At a joint reception at Farnborough International yesterday, ASD, the US Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), the Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies (SJAC), and ADS Group Ltd celebrated the signing of two landmark memoranda of understanding (MoUs) earlier this month. These agreements mark a significant step in global aerospace cooperation, with SJAC gaining representation on key committees and working groups, facilitating the exchange of technical information. The first MoU (between AIA, A4A, ASD and SJAC) advances the harmonisation of the S1000D standard, crucial for creating and managing technical publications in the aerospace and defence industries. The second MoU (between AIA, ASD and SJAC) focuses on the S-series IPS specifications, promoting a comprehensive approach to managing the lifecycle of aerospace products. Paul-Alexander Cramers, ASD’s Supply Chain & Services Manager, said: "By integrating the insights and capabilities of our Japanese partners, we are poised to enhance the robustness and applicability of the S-series specifications, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the global aerospace and defence industries." Zero-emission technologies, Global Navigation Satellite System, and sustainable aviation fuel  were on the agenda at the EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency Stakeholders Advisory Body (SAB) meeting this week. The meeting brought experts together for discussions on several crucial aviation topics – including Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) provision and reporting, zero-emission technologies, and also the implementation of Part-IS regulations. The meeting also explored plans to expand representation to include ground handling and drone operators, reflecting a commitment to facilitating dialogue between diverse stakeholders and EASA. ASD Senior Airworthiness Manager Stuart Anderson attended, and ASD is proud to represent the manufacturing sector on the SAB plenary as well as providing the Executive Secretariat. In a series of recent press interviews, the Chair of ASD’s Cyber Task Force, Giorgio Mosca (Leonardo) addressed critical aspects of the forthcoming European Union Cybersecurity Certification Scheme for Cloud Services (EUCS). Today, ASD has joined 110 European associations representing key RD&I stakeholders in a unified call urging the EU Institutions to significantly increase the current budget in view of European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP10) and to make pan-European collaborative research the cornerstone of FP10, answering industrial needs by excellence.
