Due to the scarcity of annotated data in the medical domain, few-shot learning may be useful for medical image analysis tasks. We design a few-shot learning method using an ensemble of random subspaces for the diagnosis of chest x-rays (CXRs). Our design is computationally efficient and almost 1.8 times faster than method that uses the popular truncated singular value decomposition (t-SVD) for subspace decomposition. The proposed method is trained by minimizing a novel loss function that helps create well-separated clusters of training data in discriminative subspaces. As a result, minimizing the loss maximizes the distance between the subspaces, making them discriminative and assisting in better classification. Experiments on large-scale publicly available CXR datasets yield promising results. Code for the project will be available at https://github.com/Few-shot-Learning-on-chest-x-ray/fsl_subspace.

The serverless platform allows a customer to effectively use cloud resources and pay for the exact amount of used resources. A number of dedicated open source and commercial cloud data management tools are available to handle the massive amount of data. Such modern cloud data management tools are not enough matured to integrate the generic cloud application with the serverless platform due to the lack of mature and stable standards. One of the most popular and mature standards, TOSCA (Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Applications), mainly focuses on application and service portability and automated management of the generic cloud application components. This paper proposes the extension of the TOSCA standard, TOSCAdata, that focuses on the modeling of data pipeline-based cloud applications. Keeping the requirements of modern data pipeline cloud applications, TOSCAdata provides a number of TOSCA models that are independently deployable, schedulable, scalable, and re-usable, while effectively handling the flow and transformation of data in a pipeline manner. We also demonstrate the applicability of proposed TOSCAdata models by taking a web-based cloud application in the context of tourism promotion as a use case scenario.

To improve patient survival and treatment outcomes, early diagnosis of brain tumors is an essential task. It is a difficult task to evaluate the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images manually. Thus, there is a need for digital methods for tumor diagnosis with better accuracy. However, it is still a very challenging task in assessing their shape, volume, boundaries, tumor detection, size, segmentation, and classification. In this proposed work, we propose a hybrid ensemble method using Random Forest (RF), K-Nearest Neighbour, and Decision Tree (DT) (KNN-RF-DT) based on Majority Voting Method. It aims to calculate the area of the tumor region and classify brain tumors as benign and malignant. In the beginning, segmentation is done by using Otsu's Threshold method. Feature Extraction is done by using Stationary Wavelet Transform (SWT), Principle Component Analysis (PCA), and Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM), which gives thirteen features for classification. The classification is done by hybrid ensemble classifier (KNN-RF-DT) based on the Majority Voting method. Overall it aimed at improving the performance by traditional classifiers instead of going to deep learning. Traditional classifiers have an advantage over deep learning algorithms because they require small datasets for training and have low computational time complexity, low cost to the users, and can be easily adopted by less skilled people. Overall, our proposed method is tested upon dataset of 2556 images, which are used in 85:15 for training and testing respectively and gives good accuracy of 97.305%.

The agriculture sector is essential for every country because it provides a basic income to a large number of people and food as well, which is a fundamental requirement to survive on this planet. We see as time passes, significant changes come in the present era, which begins with Green Revolution. Due to improper knowledge of plant diseases, farmers use fertilizers in excess, which ultimately degrade the quality of food. Earlier farmers use experts to determine the type of plant disease, which was expensive and time-consuming. In today time, Image processing is used to recognize and catalog plant diseases using the lesion region of plant leaf, and there are different modus-operandi for plant disease scent from leaf using Neural Networks (NN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and others. In this paper, we improving the architecture of the Neural Networking by working on ten different types of training algorithms and the proper choice of neurons in the concealed layer. Our proposed approach gives 98.30% accuracy on general plant leaf disease and 100% accuracy on specific plant leaf disease based on Bayesian regularization, automation of cluster and without over-fitting on considered plant diseases over various other implemented methods.

There are many challenges in the classification of hyper spectral images such as large dimensionality, scarcity of labeled data and spatial variability of spectral signatures. In this proposed method, we make a hybrid classifier (MLP-SVM) using multilayer perceptron (MLP) and support vector machine (SVM) which aimed to improve the various classification parameters such as accuracy, precision, recall, f-score and to predict the region without ground truth. In proposed method, outputs from the last hidden layer of the neural net-ork become the input to the SVM, which finally classifies into various desired classes. In the present study, we worked on Indian Pines, U. Pavia and Salinas dataset with 16, 9, 16 classes and 200, 103 and 204 reflectance bands respectively, which is provided by AVIRIS and ROSIS sensor of NASA Jet propulsion laboratory. The proposed method significantly increases the accuracy on testing dataset to 93.22%, 96.87%, 93.81% as compare to 86.97%, 88.58%, 88.85% and 91.61%, 96.20%, 90.68% based on individual classifiers SVM and MLP on Indian Pines, U. Pavia and Salinas datasets respectively.

Hand gestures form an intuitive means of interaction in Mixed Reality (MR) applications. However, accurate gesture recognition can be achieved only through state-of-the-art deep learning models or with the use of expensive sensors. Despite the robustness of these deep learning models, they are generally computationally expensive and obtaining real-time performance on-device is still a challenge. To this end, we propose a novel lightweight hand gesture recognition framework that works in First Person View for wearable devices. The models are trained on a GPU machine and ported on an Android smartphone for its use with frugal wearable devices such as the Google Cardboard and VR Box. The proposed hand gesture recognition framework is driven by a cascade of state-of-the-art deep learning models: MobileNetV2 for hand localisation, our custom fingertip regression architecture followed by a Bi-LSTM model for gesture classification. We extensively evaluate the framework on our EgoGestAR dataset. The overall framework works in real-time on mobile devices and achieves a classification accuracy of 80% on EgoGestAR video dataset with an average latency of only 0.12 s.

Nine new 2-D OOCs are presented here, all sharing the common feature of a code size that is much larger in relation to the number of time slots than those of constructions appearing previously in the literature. Each of these constructions is either optimal or asymptotically optimal with respect to either the original Johnson bound or else a non-binary version of the Johnson bound introduced in this paper.
The first 5 codes are constructed using polynomials over finite fields - the first construction is optimal while the remaining 4 are asymptotically optimal. The next two codes are constructed using rational functions in place of polynomials and these are asymptotically optimal. The last two codes, also asymptotically optimal, are constructed by composing two of the above codes with a constant weight binary code.
Also presented, is a three-dimensional OOC that exploits the polarization dimension.
Finally, phase-encoded optical CDMA is considered and construction of two efficient codes are provided.
