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) is expected to be a key enabler for its realization. Since the latency constraint can be represented by the blocklength of a codeword, it is essential to analyze different coded MIMO schemes under finite blocklength regime. In this paper, we analyze the statistical characteristics of information density of time-domain coding and spatiotemporal coding MIMO, compute the channel capacity and dispersion, and present new explicit performance bounds of finite blocklength coded MIMO for different coding modes via normal approximation. As revealed by the analysis and simulation, spatiotemporal coding can effectively mitigate the performance loss induced by short blocklength by increasing the spatial degree of freedom (DoF). However, for time-domain coding, each spatial link is encoded independently, and the performance loss will be more severe with short blocklength under any spatial DoF. These results indicate that spatiotemporal coding can optimally exploit the spatial dimension advantages of MIMO systems compared with time-domain coding, and it has the potential to support URLLC transmission, enabling very low error-rate communication under stringent blocklength constraint.

Multi-static integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) technology, which can achieve a wider coverage range and avoid self-interference, is an important trend for the future development of ISAC. Existing multi-static ISAC designs are unable to support the asymmetric uplink (UL)/downlink (DL) communication requirements in the scenario while simultaneously achieving optimal sensing performance. This paper proposes a design for multi-static ISAC based on network-assisted full-duplex (NAFD) cell-free networks can well solve the above problems. Under this design, closed-form expressions for the individual comunication rate and localization error rate are derived under imperfect channel state information, which are respectively utilized to assess the communication and sensing performances. Then, we propose a deep Q-network-based accesss point (AP) duplex mode optimization algorithm to obtain the trade-off between communication and sensing from the UL and DL perspectives of the APs. Simulation results demonstrate that the NAFD-based ISAC system proposed in this paper can achieve significantly better communication performance than other ISAC systems while ensuring minimal impact on sensing performance. Then, we validate the accuracy of the derived closed-form expressions. Furthermore, the proposed optimization algorithm achieves performance comparable to that of the exhaustion method with low complexity.

In this paper, we investigate a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system under typical block-fading channels. As a non-trivial extension to most existing works on ISAC, both the training and transmission signals sent by the ISAC transmitter are exploited for sensing. Specifically, we develop two training and transmission design schemes to minimize a weighted sum of the mean-squared errors (MSEs) of data transmission and radar target response matrix (TRM) estimation. For the former, we first optimize the training signal for simultaneous communication channel and radar TRM estimation. Then, based on the estimated instantaneous channel state information (CSI), we propose an efficient majorization-minimization (MM)-based robust ISAC transmission design, where a semi-closed form solution is obtained in each iteration. For the second scheme, the ISAC transmitter is assumed to have statistical CSI only for reducing the feedback overhead. With CSI statistics available, we integrate the training and transmission design into one single problem and propose an MM-based alternating algorithm to find a high-quality solution. In addition, we provide alternative structured and low-complexity solutions for both schemes under certain special cases. Finally, simulation results demonstrate that the radar performance is significantly improved compared to the existing scheme that integrates sensing into the transmission stage only. Moreover, it is verified that the investigated two schemes have advantages in terms of communication and sensing performances, respectively.

Given a large dataset of many tuples, it is hard for users to pick out their preferred tuples. Thus, the preference query problem, which is to find the most preferred tuples from a dataset, is widely discussed in the database area. In this problem, a utility function is given by the user to evaluate to what extent the user prefers a tuple. However, considering a dataset consisting of N tuples, the existing algorithms need O(N) time to answer a query, or need O(N) time for a cold start to answer a query. The reason is that in a classical computer, a linear time is needed to evaluate the utilities by the utility function for N tuples. In this paper, we discuss the Quantum Preference Query (QPQ) problem, where the dataset is given in a quantum memory, and we use a quantum computer to return the answers. Due to quantum parallelism, the quantum algorithm can theoretically perform better than their classical competitors. We discuss this problem in different kinds of input and output. In the QPQ problem, the input can be a number k or a threshold theta. Given k, the problem is to return k tuples with the highest utilities. Given theta, the problem is to return all the tuples with utilities higher than theta. Also, in QPQ problem, the output can be classical (i.e., a list of tuples) or quantum (i.e., a superposition in quantum bits). We proposed four quantum algorithms to solve the problems in the above four scenarios. We analyze the number of memory accesses needed for each quantum algorithm, which shows that the proposed quantum algorithms are at least quadratically faster than their classical competitors. In our experiments, we show that to answer a QPQ problem, the quantum algorithms achieve up to 1000x improvement in number of memory accesses than their classical competitors, which proved that QPQ problem could be a future direction of the study of preference query problems.

