Felt board does not have to have a low NRC rating! Acoustic performance is at the heart of everything Western Noise Control does. We know that clients like the aesthetic of felt board, but traditional 9mm and 12mm felt board have very low acoustic (NRC) ratings. Generally around 0.3 - 0.4. We knew that the market needed a felt board solution that also performs well acoustically. That is where Echofelt+ started. The + is a reflection of the added acoustic performance compared to a traditional felt board. The 1"/25mm option boasts a 0.7 NRC with Type A mounting. Consider this post education for designers and owners. We debated showing this picture from a recent installation, not because the project didn't turn out well, but because of all the challenges it took to have the project turn out well. This wall is printed on felt board. It is not a Western Noise Control product, but was purchased from another manufacturer. Because the entire boards were printed with a solid colour, we ran into colour consistency issues repeatedly. We ended up having to re-order entire walls of material to try and find boards to colour match. In the end, we are happy and the client is happy with the aesthetic, but a warning for owners and designers - solid printing a colour is a recipe for difficulties. It is not a problem with the particular manufacturer of this product. It is a problem with printing in general.
