Advanced Glazings Ltd. (AGL) was founded in 1995 by Dr. Douglas Milburn and Michelle Milburn to develop, manufacture and market sustainable and commercially viable technologies related to sunlight. Sixteen years of product R&D, commercialization and market validation have brought Advanced Glazings Ltd. to a unique leadership position in daylighting technology. We work with architects, building owners and stakeholders offering expertise in daylight modeling (Radiance), insulation value, solar heat gain, and product make-up. Each project is unique and requires unique attention to details to determine the best possible product variant to enable them to create the building as well as occupant experience they are looking to achieve. We are proud to unveil the newly renovated Burnhamthorpe Recreation Centre in Mississauga, ON - a 43,000 sq ft expansion which enhances the existing community hub and introduces an indoor aquatic centre featuring a 25-meter, six-lane pool, aquatic climbing wall, and therapeutic pool. A state-of-the-art fitness centre, multipurpose rooms, and admin offices create vibrant, welcoming spaces; along with new viewing areas and improved connections to existing recreation and ice arenas. The project is paving the way for sustainable development, incorporating Mississauga’s Corporate Green Building Standards, achieving Level 1 CGBS, and embracing principles like net zero and passive house design. The presentation highlighted the differences between “dark box” and daylighted buildings and rooms, and the impact of daylight on our daily activities. Thanks to our presenter Shane Webb from Advanced Glazings Ltd for taking the time to visit the Vallee office and sharing this knowledge with us! At Vallee, we promote continuing education for all our professionals.
