From spectators to stars! 🤩✈️   FLTLT Nick and FLTLT Slade are gearing up to make their childhood dreams come true. This Saturday, they’ll be flying our F/A-18F Super Hornet at Brisbane’s most iconic event – Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust putting on a display for the people of South East Queensland as well as their families and friends.   “Having grown up in South East Queensland, both Slade and I watched lots of Riverfire events over the years. As kids, we watched the famous F-111 dump and burn which would light up the Brisbane CBD," FLTLT Nick said. No. 2 Security Forces Squadron have started a physical and mental health wellbeing program focused on prevention and recovery called 'Combat Fit'. 💪 To officially launch the program a sports day and support services expo took place on the 21 August at RAAF Base Amberley. 2SECFOR SQN have set up a gym and a Combat Fit Centre with state-of-the-art equipment and dedicated physiotherapy support for members of their 'Combat Fit' program. "We want to share our initiative to give the wider Air Force community an understanding of our role and preparedness requirements," program co-creator FSGT Justin Janetzki said. "Our people are our capability. If sharing our program assists other units to support their personnel and helps them function more productively then the Air Force as a whole can be more effective." #AusAirForce aviators travelled to Guam in July to participate in Exercise Silver Flag and the Indo-Pacific Unity Allies and Partners Engineer Summit. 💪 Leading Aircraftman Ryan Wilson, a RAAF Plant Operator, attended the exercise. “During this event seven nations from the Indo-Pacific region and the @United States Air Force collaborated to perform crater repairs, utilizing a variety of heavy machinery, hand tools, and concrete mixtures. We also used a Dynamic Cone Penetration tool to measure the compaction of the craters.”  “I am excited about the prospect of collaborating on engineering developments that enhance our operational capabilities and strengthen our enduring partnerships,” he said. Flying high in the Pacific skies! 🌊✈️ Australia, Canada, the Philippines and the United States conducted a Maritime Cooperative Activity off the coast of Palawan and Northern Luzon and within the Philippines' Exclusive Economic Zone on 7-8 August 2024.   The activity included an #AusAirForce P-8A Poseidon Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Royal Canadian Navy vessel HMCS Montréal with its embarked helicopter, Philippine Navy vessels BRP Jose Rizal and BRP Ramon Alcarez with embarked helicopters and United States Navy vessel USS Lake Erie with its embarked helicopter. 📸 | SGT Sagi Biderman #AusAirForce #YourADF

Leading Aircraftwoman Jenny Phan’s job is unlike any other job. As an aircraft technician in the Air Force working on fast jets, she strives to achieve the Defence mission every day while being in a career she loves.    “I love fast jets and everything about it really fascinates me. Inspired by her grandfather's remarkable career, Leading Aircraftwoman Chloe Jackson-Brown has her sights set on flying fast jets! ✈️ Her grandad served for 24 years as a pilot in Air Force from 1966 to 1990. He was primarily a fast-jet pilot, but also flew fixed-wing aircraft and the Iroquois helicopter during the Vietnam War. He clocked an impressive 13,500 flying hours. “I would love to follow in my grandad’s footsteps as a fast-jet pilot in the Royal Australian Air Force, but I am also very interested in the P-8A Poseidon and its capability in maritime domain awareness,” LACW Jackson-Brown said. Her current role is in aircraft security, with 1 Security Forces Squadron. The squadron recently deployed to the Philippines supporting a P-8A Poseidon aircraft and crew who conducted a multilateral maritime cooperative activity alongside Canada, the Philippines and the United States.