Quantum computing is a popular topic in computer science, which has recently attracted many studies in various areas such as machine learning and network. However, the topic of quantum data structures seems neglected. There is an open problem in the database area: Can we improve existing data structures by quantum techniques? Consider a dataset of key-record pairs. Given an interval as a query range, a classical B+ tree can report all the records with keys within this interval, which is called a range query, in O(log N + k) time, where N is the total number of records and k is the output size. It is asymptotically optimal in a classical computer but not efficient enough in a quantum computer, because it is expected that the execution time and the output size are linear in a quantum computer.
In this paper, we propose the quantum range query problem. Different from the classical range queries, a quantum range query returns the results in quantum bits, which has broad potential applications due to the foreseeable advance of quantum computers and quantum algorithms. To the best of our knowledge, we design the first tree-like quantum data structure called the quantum B+ tree. Based on this data structure, we propose a hybrid quantum-classical algorithm to do the range search. It answers a static quantum range query in O(log_B N) time, which is asymptotically optimal in quantum computers. Since the execution time does not depend on the output size (i.e., k, which could be as large as O(N)), it is significantly faster than the classical data structure. Moreover, we extend our quantum B+ tree to answer the dynamic and d-dimensional quantum range queries efficiently in O(log^2_B N) and O(log^d_B N) time, respectively. Our experimental results show that our proposed quantum data structures achieve up to 1000x improvement in the number of memory accesses compared to their classical competitors.

This paper analyzes the impact of pilot-sharing scheme on synchronization performance in a scenario where several slave access points (APs) with uncertain carrier frequency offsets (CFOs) and timing offsets (TOs) share a common pilot sequence. First, the Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) with pilot contamination is derived for pilot-pairing estimation. Furthermore, a maximum likelihood algorithm is presented to estimate the CFO and TO among the pairing APs. Then, to minimize the sum of CRBs, we devise a synchronization strategy based on a pilot-sharing scheme by jointly optimizing the cluster classification, synchronization overhead, and pilot-sharing scheme, while simultaneously considering the overhead and each AP's synchronization requirements. To solve this NP-hard problem, we simplify it into two sub-problems, namely cluster classification problem and the pilot sharing problem. To strike a balance between synchronization performance and overhead, we first classify the clusters by using the K-means algorithm, and propose a criteria to find a good set of master APs. Then, the pilot-sharing scheme is obtained by using the swap-matching operations. Simulation results validate the accuracy of our derivations and demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme over the benchmark schemes.

To enable wireless federated learning (FL) in communication resource-constrained networks, two communication schemes, i.e., digital and analog ones, are effective solutions. In this paper, we quantitatively compare these two techniques, highlighting their essential differences as well as respectively suitable scenarios. We first examine both digital and analog transmission schemes, together with a unified and fair comparison framework under imbalanced device sampling, strict latency targets, and transmit power constraints. A universal convergence analysis under various imperfections is established for evaluating the performance of FL over wireless networks. These analytical results reveal that the fundamental difference between the digital and analog communications lies in whether communication and computation are jointly designed or not. The digital scheme decouples the communication design from FL computing tasks, making it difficult to support uplink transmission from massive devices with limited bandwidth and hence the performance is mainly communication-limited. In contrast, the analog communication allows over-the-air computation (AirComp) and achieves better spectrum utilization. However, the computation-oriented analog transmission reduces power efficiency, and its performance is sensitive to computation errors from imperfect channel state information (CSI). Furthermore, device sampling for both schemes are optimized and differences in sampling optimization are analyzed. Numerical results verify the theoretical analysis and affirm the superior performance of the sampling optimization.

In this paper, we consider a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted multiple-input multiple-output communication system with multiple antennas at both the base station (BS) and the user. We plan to maximize the achievable rate through jointly optimizing the transmit precoding matrix, the receive combining matrix, and the RIS reflection matrix under the constraints of the transmit power at the BS and the unit-modulus reflection at the RIS. Regarding the non-trivial problem form, we initially reformulate it into an considerable problem to make it tractable by utilizing the relationship between the achievable rate and the weighted minimum mean squared error. Next, the transmit precoding matrix, the receive combining matrix, and the RIS reflection matrix are alternately optimized. In particular, the optimal transmit precoding matrix and receive combining matrix are obtained in closed forms. Furthermore, a pair of computationally efficient methods are proposed for the RIS reflection matrix, namely the semi-definite relaxation (SDR) method and the successive closed form (SCF) method. We theoretically prove that both methods are ensured to converge, and the SCF-based algorithm is able to converges to a Karush-Kuhn-Tucker point of the problem.

