Despite Portuguese being one of the most spoken languages in the world, there is a lack of high-quality information retrieval datasets in that language. We present Quati, a dataset specifically designed for the Brazilian Portuguese language. It comprises a collection of queries formulated by native speakers and a curated set of documents sourced from a selection of high-quality Brazilian Portuguese websites. These websites are frequented more likely by real users compared to those randomly scraped, ensuring a more representative and relevant corpus. To label the query-document pairs, we use a state-of-the-art LLM, which shows inter-annotator agreement levels comparable to human performance in our assessments. We provide a detailed description of our annotation methodology to enable others to create similar datasets for other languages, providing a cost-effective way of creating high-quality IR datasets with an arbitrary number of labeled documents per query. Finally, we evaluate a diverse range of open-source and commercial retrievers to serve as baseline systems. We explore confidential computing in the context of CBDCs using Microsoft's CCF framework as an example. By developing an experiment and comparing different approaches and performance and security metrics, we seek to evaluate the effectiveness of confidential computing to improve the privacy, security, and performance of CBDCs. Preliminary results suggest that confidential computing could be a promising solution to the technological challenges faced by CBDCs. Furthermore, by implementing confidential computing in DLTs such as Hyperledger Besu and utilizing frameworks such as CCF, we increase transaction confidentiality and privacy while maintaining the scalability and interoperability required for a global digital financial system. In conclusion, confidential computing can significantly bolster CBDC development, fostering a secure, private, and efficient financial future.

Exploramos o uso da computação confidencial no contexto das CBDCs utilizando o framework CCF da Microsoft como exemplo. Via desenvolvimento de experimentos e comparação de diferentes abordagens e métricas de desempenho e segurança, buscamos avaliar a eficácia da computação confidencial para melhorar a privacidade, segurança e desempenho das CBDCs. Resultados preliminares sugerem que a computação confidencial pode ser uma solução promissora para os desafios tecnológicos enfrentados pelas CBDCs. Ao implementar a computação confidencial em DLTs, como o Hyperledger Besu, e utilizar frameworks como o CCF, aumentamos a confidencialidade e a privacidade das transações, mantendo a escalabilidade e a interoperabilidade necessárias para um sistema financeiro global e digital. Em conclusão, a computação confidencial pode reforçar significativamente o desenvolvimento do CBDC, promovendo um futuro financeiro seguro, privado e eficiente.

Most modern software systems (operating systems like Linux or Android, Web browsers like Firefox or Chrome, video encoders like ffmpeg, x264 or VLC, mobile and cloud applications, etc.) are highly-configurable. Hundreds of configuration options, features, or plugins can be combined, each potentially with distinct functionality and effects on execution time, security, energy consumption, etc. Due to the combinatorial explosion and the cost of executing software, it is quickly impossible to exhaustively explore the whole configuration space. Hence, numerous works have investigated the idea of learning it from a small sample of configurations' measurements. The pattern "sampling, measuring, learning" has emerged in the literature, with several practical interests for both software developers and end-users of configurable systems. In this survey, we report on the different application objectives (e.g., performance prediction, configuration optimization, constraint mining), use-cases, targeted software systems and application domains. We review the various strategies employed to gather a representative and cost-effective sample. We describe automated software techniques used to measure functional and non-functional properties of configurations. We classify machine learning algorithms and how they relate to the pursued application. Finally, we also describe how researchers evaluate the quality of the learning process. The findings from this systematic review show that the potential application objective is important; there are a vast number of case studies reported in the literature from the basis of several domains and software systems. Yet, the huge variant space of configurable systems is still challenging and calls to further investigate the synergies between artificial intelligence and software engineering.
