Alliant Energy: Equipment issue to blame for 3,500+ without power Friday evening

Power has now been restored to more than 3,500 households that lost power on Friday evening.

According to Alliant Energy's outage map, 3,634 customers in Cedar Rapids were without power around 8:35 p.m. and power had been restored by around 9 p.m.

Alliant's website said the problem was an equipment issue.
