Clinton County Sheriff's Office investigating after 18-year old drowns in Wapsipinicon

Police have identified the man who drowned in the Wapsipinicon River this past Saturday in Clinton County.

The Clinton County Sheriff's Office was called to the Ben Martinsen Wildlife Area Saturday morning for a report of a missing person.

When authorities arrived they spoke with two teenagers who said their friendBenjamin Williams was missing from the campsite.

Police began a search in the woods and the backwaters of the Wapsipinicon by foot, with drones, and K-9 units.

Less than an hour later at 10:28 am, the a body was found in the backwaters of the river by an off-duty firefighter.

On Monday police identified the body as 18-year-old Benjamin Williams.

The case is under investigation.
