Video games are one of the richest and most popular forms of human-computer interaction and, hence, their role is critical for our understanding of human behaviour and affect at a large scale. As artificial intelligence (AI) tools are gradually adopted by the game industry a series of ethical concerns arise. Such concerns, however, have so far not been extensively discussed in a video game context. Motivated by the lack of a comprehensive review of the ethics of AI as applied to games, we survey the current state of the art in this area and discuss ethical considerations of these systems from the holistic perspective of the affective loop. Through the components of this loop, we study the ethical challenges that AI faces in video game development. Elicitation highlights the ethical boundaries of artificially induced emotions; sensing showcases the trade-off between privacy and safe gaming spaces; and detection, as utilised during in-game adaptation, poses challenges to transparency and ownership. This paper calls for an open dialogue and action for the games of today and the virtual spaces of the future. By setting an appropriate framework we aim to protect users and to guide developers towards safer and better experiences for their customers.

We report on an inversion tool for a class of oriented conditional constructor term rewriting systems. We illustrate the inversion by experiments with full and partial inversions of the Ackermann function. The case study demonstrates, among others, that polyvariant inversion and input-output set propagation can reduce the search space of the generated inverse systems.

ESA operates the Sentinel-1 satellites, which provides Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data of Earth. Recorded Sentinel-1 data have shown a potential for remotely observing and monitoring local conditions on broad acre fields. Remote sensing using Sentinel-1 have the potential to provide daily updates on the current conditions in the individual fields and at the same time give an overview of the agricultural areas in the region. Research depends on the ability of independent validation of the presented results. In the case of the Sentinel-1 satellites, every researcher has access to the same base dataset, and therefore independent validation is possible. Well documented research performed with Sentinel-1 allow other research the ability to redo the experiments and either validate or falsify presented findings. Based on current state-of-art research we have chosen to provide a service for researchers in the agricultural domain. The service allows researchers the ability to monitor local conditions by using the Sentinel-1 information combined with a priori knowledge from broad acre fields. Correlating processed Sentinel-1 to the actual conditions is still a task the individual researchers must perform to benefit from the service. In this paper, we presented our methodology in translating sentinel-1 data to a level that is more accessible to researchers in the agricultural field. The goal here was to make the data more easily available, so the primary focus can be on correlating and comparing to measurements collected in the broadacre fields. We illustrate the value of the service with three examples of the possible application areas. The presented application examples are all based on Denmark, where we have processed all sentinel-1 scan from since 2016.

Threshold games and cooperation on multiplayer graphs

Objective: The study investigates the effect on cooperation in multiplayer games, when the population from which all individuals are drawn is structured - i.e. when a given individual is only competing with a small subset of the entire population.
Method: To optimize the focus on multiplayer effects, a class of games were chosen for which the payoff depends nonlinearly on the number of cooperators - this ensures that the game cannot be represented as a sum of pair-wise interactions, and increases the likelihood of observing behaviour different from that seen in two-player games. The chosen class of games are named "threshold games", and are defined by a threshold, $M > 0$, which describes the minimal number of cooperators in a given match required for all the participants to receive a benefit. The model was studied primarily through numerical simulations of large populations of individuals, each with interaction neighbourhoods described by various classes of networks.
Results: When comparing the level of cooperation in a structured population to the mean-field model, we find that most types of structure lead to a decrease in cooperation. This is both interesting and novel, simply due to the generality and breadth of relevance of the model - it is likely that any model with similar payoff structure exhibits related behaviour.
More importantly, we find that the details of the behaviour depends to a large extent on the size of the immediate neighbourhoods of the individuals, as dictated by the network structure. In effect, the players behave as if they are part of a much smaller, fully mixed, population, which we suggest an expression for.
