A social enterprise finding the most sustainable solutions for hard-to-recycle office items - for a world without waste.
Über uns
Green Collect is a non-profit social enterprise dedicated to working for a sustainable environmental and social change. Established in 2005, Green Collect is one of Melbourne's leading innovators in the circular economy through resource recovery. . We work with businesses to achieve solutions for some of the trickiest waste problems, delivering the highest possible environmental outcomes for a wide range of discarded office resources or workplace waste. We choose to deal with 'hard to recycle' office items and create new solutions that keep harmful materials out of landfill by finding the best reuse, upcycling or recycling pathways. Items that can be reused are channelled through our two retail stores. Green Collect has been a pioneer in developing new approaches to the collection and processing of a wide range of office items including electronic waste, folders and other stationery items. A huge 44% of workplace waste still ends up in landfill, which equates to 1.7 tonnes per employer per year! We are committed to working with businesses to divert workplace waste from landfill through creating new processes and local solutions. The aim of all work generated is to provide social benefit through the creation of new employment and training outcomes for communities facing significant disadvantage. Supportive and flexible training programs deliver pathways for 'at risk' youth and people from refugee backgrounds. Employment and mentoring in Green Collect's business is provided to these target groups to enable sustainable change and social impact.

We were incredibly lucky to be visited by Irma del Mundo and Nidhi Isaac from Brandkind Community. We love to see how quickly visitors fall in love with our facilities and then get inspired by seeing our circular Braybrook store in action. We are big fans of Brandkind Community's values, as a social enterprise supporting other social enterprises and helping to strengthen connections through upscale branding. Engaging with like-minded organisations always leaves us feeling inspired and we can't wait to find more opportunities to welcome more people into our community. #SocialEnterprise #InnerWestMelbourne #CircularEconomy Sean Trewick Maddison Verduci

We are proud of the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions and the Victorian Government for funding upskilling opportunities in the circular economy and investing in the fast-growing green workforce. Being a work-integrated social enterprise, our priority is training our team with circular economy skills and generating long-term sustainable and social impact. It's encouraging that the Victorian Government has recognised the need for these skills and that more circular economy advocates are being created thanks to this package. https://lnkd.in/gcXBj4Yu

Four months ago I joined the Yaraville Traders Association. At my first meeting during my elevator pitch I mentioned that one of the main reasons I joined is that I’m passionate about creating vibrant main streets that locals feel connected to and celebrate their unique character and I’d love to see a fashion parade that celebrates and showcases our boutiques, reminding locals of the fashion goodness right here in their backyard. A parade that brings together those that sell new and those that sell preloved, as I truly think it’s time for new and preloved to be showcased on the stage together. Fast forward to today and I’m excited to announce the parade is now less than a month away taking place in the iconic Sun Theatre and tickets are now on sale. Featuring stores include: Green Collect, Frankie Say Relax, Niche Interiors, Uniting Op Shop, Village Idiom, Kith and Kin, Peep Optical and Lonni. Grab your tix and come and support local! https://lnkd.in/gKMCsjxj

While the apple might be rotten right to the core (thank you #CharliXCX) these discarded fruit boxes still have plenty of life in them, thanks to our commitment to upcycling and repurposing. ♻ Our Market Fruit-Box notebooks help to enable circular economy initiatives across our work. The notebook-creation process is also significant for generating social outcomes and employment opportunities. Every 10 notebooks made contributes to 1 hour of important sustainability work for our team while lengthening the lifespan of valuable resources. Green Collect was honoured to be involved in the recent Australian Furniture Association -AFA 2024 conference. Our co-founder and CEO Sally Quinn spoke on an inspiring panel facilitated by AFA CEO Patrizia Torelli on the topic of the future of the Australian furnishing industry, alongside experts Sasha Titchkosky, Samantha V., Tony Rogers, Hans van Schoonhoven and Karina Clarke. It was incredible to connect with so many industry leaders, including Ira Malhi from Sustainability Victoria, and address the growing needs for businesses to meet consumer and commercial demands for ethical and sustainable furnishing, with the shared vision of implementing a circular economy. #CircularEconomy #SocialEnterprise #FurnitureIndustry #FurnitureAustralia
