Eruption is a thriller so epic it took two literary legends to make it happen. It began in the hands of Jurassic Park author Michael Crichton, who tragically passed before its completion. Years later, James Patterson picked up where Crichton left off, with shatteringly suspenseful results. Hawaii’s Mauna Loa is set to blow, threatening an untold number of lives. But wait, it gets worse: Some past military monkey business could mean the whole world’s endangered if the volcano erupts. Scientists John MacGregor and Jenny Kimura are desperately racing the clock to save…well, everybody. You can’t see the stitches between the two authors’ work, and the story benefits from the blending of Crichton’s scientific knowledge and sense of humor with Patterson’s gift for heart-pounding action. Scott Brick narrates like a champion race driver, flooring it for the drama and expertly throttling back for the character development. Eruption is so cinematic that not only can you imagine seeing it made into a movie, but by the time it’s done, you feel like you already have.

Good not great
Very well researched. Scott brick is excellent as usual. But the ending was just so unbelievable.
Research and Due Diligence
I enjoyed the story. The author(s) clearly did their research and did their best to honor the language and culture of Hawaii. Unfortunately the reader did not.
Is this audiobook abridged?
I wish Apple would tell us when we purchased audio books if they are abridged or unabridged. Either this was abridged (I would not have purchased if I had known), or it has holes in the plot. I felt lost a few times along the way. Otherwise Crichton had a great concept.
