#Connectivity will be front and centre in this upcoming mandate of the European Parliament and European Commission, as the EU seeks to relaunch its competitiveness. Yesterday our Policy Manager Xhoana S. joined the "Sustainability in Telecommunications & Space" event, organised by #HU24EU. Her main points: ⚡️ Making networks more efficient is a top priority for telcos. This can be achieved by migrating to very high-capacity, more energy-efficient networks. Increasing the share of energy from renewable sources to 100% and extending use of intelligent power-saving features can help. 📊 Energy use is tied to data traffic growth: let’s incentivise more efficient data transmission. 🗒️ Including networks in the taxonomy will support the twin transition. ⛓️ Achieving net zero requires the commitment of the entire value chain. ♻️ Circularity initiatives should be supported: only 40% of e-waste is recycled.

🇪🇺 Europe's industrial policy must fuel our ambition to lead the global tech race. We need sustainable, secure, and innovative #connectivity. Industry cooperation & funding for key technologies such as AI-ready cloud infrastructure, #OpenRAN, and subsea cables are essential steps to get there.   📲 Here are some initiatives that could support Europe's ambitions⬇️

Collaborative research, development & innovation are key to investing in Europe's competitiveness. Together with 109 🇪🇺 associations, we urge EU institutions to increase the budget for the upcoming European Framework Programme for #Research & #Innovation (#FP10) 👇

An ETNO Association delegation (Steven Tas, Lise Fuhr, Dr. Jakob Greiner & Alessandro Gropelli) visited Washington to strengthen the Transatlantic Dialogue last week.
