You Can’t Be An Academic and a Good Surgeon I've heard this many times in the past. To explain, I was told that you can’t do research and be talented in the OR. Well, I’ve met many people over the years that have disproven this time and time again. As someone who admires both skills, I think this is one of those mindsets that has no future in orthopedics. Here is a great example of someone who is challenging that thinking. Dr. Robert Koucheki MD, MEng is one of University of Toronto's rising stars. A PGY-2 with a keen interest in arthroplasty/trauma has over 20 publications, 3 book chapters and now pursuing his PhD in biomaterials. Rob has also one of the most interesting studies using #virtualreality for medical students and anatomy education. For his surgical skills, Rob has been contributing to, and using PrecisionOS to augment his surgical training. Excelling at both academics and technical skill, Rob is a resident to watch. "PrecisionOS has greatly improved how we approach surgical education, for me particularly with modules focused on arthroplasty and trauma. These experiences allow me to practice and consolidate the steps of each procedure while also reinforcing key orthopedic principles. It's an invaluable tool for residents that prepares us for real-world cases and deepens our understanding."