To ensure the reliability of the LHAASO-KM2A data, a three-level quality control system has been established. It is used to monitor the status of detector units, stability of reconstructed parameters and the performance of the array based on observations of the Crab Nebula and Moon shadow. This paper will introduce the control system and its application on the LHAASO-KM2A data collected from August 2021 to July 2023. During this period, the pointing and angular resolution of the array were stable. From the observations of the Moon shadow and Crab Nebula, the results achieved using the two methods are consistent with each other. According to the observation of the Crab Nebula at energies from 25 TeV to 100 TeV, the time averaged pointing errors are estimated to be $-0.003^{\circ} \pm 0.005^{\circ}$ and $0.001^{\circ} \pm 0.006^{\circ}$ in the R.A. and Dec directions, respectively.

Edge computing plays an essential role in the vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) networks, where vehicles offload their intensive computation tasks to the road-side units for saving energy and reduce the latency. This paper designs the optimal task offloading policy to address the concerns involving processing delay, energy consumption and edge computing cost. Each computation task consisting of some interdependent sub-tasks is characterized as a directed acyclic graph (DAG). In such dynamic networks, a novel hierarchical Offloading scheme is proposed by leveraging deep reinforcement learning (DRL). The inter-dependencies among the DAGs of the computation tasks are extracted using a graph neural network with attention mechanism. A parameterized DRL algorithm is developed to deal with the hierarchical action space containing both discrete and continuous actions. Simulation results with a real-world car speed dataset demonstrate that the proposed scheme can effectively reduce the system overhead.

The optical modules (OMs) of the High-Energy Underwater Neutrino Telescope (HUNT) have employed a brand new N6205 20-inch microchannel plate photomultiplier tube (MCP-PMT) developed by the North Night Vision Science & Technology (Nanjing) Research Institute Co. Ltd. (NNVT). In order to make the 20-inch PMT fit into the 23-inch diameter pressure-resistant glass sphere, NNVT improved the internal structure of PMT and shortened the height of PMT by more than 10~cm. The first batch of these PMTs has been delivered for preliminary research work. This paper describes a specific PMT testing platform built for the first batch of 15 MCP-PMTs, and some performance parameters of PMT, such as peak-to-valley ratio, TTS and nonliniearity, are measured. The measurement results show that the new PMT still has good performance and can meet the requirements of HUNT project.

In this paper a further detailed study of the spectral and temporal behavior of this point-like source have been carried. The best-fit position of the TeV source ($\rm{RA}=185.05^{\circ}\pm0.04^{\circ}$, $\rm{Dec}=29.25^{\circ}\pm0.03^{\circ}$) is compatible with NGC 4278 within $\sim0.03$ degree. Variation analysis shows an indication of the variability at a few months level in the TeV band, which is consistent with low frequency observations. Based on these observations, we report the detection of TeV $γ$-ray emissions from this low-luminosity AGN NGC 4278. The observations by LHAASO-WCDA during active period has a significance level of 8.8\,$σ$ with best-fit photon spectral index $\varGamma=2.56\pm0.14$ and a flux $f_{1-10\,\rm{TeV}}=(7.0\pm1.1_{\rm{sta}}\pm0.35_{\rm{syst}})\times10^{-13}\,\rm{photons\,cm^{-2}\,s^{-1}}$, or approximately $5\%$ of the Crab Nebula. The exploration of extremely large antenna arrays (ELAAs) using high-frequency spectrum has led to a paradigm shift in electromagnetic radiation field, transitioning from the common use case of far-field propagation to near-field propagation. This shift necessitates the modification of the conventional planar-wavefront approximation to more accurate spherical waves, exerting a profound impact on wireless transmission technologies encompassing communication and sensing. Concurrently, integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) has gained prominence in the context of the sixth-generation (6G) wireless networks owing to its ability to cater to the ever-increasing demands of future networks. In line with this evolving trend, this article presents a systematical investigation on ELAA-empowered near-field ISAC. We begin by introducing the fundamentals of near-field propagation with an emphasis on its double-edged effects to near-field communications. Then, we turn to near-field sensing and expound upon various typical applications. Following the separate elaborations on communications and sensing, we articulate in-depth advantages of ELAA-empowered ISAC in near field, particularly including featured opportunities arising from the dual-functional integrations, potential ISAC applications benefiting from the additional degrees-of-freedom in near field, and enablements of other complementary technologies. Finally, we outline key technical challenges that merit further exploration in the realm of ELAA-empowered near-field ISAC.

