🚦𝗨𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 #𝗔𝗜-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗧𝗼 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆'𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆🌍 Traffic accidents cost society immensely each year in welfare losses, lost life years, hospital expenses, home care, rehabilitation, and sick leaves. In #TrafficManagement, precise signal control is essential to enhance #TrafficSafety and reduce collisions. Artificial intelligence (AI) can process a large amount of traffic data and, in recent years, has been applied in the development of signal control algorithms. It can now more or less "predict" the need for green time and optimise waiting times within the system's signal groups. 📊 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: e.g. extend the green light if two or more vehicles are within the selection zone at a speed where stopping or proceeding through an amber light is possible. This reduces rear-end collisions. 🚥 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀: Delay conflicting signal groups if the intersection area isn't cleared, reducing accident risks. "We are proud to be one of 5 selected partners, in competition with 25 other applications. With these research funds, SWARCO will further develop the #MobilitySolutions of the future. This will provide security for our customers, states Ørjan Hegg, CEO of SWARCO Norge. The project aims to further develop algorithms for evaluating and prioritizing traffic flow at road junctions by integrating AI and position data from vehicles (via CAM: Cooperative Awareness Messages) from the traffic. The project will measure the level of service at specific intersections and evaluate the traffic's cycle length, to reduce delays and stops for a better traffic flow.
