The Madison Capaldi Research Fund (MCRF) dedicated to funding research into Necrotising Enterocolitis (NEC). NEC is a condition where the bowel becomes infected and inflamed due to poorly developed immune and digestive systems common in low birth weight and extremely premature babies. NEC is the 2nd highest killer after lung disease in premature babies.
The MCRF was established in 2004 in memory of Madison who died from this disease at 7 weeks. My involvement in this is to work with a small committee group to help with computer IT related support in order to continue in its fundraising efforts through a number of ways. I have been involved in this fundraiser since 2011.