Combining millimetre-wave (mmWave) communications with an extremely large-scale antenna array (ELAA) presents a promising avenue for meeting the spectral efficiency demands of the future sixth generation (6G) mobile communications. However, beam training for mmWave ELAA systems is challenged by excessive pilot overheads as well as insufficient accuracy, as the huge near-field codebook has to be accounted for. In this paper, inspired by the similarity between far-field sub-6 GHz channels and near-field mmWave channels, we propose to leverage sub-6 GHz uplink pilot signals to directly estimate the optimal near-field mmWave codeword, which aims to reduce pilot overhead and bypass the channel estimation. Moreover, we adopt deep learning to perform this dual mapping function, i.e., sub-6 GHz to mmWave, far-field to near-field, and a novel neural network structure called NMBEnet is designed to enhance the precision of beam training. Specifically, when considering the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication scenarios with high user density, correlations arise both between signals from different users and between signals from different subcarriers. Accordingly, the convolutional neural network (CNN) module and graph neural network (GNN) module included in the proposed NMBEnet can leverage these two correlations to further enhance the precision of beam training.

A recently proposed soft-input soft-output decoder for polar-like codes enables effective iterative belief propagation decoding for GLDPC-PC, ensuring a low error floor under additive white Gaussian noise channels. As a crucial technique to enhance the reliability and efficiency of data transmission, the next generation channel coding is not only required to satisfy the stringent requirements of 6G, but also expected to be backward compatible to avoid imposing additional burden on the crowded baseband chip. This article provides an overview of the potential channel codes for 6G communications. In addition, we explore to develop next-generation channel codes based on low-density parity-check (LDPC) and polar frameworks, introducing a novel concept called generalized LDPC with polar-like component (GLDPC-PC) codes. Generative Zero-shot learning (ZSL) learns a generator to synthesize visual samples for unseen classes, which is an effective way to advance ZSL. However, existing generative methods rely on the conditions of Gaussian noise and the predefined semantic prototype, which limit the generator only optimized on specific seen classes rather than characterizing each visual instance, resulting in poor generalizations (\textit{e.g.}, overfitting to seen classes). To address this issue, we propose a novel Visual-Augmented Dynamic Semantic prototype method (termed VADS) to boost the generator to learn accurate semantic-visual mapping by fully exploiting the visual-augmented knowledge into semantic conditions. In detail, VADS consists of two modules: (1) Visual-aware Domain Knowledge Learning module (VDKL) learns the local bias and global prior of the visual features (referred to as domain visual knowledge), which replace pure Gaussian noise to provide richer prior noise information; (2) Vision-Oriented Semantic Updation module (VOSU) updates the semantic prototype according to the visual representations of the samples. Ultimately, we concatenate their output as a dynamic semantic prototype, which serves as the condition of the generator. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our VADS achieves superior CZSL and GZSL performances on three prominent datasets and outperforms other state-of-the-art methods with averaging increases by 6.4\%, 5.9\% and 4.2\% on SUN, CUB and AWA2, respectively.

Intelligent communications have played a pivotal role in shaping the evolution of 6G networks. Native artificial intelligence (AI) within green communication systems must meet stringent real-time requirements. To achieve this, deploying lightweight and resource-efficient AI models is necessary. However, as wireless networks generate a multitude of data fields and indicators during operation, only a fraction of them imposes significant impact on the network AI models. Therefore, real-time intelligence of communication systems heavily relies on a small but critical set of the data that profoundly influences the performance of network AI models. These challenges underscore the need for innovative architectures and solutions. In this paper, we propose a solution, termed the pervasive multi-level (PML) native AI architecture, which integrates the concept of knowledge graph (KG) into the intelligent operational manipulations of mobile networks, resulting in the establishment of a wireless data KG. Leveraging the wireless data KG, we characterize the massive and complex data collected from wireless communication networks and analyze the relationships among various data fields. The obtained graph of data field relations enables the on-demand generation of minimal and effective datasets, referred to as feature datasets, tailored to specific application requirements. Consequently, this architecture not only enhances AI training, inference, and validation processes but also significantly reduces resource wastage and overhead for communication networks. To implement this architecture, we have developed a specific solution comprising a spatio-temporal heterogeneous graph attention neural network model (STREAM) as well as a feature dataset generation algorithm. Experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed architecture.

This paper investigates the integration of a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) into a secure multiuser massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system in the presence of transceiver hardware impairments (HWI), imperfect channel state information (CSI), and spatially correlated channels. We first introduce a linear minimum-mean-square error estimation algorithm for the aggregate channel by considering the impact of transceiver HWI and RIS phase-shift errors. Then, we derive a lower bound for the achievable ergodic secrecy rate in the presence of a multi-antenna eavesdropper when artificial noise (AN) is employed at the base station (BS). In addition, the obtained expressions of the ergodic secrecy rate are further simplified in some noteworthy special cases to obtain valuable insights. To counteract the effects of HWI, we present a power allocation optimization strategy between the confidential signals and AN, which admits a fixed-point equation solution. Our analysis reveals that a non-zero ergodic secrecy rate is preserved if the total transmit power decreases no faster than $1/N$, where $N$ is the number of RIS elements. Moreover, the ergodic secrecy rate grows logarithmically with the number of BS antennas $M$ and approaches a certain limit in the asymptotic regime $N\rightarrow\infty$. Simulation results are provided to verify the derived analytical results. They reveal the impact of key design parameters on the secrecy rate. It is shown that, with the proposed power allocation strategy, the secrecy rate loss due to HWI can be counteracted by increasing the number of low-cost RIS elements.

