Yesterday, GCoM Board Members, co-Chairs and Global/Regional Ambassadors convened in person in Paris 🇫🇷, to engage in meaningful discussions towards tackling the climate crisis in our cities with innovative & data-driven solutions. Among other key topics that were discussed, participants exchanged views on: ➡️effective ways to combat climate disinformation & misinformation in an urban context ➡️inclusive climate action planning to address the needs of vulnerable and marginalized groups 🙏We are thankful to our Board Members who set the strategic direction and provide local & regionally specific perspectives, thus ensuring our work is truly city-led. 📷 © Sarah Bastin - C40 Cities

📢 A call to action on extreme heat! 🌡️ In response to the most pressing crisis of our time, United Nations' Secretary-General António Guterres issued yesterday a global call for action, urging for a prompt and concerted effort to enhance international cooperation to combat extreme heat in four key areas: ➡️Caring for the vulnerable ➡️Protecting workers ➡️Boosting resilience of economies and societies using data and science ➡️Limiting temperature rise to 1.5°C "Extreme heat is having an extreme impact on people and planet. The world must rise to the challenge of rising temperatures", António Guterres stressed. This call to action comes at a moment when, according to GCoM's latest Impact Report, there's a notable increase in adaptation assessments, with more than 18,000 hazards identified in risk and vulnerability assessments.
