We are thrilled to welcome three new ACMI Board members as we bid farewell to three long-serving members. Our big thanks go to technology expert Karen Corry, screen practitioner Rachel Griffiths AM and plastic surgeon (and contemporary art advocate) Dr Terry Wu for their contributions to the ACMI Board since 2015 and their commitment to completing maximum Board terms. They each brought unique skills and talents to ACMI and had a significant impact on the museum's strategic direction. This month we welcome three new Board members: Matthew Everitt, proud Taungurung man of the Kulin from Central Victoria and co-founder of Dreamtime Art Consultancy; Gabrielle L., creative entrepreneur and experiential design expert who co-founded the escape room, Trapt; and Chris Wright, co-founder and managing director of games companies Fellow Traveller Games, Double Jump Communications and The Treasure Hunters Fanclub. Matthew, Gabrielle and Chris join our current Board members - Janet Matton AM (Board President), Ian Forsyth, Alison Parker, Tea Uglow 🏳️⚧️ and Paul Wiegard - as they continue to guide ACMI on the journey to becoming a globally recognised hub for film, TV, videogames and screen-based art. More great news, NSW based game developers will be provided an opportunity to level up with Screen NSW’s new Digital Games Seed Development Program. Applications are open today – run don’t walk. As our CEO Ron says: “Today we are extremely excited to see the introduction of Screen NSW’s Digital Games Seed Development Program. This program will provide much needed support at the grassroots level and see the NSW Government recognise the whole game development ecosystem as an important cultural, economic and tech led industry. “Funding emerging and small-medium games creators signifies a commitment to nurturing local talent, fostering creativity, and positioning NSW game developers for success both domestically and on the international stage. “Screen NSW’s Digital Games Seed Development Program and the Digital Games Rebate will enable the NSW games development industry to create a pipeline of amazing projects, all of which are export ready, employing locals and creating a highly skilled workforce with enviable transferable skills.” https://lnkd.in/gS5hwSsZ

What an exciting morning! Screen Australia has announced the funding of 12 games through the Games Production Fund and 15 games through the Emerging Gamemakers Fund. A huge congratulations to all recipients. The 27 funded projects look fantastic and are a great testament to the unique and innovative Australian game development industry.