KM2A is one of the main sub-arrays of LHAASO, working on gamma ray astronomy and cosmic ray physics at energies above 10 TeV. Detector simulation is the important foundation for estimating detector performance and data analysis. It is a big challenge to simulate the KM2A detector in the framework of Geant4 due to the need to track numerous photons from a large number of detector units (>6000) with large altitude difference (30 m) and huge coverage (1.3 km^2). In this paper, the design of the KM2A simulation code G4KM2A based on Geant4 is introduced. The process of G4KM2A is optimized mainly in memory consumption to avoid memory overffow. Some simpliffcations are used to signiffcantly speed up the execution of G4KM2A. The running time is reduced by at least 30 times compared to full detector simulation. Such methods rely on large-scale labeled training samples for each object category to ensure accurate detection, but obtaining extensive annotated data is a labor-intensive and expensive process in many real-world scenarios. This paper investigates the network-assisted full-duplex (NAFD) cell-free millimeter-wave (mmWave) networks, where the distribution of the transmitting access points (T-APs) and receiving access points (R-APs) across distinct geographical locations mitigates cross-link interference, facilitating the attainment of a truly flexible duplex mode. To curtail deployment expenses and power consumption for mmWave band operations, each AP incorporates a hybrid digital-analog structure encompassing precoder/combiner functions. However, this incorporation introduces processing intricacies within channel estimation and precoding/combining design. In this paper, we first present a hybrid multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) processing framework and derive explicit expressions for both uplink and downlink achievable rates. Then we formulate a power allocation problem to maximize the weighted bidirectional sum rates. To tackle this non-convex problem, we develop a collaborative multi-agent deep reinforcement learning (MADRL) algorithm called multi-agent twin delayed deep deterministic policy gradient (MATD3) for NAFD cell-free mmWave networks. Specifically, given the tightly coupled nature of both uplink and downlink power coefficients in NAFD cell-free mmWave networks, the MATD3 algorithm resolves such coupled conflicts through an interactive learning process between agents and the environment. Finally, the simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed channel estimation methods within our hybrid MIMO processing paradigm, and demonstrate that our MATD3 algorithm outperforms both multi-agent deep deterministic policy gradient (MADDPG) and conventional power allocation strategies.

This paper proposes a novel localization algorithm using the reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) received signal, i.e., RIS information. Compared with BS received signal, i.e., BS information, RIS information offers higher dimension and richer feature set, thereby providing an enhanced capacity to distinguish positions of the mobile users (MUs). Additionally, we address a practical scenario where RIS contains some unknown (number and places) faulty elements that cannot receive signals. Initially, we employ transfer learning to design a two-phase transfer learning (TPTL) algorithm, designed for accurate detection of faulty elements. Then our objective is to regain the information lost from the faulty elements and reconstruct the complete high-dimensional RIS information for localization. To this end, we propose a transfer-enhanced dual-stage (TEDS) algorithm. In \emph{Stage I}, we integrate the CNN and variational autoencoder (VAE) to obtain the RIS information, which in \emph{Stage II}, is input to the transferred DenseNet 121 to estimate the location of the MU. To gain more insight, we propose an alternative algorithm named transfer-enhanced direct fingerprint (TEDF) algorithm which only requires the BS information. The comparison between TEDS and TEDF reveals the effectiveness of faulty element detection and the benefits of utilizing the high-dimensional RIS information for localization. Besides, our empirical results demonstrate that the performance of the localization algorithm is dominated by the high-dimensional RIS information and is robust to unoptimized phase shifts and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

In this paper, we consider the physical layer security of an RIS-assisted multiple-antenna communication system with randomly located eavesdroppers. The exact distributions of the received signal-to-noise-ratios (SNRs) at the legitimate user and the eavesdroppers located according to a Poisson point process (PPP) are derived, and a closed-form expression for the secrecy outage probability (SOP) is obtained. It is revealed that the secrecy performance is mainly affected by the number of RIS reflecting elements, and the impact of the transmit antennas and transmit power at the base station is marginal. In addition, when the locations of the randomly located eavesdroppers are unknown, deploying the RIS closer to the legitimate user rather than to the base station is shown to be more efficient. We also perform an analytical study demonstrating that the secrecy diversity order depends on the path loss exponent of the RIS-to-ground links. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted to verify the accuracy of these theoretical observations.

