Solvay CEO, Philippe Kehren appeared this morning on CNBC to give an overview of our Q2 2024 results. “We are of course reducing our energy consumption continuously. What is very important for us is to do the energy transition, to move out of fossil fuels, to be less dependent on fossil fuel global markets that are extremely volatile. We also want to do this to secure competitiveness in the long term. We're excited to share our Q2 2024 results, highlighting the resilience and commitment of our team! We have achieved another strong quarter, especially when compared to our record high Q2 2023. Our results have been sequentially improving since Q4 2023, showcasing our expertise in seizing volume opportunities and our unwavering focus on cost and cash discipline. Despite a -6.7% organic decline in net sales year-over-year, we have seen positive volume impacts and continued improvement in fixed costs. Our strategic focus on cost-saving initiatives and disciplined financial management have been key drivers of our solid performance. Our resilient portfolio, serving multiple end-markets, has been key. While sectors like European construction and container glass remain soft, we've seen growth in solar panels and lithium carbonate. In our Performance Chemicals segment, favorable product mixes, such as in autocatalysis rare earth applications, have driven success. Looking ahead, we are tightening our guidance for underlying EBITDA to -10% to -15% organic growth, with upgraded Free Cash Flow expectations of over €300 million for 2024. This reflects our confidence in navigating the current market dynamics while accelerating investments in digitalization and future growth with Capex expected to be between €300 to €350 million for the full year.
