Aspiring engineers gathered in eastern Iowa on Thursday for STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Day.

That was held at the Collins Aerospace main campus in the 400 block of Collins Rd. Northeast. About 60 exhibitors were on site at the fair to showcase STEM-inspired demonstrations. The fair also included a series of workshops to help children and their families learn more about some of the careers that are offered at Collins Aerospace, such as:

  • Building a line-following robot
  • Assembling prosthetic hands
  • Operating a drone
  • Programmierung

Iowa's News Now spoke withJordan McNulty, who lives in Atkins, Thursday to talk about what brought him to STEM Day.

"I learned how to make a light-up card, like this," Atkins resident Jordan McNulty said. "It was really fun. You learn about science, math and all kinds of fun stuff."