Double neutron star (DNS) systems offer excellent opportunities to test gravity theories. We report the timing results of PSR J1901+0658, the first pulsar discovered in the FAST Galactic Plane Pulsar Snapshot (GPPS) Survey. Based on timing observations by FAST over 5 yr, we obtain the phase-coherent timing solutions and derive the precise measurements of its position, spin parameters, orbital parameters, and dispersion measure. It has a period of 75.7 ms, a period derivative of 2.169(6)$\times 10^{-19}$ s s$^{-1}$, and a characteristic age of 5.5 Gyr. This pulsar is in an orbit with a period of 14.45 d and an eccentricity of 0.366. One post-Keplerian parameter, periastron advance, has been well-measured as being 0.00531(9) deg yr$^{-1}$, from which the total mass of this system is derived to be 2.79(7) M$_{\odot}$. The pulsar has the mass upper limit of 1.68 M$_{\odot}$, so the lower limit for the companion mass is 1.11 M$_{\odot}$. Because PSR J1901+0658 is a partially recycled pulsar in an eccentric binary orbit with such a large companion mass, it should be in a DNS system according to the evolution history of the binary system.

We present the measurements of all-particle energy spectrum and mean logarithmic mass of cosmic rays in the energy range of 0.3-30 PeV using data collected from LHAASO-KM2A between September 2021 and December 2022, which is based on a nearly composition-independent energy reconstruction method, achieving unprecedented accuracy. Our analysis reveals the position of the knee at $3.67 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.15$ PeV. Below the knee, the spectral index is found to be -$2.7413 \pm 0.0004 \pm 0.0050$, while above the knee, it is -$3.128 \pm 0.005 \pm 0.027$, with the sharpness of the transition measured with a statistical error of 2%. The mean logarithmic mass of cosmic rays is almost heavier than helium in the whole measured energy range. It decreases from 1.7 at 0.3 PeV to 1.3 at 3 PeV, representing a 24% decline following a power law with an index of -$0.1200 \pm 0.0003 \pm 0.0341$. This is equivalent to an increase in abundance of light components. Above the knee, the mean logarithmic mass exhibits a power law trend towards heavier components, which is reversal to the behavior observed in the all-particle energy spectrum. Additionally, the knee position and the change in power-law index are approximately the same. These findings suggest that the knee observed in the all-particle spectrum corresponds to the knee of the light component, rather than the medium-heavy components.

However, there are several challenges posed when performing SC in 3D scenarios: 1) 3D semantic extraction; 2) Latent semantic redundancy; and 3) Uncertain channel estimation. To address these issues, we propose a Generative AI Model assisted 3D SC (GAM-3DSC) system. Firstly, we introduce a 3D Semantic Extractor (3DSE), which employs generative AI models, including Segment Anything Model (SAM) and Neural Radiance Field (NeRF), to extract key semantics from a 3D scenario based on user requirements. The extracted 3D semantics are represented as multi-perspective images of the goal-oriented 3D object. Then, we present an Adaptive Semantic Compression Model (ASCM) for encoding these multi-perspective images, in which we use a semantic encoder with two output heads to perform semantic encoding and mask redundant semantics in the latent semantic space, respectively. Next, we design a conditional Generative adversarial network and Diffusion model aided-Channel Estimation (GDCE) to estimate and refine the Channel State Information (CSI) of physical channels. Finally, simulation results demonstrate the advantages of the proposed GAM-3DSC system in effectively transmitting the goal-oriented 3D scenario.

The integration of sensing capabilities into communication systems, by sharing physical resources, has a significant potential for reducing spectrum, hardware, and energy costs while inspiring innovative applications. Cooperative networks, in particular, are expected to enhance sensing services by enlarging the coverage area and enriching sensing measurements, thus improving the service availability and accuracy. This paper proposes a cooperative integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) framework by leveraging information-bearing orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals transmitted by access points (APs). Specifically, we propose a two-stage scheme for target localization, where communication signals are reused as sensing reference signals based on the system information shared at the central processing unit (CPU). In Stage I, we propose a twodimensional fast Fourier transform (2D-FFT)-based algorithm to measure the ranges of scattered paths induced by targets, through the extraction of delay and Doppler information from the sensing channels between APs. Then, the target locations are estimated in Stage II based on these range measurements. Considering the potential occurrence of ill-conditioned measurements with large error during the extraction of time-frequency information, we propose an efficient algorithm to match the range measurements with the targets while eliminating ill-onditioned measurements, achieving high-accuracy target localization. In addition, based on the transmission configurations defined in the fifth generation (5G) standards, we elucidate the performance trade-offs in both communication and sensing, and extend the proposed sensing scheme for general scenarios. Finally, numerical results confirm the effectiveness of our sensing scheme and the cooperative gain of the ISAC framework.

