Nufarm acquires licence to Omega-3 Assets by Yield10 Nufarm has acquired the licence to omega-3 producing products and related herbicide and oil improvement technologies in camelina by Yield10. Nufarm CEO, Greg Hunt said, “Yield10 camelina assets and know-how in both omega-3 and bioenergy sectors have a unique fit with Nufarm’s Value Beyond Yield® and platform strategies. While the program still requires further development time and investment before achieving revenue, it offers a broadened portfolio of solutions for our customers both at the farm-gate and with end-use customers.” Yield10’s Camelina platform fits strategically with Nufarm’s Omega-3 platform providing EPA and DHA profiles and herbicide tolerance traits that are complementary to those present in Nufarm’s Omega-3 Canola. The potential to grow camelina as a winter cover crop also expands the possible growing period and regions for plant-based omega-3. Potential applications include nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals and aquafeed. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gXgciYNV

Nufarm CEO Greg Hunt says Australian Federal Budget support for low carbon liquid fuels is a win for farmers.   “Nufarm welcomes the Albanese Government’s support for the development of a low carbon liquid fuels industry in Australia. The Federal Budget’s funding and measures will encourage increased production and use of low carbon fuels, accelerate the economy’s decarbonisation, create new industries and jobs including for rural and regional areas,” Mr Hunt said.   “Australia’s globally competitive agriculture sector is well-placed to both drive and benefit from the energy transition. Australia has the natural resources and the agricultural capability to meet the growing demand for renewable feedstocks for use in low carbon liquid fuels without displacing food.   “Local farmers are already helping to decarbonise transport in Europe with most of Western Australia’s canola harvest exported there for use in biofuels. Australian Government support is essential to building local demand for low carbon liquid fuels so farmers have a well-functioning local market to sell their feedstocks.   “Decarbonising the liquid fuels we will use for decades to come is not a niche solution – it is a scalable, cost-effective way to quickly reduce emissions from hard-to-abate sectors such as transport, marine and aviation. It is also an opportunity to reduce Australia’s reliance on imported fuels and for farmers to diversify their income.   “Clear policy signals will also encourage renewable feedstock innovation and adoption. Increased demand for renewable fuels will help scale the production of emerging solutions such as Nufarm’s Carinata which is a non-food, sustainable lower carbon, oil feedstock for use as a drop-in replacement for fossil oils. Nufarm’s global partnership with bp will help meet rising demand by processing Nufarm Carinata into a drop-in biofuel that replaces fossil fuels for planes and heavy transport without the need to retrofit engines,” Mr Hunt said.   Jim Chalmers Murray Watt Ed Husic MP #renewablefuels #federalbudget
