Rail operations are expected to resume immediately, but it may take several weeks for services to return to normal levels. On August 9th the Canadian Industrial Relations Board ruled in favor of the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) union authorizing a work stoppage, with no exceptions. The CIRB also ordered a 13-day extension of the cooling off period which ends on August 22nd. Negotiations between the railroads and the TCRC union will continue through the deadline. At which time, a work stoppage could begin if the parties fail to reach an agreement.