Elasticity plays an important role in modern cloud computing systems. Elastic computing allows virtual machines (i.e., computing nodes) to be preempted when high-priority jobs arise, and also allows new virtual machines to participate in the computation. In 2018, Yang et al. introduced Coded Storage Elastic Computing (CSEC) to address the elasticity using coding technology, with lower storage and computation load requirements. However, CSEC is limited to certain types of computations (e.g., linear) due to the coded data storage based on linear coding. Then Centralized Uncoded Storage Elastic Computing (CUSEC) with heterogeneous computation speeds was proposed, which directly copies parts of data into the virtual machines. In all existing works in elastic computing, the storage assignment is centralized, meaning that the number and identity of all virtual machines possible used in the whole computation process are known during the storage assignment. In this paper, we consider Decentralized Uncoded Storage Elastic Computing (DUSEC) with heterogeneous computation speeds, where any available virtual machine can join the computation which is not predicted and thus coordination among different virtual machines' storage assignments is not allowed. Under a decentralized storage assignment originally proposed in coded caching by Maddah-Ali and Niesen, we propose a computing scheme with closed-form optimal computation time. We also run experiments over MNIST dataset with Softmax regression model through the Tencent cloud platform, and the experiment results demonstrate that the proposed DUSEC system approaches the state-of-art best storage assignment in the CUSEC system in computation time.

High-coherence superconducting cavities offer a hardware-efficient platform for quantum information processing. To achieve universal operations of these bosonic modes, the requisite nonlinearity is realized by coupling them to a transmon ancilla. However, this configuration is susceptible to crosstalk errors in the dispersive regime, where the ancilla frequency is Stark-shifted by the state of each coupled bosonic mode. This leads to a frequency mismatch of the ancilla drive, lowering the gate fidelities. To mitigate such coherent errors, we employ quantum optimal control to engineer ancilla pulses that are robust to the frequency shifts. These optimized pulses are subsequently integrated into a recently developed echoed conditional displacement (ECD) protocol for executing single- and two-mode operations. Through numerical simulations, we examine two representative scenarios: the preparation of single-mode Fock states in the presence of spectator modes and the generation of two-mode entangled Bell-cat states. Our approach markedly suppresses crosstalk errors, outperforming conventional ancilla control methods by orders of magnitude. These results provide guidance for experimentally achieving high-fidelity multimode operations and pave the way for developing high-performance bosonic quantum information processors.

Large language models (LLM) have recently attracted surging interest due to their outstanding capabilities across various domains. However, enabling efficient LLM inference is challenging due to its autoregressive decoding that generates tokens only one at a time. Although research works apply pruning or quantization to speed up LLM inference, they typically require fine-tuning the LLM, incurring significant time and economic costs. Meanwhile, speculative decoding has been proposed to use small speculative models (SSMs) to accelerate the inference of LLM. However, the low acceptance rate of SSM and the high verification cost of LLM prohibit further performance improvement of inference. In this paper, we propose Minions, an LLM inference system that accelerates LLM inference with a collective and adaptive speculative generation. Specifically, Minions proposes a majority-voted mechanism to leverage multiple SSMs to jointly speculate the outputs of LLM, which improves the inference performance without introducing prohibitive computation costs for LLM. To better trade off the number of tokens speculated from SSM and the verification cost of LLM, Minions proposes an adaptive mechanism to dynamically determine the optimal speculation length of SSM, which can achieve better inference performance across different models, datasets, and hyper-parameters. In addition, Minions decouples the SSM decoding and LLM verification efficiently and adopts a pipelined execution mechanism to further improve the inference performance of LLM. By comparing with the state-of-the-art LLM inference systems, we demonstrate that Minions can achieve higher inference throughput and lower inference time.

In this paper, we quantitatively compare these two effective communication schemes, i.e., digital and analog ones, for wireless federated learning (FL) over resource-constrained networks, highlighting their essential differences as well as their respective application scenarios. We first examine both digital and analog transmission methods, together with a unified and fair comparison scheme under practical constraints. A universal convergence analysis under various imperfections is established for FL performance evaluation in wireless networks. These analytical results reveal that the fundamental difference between the two paradigms lies in whether communication and computation are jointly designed or not. The digital schemes decouple the communication design from specific FL tasks, making it difficult to support simultaneous uplink transmission of massive devices with limited bandwidth. In contrast, the analog communication allows over-the-air computation (AirComp), thus achieving efficient spectrum utilization. However, computation-oriented analog transmission reduces power efficiency, and its performance is sensitive to computational errors. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted to verify these theoretical observations.

