We believe in equity in education – an Australia where your postcode does not determine your future potential, the opportunities available to you in life, or your ability to contribute to society. That's why our vision is of an Australia where education gives every child, regardless of background, greater choice for their future.

We're incredibly proud of students like Taylar from COBRAM SECONDARY COLLEGE who aspire to great heights and embody the future of our nation. Hear what she has to say about her TFA teachers—Dave Kelly, George Allen and Lucia Sergent.

This week, we took a delegation of our dedicated teachers, inspiring leaders, and two enthusiastic students from a partner school to Parliament House in Canberra in honour of our 15th anniversary. Over the last two days, our delegation met with a number of supportive MPs, senators, and ministers from right across the political spectrum, including Jason Clare MP, the Minister for Education. As Dev Tiwari, Assistant Principal at Katherine High School & TFA Alum (Cohort 2020), eloquently said: “Teach For Australia cultivates the moral purpose and an unrelenting focus on the belief that any student can achieve - you should never underestimate what a year seven student can put on paper. Katherine High School is a testament to this. TFA has been the engine room of transformation at the school, lowering suspension numbers and supporting more young people in class. We're now on path to have our largest ever graduating cohort of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.” We're indebted to all our teachers, leaders, and partner schools who have been a part of this journey – TFA Alumni, Dev Tiwari, Lachlan Yeates, Kvitka Becker, Rayanne Chebbou, Amy Blitvich, Will Lutwyche, Dan Carr, Ben Duggan, Amy Haywood, TFA Associate, Damien Viney and TFA partner school principal, Emma Walker from Lynwood Senior High School. The dedication and passion of our teachers and partner schools are the driving force behind our success and this delegation is just the tip of the iceberg. A special shout out to year 11 students, Angus and Taylar who are taught by a number of TFA Alumni at one of our long-term partner schools, COBRAM SECONDARY COLLEGE. Here’s to many more years of making an impact for educational equity! #TeachForAustralia #EducationEquity #15YearsofImpact Sam Birrell Patrick Gorman Marion Scrymgour Sam Lim MP Sarah Henderson Tania Lawrence Luke Gosling MP

Teach For Australia reposted this
A postcode shouldn’t determine the quality of education our kids receive. Last night we celebrated 15 years of Teach For Australia – a leadership program for teachers committed to closing the equity gap in our classrooms. Leaders and alumni like Dev Tiwari, Assistant Principal and Head of English at Katherine High School. Dev studied economics and law before being inspired to become a teacher because of the contrast in his educational experiences, first at a regional high school and then at a private school. And Kvitka Becker, English and Dance Teacher at Sanderson Middle School. Kvitka studied journalism and law - working at Legal Aid NT and in arts festivals – before being drawn to education because of its power to change lives for the better. Also need to give a shout-out to Will Lutwyche who did his placement at Tennant Creek High School, developing a Senior Indigenous Rights history program and junior literacy initiative.

We were delighted to celebrate our 15th anniversary at Parliament House at Canberra last night, marking 15 years of impact for educational equity. A special thank you to Luke Gosling MP, Member for Solomon, for hosting the event. It was an honour to have a delegation of TFA teachers, leaders and students join us, showcasing our achievements placing exceptional educators in schools serving communities experiencing disadvantage and those in regional, rural and remote areas. We were also privileged to hear from the Assistant Minister for Education, Senator the Hon. Anthony Chisholm and Shadow Minister for Education, Senator the Hon Sarah Henderson. Thank you for making our 15th celebration so special. Together we’re creating an Australia where education gives every child greater choice for their future. #15yearsofimpact #TFA15Years #EducationEquity

⭐️ 15 years of impact for educational equity⭐️ Teach For Australia was founded in 2009 with the belief that EVERY child deserves an education that gives them greater choice for their future. So, how have we done? We recruit and develop teachers – so we felt it’s only fitting we review our progress with a report card.
