Record-breaking rainfall in Cox's Bazar district has triggered multiple landslides and flooding. BRAC’s Humanitarian Crisis Management Programme is partnering with local stakeholders and relocating high-risk and vulnerable families from landslide- and flood-prone areas, providing emergency support, including temporary shelters, water purification tablets, emergency shelter kits, and hot meals.

TikTok has contributed Tk. 1.2 crore (USD 100,000) towards flood response and rehabilitation efforts in Bangladesh, where more than 5.8 million people have been affected. With the support of the Government of Bangladesh and its partners, BRAC has been on the ground since the onset of the crisis and remains committed to helping families recover and rebuild. A new project titled “Otithi” has been launched by BRAC in collaboration with Bangladesh Tourism Board to promote community-based and eco-friendly tourism, with special focus on environmental conservation highlighting the rich local cultures of various regions across Bangladesh. By engaging local communities, the main goal of the “Otithi” project is to bring Bangladesh’s cultural diversity to the forefront, reconnect the urban generation with their roots, and showcase the lesser-known tourist destinations to both local and international visitors. On Saturday, 7th September 2024, the CSO Alliance Convening Committee and Advisory Committee members held a meeting at the BRAC Centre. In the meeting, it was decided to arrange a national consultation, including representatives from government bodies, civil society organizations, development partners, private sector stakeholders, academia, and youth groups, with the aim of formulating a strategic framework for NGOs to enhance their role in advocating for transparent governance, fostering inclusive economic growth, and building resilient community networks as part of the vision for Bangladesh 2.0. Chaired by Rasheda K. Choudhury, Convener of the CSO Alliance and Executive Director of CAMPE, the meeting brought together key stakeholders to reflect on the evolving responsibilities of CSOs and to address pressing challenges in the sector.