In this article, an XL-MIMO channel network (XLCNet) is developed to estimate the high-dimensional channel, which is a universal solution for both the near-field users and far-field users with different channel statistics. Furthermore, a compressed XLCNet (C-XLCNet) is designed via weight pruning and quantization to accelerate the model inference as well as to facilitate the model storage and transmission. Simulation results show the performance superiority and universality of XLCNet. We investigate the channel estimation for massive multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) systems. We revisit the information geometry approach (IGA) for massive MIMO-OFDM channel estimation. By using the constant magnitude property of the entries of the measurement matrix, we find that the second-order natural parameters of the distributions on all the auxiliary manifolds are equivalent to each other, and the first-order natural parameters are asymptotically equivalent to each other at the fixed point. Motivated by these results, we simplify the process of IGA and propose an efficient IGA (EIGA) for massive MIMO-OFDM channel estimation, which allows efficient implementation with fast Fourier transformation (FFT). We then establish a sufficient condition of its convergence and accordingly find a range of the damping factor for the convergence. We show that this range of damping factor is sufficiently wide by using the specific properties of the measurement matrices. Further, we prove that at the fixed point, the a posteriori mean obtained by EIGA is asymptotically optimal. Simulations confirm that EIGA can achieve the optimal performance with low complexity in a limited number of iterations.

Precise boundary segmentation of volumetric images is a critical task for image-guided diagnosis and computer-assisted intervention, especially for boundary confusion in clinical practice. However, U-shape networks cannot effectively resolve this challenge due to the lack of boundary shape constraints. Besides, existing methods of refining boundaries overemphasize the slender structure, which results in the overfitting phenomenon due to networks' limited abilities to model tiny objects. In this paper, we reconceptualize the mechanism of boundary generation by encompassing the interaction dynamics with adjacent regions. Moreover, we propose a unified network termed PnPNet to model shape characteristics of the confused boundary region. Core ingredients of PnPNet contain the pushing and pulling branches. Specifically, based on diffusion theory, we devise the semantic difference module (SDM) from the pushing branch to squeeze the boundary region. Explicit and implicit differential information inside SDM significantly boost representation abilities for inter-class boundaries. Additionally, motivated by the K-means algorithm, the class clustering module (CCM) from the pulling branch is introduced to stretch the intersected boundary region. Thus, pushing and pulling branches will shrink and enlarge the boundary uncertainty respectively. They furnish two adversarial forces to promote models to output a more precise delineation of boundaries. We carry out experiments on three challenging public datasets and one in-house dataset, containing three types of boundary confusion in model predictions. Experimental results demonstrate the superiority of PnPNet over other segmentation networks, especially on evaluation metrics of HD and ASSD. Besides, pushing and pulling branches can serve as plug-and-play modules to enhance classic U-shape baseline models. Codes are available.

Shape modeling of volumetric data is essential for medical image analysis and computer-aided intervention. In practice, automated shape reconstruction cannot always achieve satisfactory results due to limited image resolution and a lack of sufficiently detailed shape priors used as constraints. In this paper, a unified framework is proposed for 3D shape modelling and segmentation refinement based on implicit neural networks. To learn a sharable shape prior from different instances within the same category during training, physical details of volumetric data are firstly used to construct Physical-Informed Continuous Coordinate Transform (PICCT) for implicit shape modeling. For improved shape representation, implicit shape constraints based on Signed Distance Function (SDF) are used for both instances and latent templates. For inference, a Template Interaction Module (TIM) is proposed to refine 3D shapes produced by Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) via deforming deep implicit templates with latent codes. Experimental results on validation datasets involving liver, pancreas and lung segmentation demonstrate the superiority of our approach in shape refinement and reconstruction. Designing an autonomous precise controller for ships requires accurate and reliable ship models, including the ship dynamic model and actuator model. However, selecting a suitable model for controller design and determining its parameters pose a significant challenge, considering factors such as ship actuation, input constraints, environmental disturbances, and others. This challenge is further amplified for underactuated ships, as obtaining decoupled experiment data is not feasible, and the limited data available may not adequately represent the motion characteristics of ships. To address this issue, we propose a novel model-based parameter estimation approach, called MBPE-LOGO, for underactuated ship motion models. This method combines local optimization and global optimization methods to solve the model identification problem using a dataset generated from real experiments. However, channel estimation for XL-MIMO is challenging since the large number of antennas results in high computational complexity with the near-field effect. Specifically, we first successfully decouple the angle and distance parameters, which allows us to devise a two-dimensional discrete Fourier transform (2D-DFT) method for angle parameters estimation.
