We’re talkin’ ‘bout our generation as we go behind-the-scenes at some of our gas generation assets. Exploring how they support renewables entering the market, and meeting the people who run them. Uranquinty Power Station, located 15km southwest of Wagga Wagga in New South Wales, is one of Australia’s largest and most efficient gas-fired peaking power stations. With four open cycle gas turbines, it boasts a generation capacity of 692 megawatts. In this video, Plant Manager Harold takes us behind the scenes to show how he and his small team ensure the plant operates reliably every day to support Australia’s energy demand. #BTS #PowerStation #Uranquinty

Origin is one of Australia's leading energy companies, exploring, generating and delivering energy to over 4 million customer accounts. Our purpose – getting energy right for our customers, communities and planet – drives everything we do. As Australia's largest energy retailer, we have an important role to play in providing electricity, natural gas, solar and LPG to Australian communities and work every day to make energy more affordable, more sustainable, smarter and easier for our customers. We are committed to leading the transition to a cleaner energy future and believe our company, and the energy industry more broadly, should be at the forefront of action to reduce carbon emissions. Origin was the first Australian company to set an emissions reduction target endorsed by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) – aiming to halve our Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions by 2032, as we work towards achieving net zero emissions by 2050. Through the Origin Energy Foundation, we support programs that use education to help break the cycle of disadvantage and empower young Australians to reach their potential, contributing more than $27 million to support community organisations since 2010. We are extremely proud of the work of our Origin Energy Foundation, its partners and our volunteers supporting young people in education and communities around the country. Here is a wrap of FY24.
This year through our strategic review, we recommitted to providing holistic support to our partners through engaged philanthropy – the idea that there is more to bring to problem-solving than money alone. Our FY24 Annual Review, released today, demonstrates how we have applied this philosophy over the past 12 months to support our partners in tackling some of the biggest challenges in education. Read the full review here: https://lnkd.in/gdZuceTE Thank you to our partners, schools, teachers and Origin Energy volunteers for your important work and support. #OriginEnergyFoundation #AnnualReviewFY24 #EngagedPhilanthropy #Education

We’re talkin’ ‘bout our generation as we go behind-the-scenes at some of our gas generation assets. Exploring how they support renewables entering the market, and meeting the people who run them. Operational since 1999, Mt Stuart stands as North Queensland’s largest power station, designed to deliver electricity during peak times. A dedicated team of about five perform the daily operations and maintenance of the plant, which can generate up to 414 megawatts at full capacity. Join Plant Manager Ryley for a behind-the-scenes look at the daily operations and management that ensure the facility runs smoothly and reliably. #BTS #PowerStation #Townsville

As part of our commitment to supporting the communities we work in, members of our Marketing team recently assisted the Lighthouse Foundation through the Origin Energy Foundation's volunteering program. Lighthouse has homes across Melbourne, where young people at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness live alongside carers. Our dedicated crew chipped in to give one of these homes a thorough spring clean, both inside and out! #OriginEnergyFoundation #Volunteering #GivingBack

Construction of the 300 MW Mortlake battery is under way! It was great to mark the occasion with a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony led by Shane Harrison from Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation . We can’t wait to bring the battery at Mortlake Power Station online, which utilises existing transmission infrastructure and will enable us to support more renewable energy generation in the region. Head of Development and Construction Conal Mccullough talks about our vision for this project.

Just like athletes and dancers, our Major Maintenance Teams always start their day with a quick warm-up and stretch session. As Martin, our Major Maintenance HSE Advisor, explains, these 'body activation' routines not only help reduce the risk of injury but also foster a strong team culture. See our team in action at the Talinga Pipeline Compression Facility as they prepare to undertake essential maintenance on the site. #TeamCulture #SafetyFirst #BodyActivation
